    I forgot to mention how to store your new SCOBY hotel. Place in an area where it won't be disturbed and out of sunlight. I keep mine in the corner of my kitchen. .

    Hi, Did you keep the burn scoby or do you toss it or do you have a scoby burn hotel lol? Also I was wondering if there was a reason you would ever use more than one scoby at a time? Thanks Liz!!

    • @KombuchaLiz
      @KombuchaLiz  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a great question. After I used the SCOBy for a burn I just toss it. Its good to have a few back of scobys just in case of any mishaps. But if you are brewing regularly you'll have plenty. They build up fast. Did your scoby arrive?

    Hi Liz, just wanted to know if I use organic palm jaggery instead of sugar for 1st brew.

    • @KombuchaLiz
      @KombuchaLiz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. I've never used this sugar so I can't say for sure. However, I would slowly introduce palm sugar. For example, if I used a cup of sugar for my F1 I'd use 3/4 C table sugar and 1/4 C palm. Then each batch add more palm and less table sugar. Does that make sense?
      Palm is 70-80% sucrose. Table sugar is 99.9%. So I think you'll be fine. Heck, you could even try doing half of the new brew with palm, then the next brew use 100% palm.
      I've used 2 alternative sugars in the past. Brown sugar and corn syrup. Both brewed with no problems. Please let me know how this works out for you.

      Hi. It really depends on the person and their body. When I first started drinking it I got my first bottle from the store. Came home and drank it on 6 minutes. Jumped back in the car and got more 🤣🤣 i never experienced any detox symptoms but some people do. I think most people drink around 16oz a day. For me it depends on how I'm feeling..sometimes ill drink 2 16oz bottles and some days I drink none..the key is listening to your body. I hope this helps ❤😉

    • @KombuchaLiz
      @KombuchaLiz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as the brew is good it doesn't matter. However, Aesthetics are pleasing. You could poor some of the Kombucha into a new jar separately and let it sit until a SCOBY forms to how you like it. It doesn't have to be a lot of Kombucha. Maybe 2 inches or so in the jar.
      Sometimes my baby SCOBYs form fast and other times you can barely see them. So you might have to let it sit for a month or so. I hope this helps.

      @@KombuchaLiz may I ask you another question please? It's about kombucha but not hotels... when I've made a batch, I decant it into glass bottles with some squished blueberries... but in some of them (not all of them), a green circle appears at the bottom and occasionally I've had white dots on the blueberries when they're at the top. Is this normal or is this mould?? Sorry to bother you with questions x

      @KombuchaLiz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lisanewlove8644 no problem at all Lisa. You are not bothering me. I love helping 🥰 could you send me a picture on ig? I think it's fine. The green at the bottom is probably just the yeast and as for the white spots on Blueberries, usually when I use fresh fruit it's as though the Kombucha pulls the color from the fruit. For example my strawberries 🍓always turn white and fizzy. I don't recall this happening with Blueberries though so I'd have to see it. You could also email me at elizabethsullivan1203@gmail.com

    I don't keep any cellulose.
    It is not needed to brew a new batch, it makes a mess, makes the process more complicated and increases the probabilty of mold. There are pretty much no advantages of using cellulose in brewing. After any brew I use the cellulose as the face/body mask and discard it.
