American soprano Nadine Sierra has been tipped as the new face of opera after stealing the spotlight at the world's top opera houses and in the pages of Vogue. At just 29, she's already had her curtain call at the Met, La Scala, Berlin and Paris State Operas.
She’s breathing new life into the Paris opera season, starring in Cavalli's "Elio-gabalo" and Mozart's "The Magic Flute". Following her breakout Met debut as Gilda in "Rigoletto", Nadine Sierra joins us on Encore to talk about reprising the role in Paris.

Yes indeed, ballet and opera was closely associated with vice.
When the king of Italy (1861-78) Victor Emanuel visited Britain,
he attended the ballet with the Prince of Wales (future Edward VII)
and enquired how much one of the young girls charged.
The gentlemen in the box informed him of the cost and he dejectedly said
he couldn't afford it.
At which point Prince Edward patted his arm and said, "Have this one on me".
Seeing her at the MET last week was spellbinding, her beauty is only enhanced by her talent... Brava!!

Lmao. She's the hottest soprano hitting the stages. You should try reporting on the weather. At least when you blow a call then, people won't consider you a fool. How many Sopranos hit an Eb like Sierra can...while she's dying! But, thanks for your opinions 👍

Beautiful voice. Wonderful technique and well produced. Don't be afraid to use more chest voice in your lower range. Particularly in Caro Nome, could use more chest. But you truly are very gifted.

@@kiaraeijo Lisette did it in Spain. Also idk a well known mezzo with a name like Lisette and Pretty that has done it recently. Maybe no name mezzos but not world class mezzos. Joyce doesn’t do it anymore and Isabel doesn’t do a lot of Rossini
Good for her for making it into the opera business as young as she did, just as all light lyric sopranos who are going to make it must do - I sure hope she’s not so ruined by feminism that she actually believes she’s still going to be singing when she’s Leo Nucci’s age.
