Yes ! - This is actually an interesting debating point. I cast metal and have always worn high industrial boots. On the rare occasion a globule of molten metal has dropped onto my boot, it's once or twice dropped through one of the lace holes, burned through my sock and proceeded to burn its way into the top of my foot. Unlacing and removing the boot has been impossible to achieve in the few seconds required to save my foot. Compare this with bare feet, or wearing a sandal. A nearby bucket of cold water can see you plunge you foot into it resulting in virtually no damage whatever being suffered. I've never even possessed any sandals to perform an experiment, but to me, it demonstrates that the answer isn't totally clear-cut. Of course, my boots have steel toe-caps so the issue of dropping something heavy onto my foot isn't going to be solved by wearing sandals !
why not purchase steel toed boots? they can't be costing more than what your toes and feet are worth? even if they have to take a loan for boots and socks..after all your health and down time must be very costly

They forged that ax head out of very brittle metal, they allowed it to cool down way too much while working it, the side-wall thickness for the handle was terribly thin, and it had no heat treatment of any kind. I wouldn't trust that thing to survive very long before flying into pieces of shrapnel.

Any part of the world that isn't listed as first world country still uses Dawin's law in manufacturing. Most of them do not have a high level of restrictions because it would reduce the ability to provide labor and affordable products to their population. Something to keep in mind is that most restrictions in the first world were created to protect those without the ability to make sound decisions.

Just for fun. If I was making this video, I would have a couple of guys sitting in lawn chairs off to one side with their feet all bandaged up, little ketchup for effect.
If you adjust the playback speed on "settings", down by say, 0.75 % it sounds much improved, but soon becomes pretty boring. I'm happy to endure the squeaky voices in exchange for a reasonable playback time.
we truly are a scurge upon our environment.. it's also interesting how, as we adjust our scope and observe reality at a micro or macro level, associative patterns form, such as for example the way in which we are decimating our ecosystem akin to how these poor, poor people's lungs must be getting destroyed at such close proximity to such unsustainable practices.
