    Great video, I’m going for my multi engine checkride and found this very helpful. Loved the term “made up for it with some butter on the runway” haha

      You’ll kill it! Where are you doing your training out of?
      Update on my end, I’m interviewing a DPE who specializes on multi engine checkrides here in SoCal this Friday. I would LOVE, if you had any questions I can add for our conversation about the multi engine ride?

      @@JPLAviation I'm doing my training at Central Washington University. I already got my CFI though and I'm looking to instruct in the San Diego area. Maybe I can send some of my future students with that DPE.
      I'll definitely think of some questions!

      @@kyliestewart6055 that’s awesome! You’re well on your way with your career. I highly recommend Chris and any of the DPE’s I’ve used so far. I have my CFI ride in two weeks.

    Hi JPL, congrats on the video and thanks for the great material. Your videos have helped me with both my commercial and multi checkride.
    A quick comment - at some point you mention the dangers of losing engine when hot and high suggesting that may spin you over fast. I agree your one engine climb rate will be reduced, but the asymmetrical thrust is actually reduced vs ISA conditions. I may be wrong and I’d appreciate your feedback on this. Thank you!

    Great job on your check ride. As far as your ILS to 30, and in the real world. You would declare an emergency. You also would have gotten no more than a 30 degree intercept and probably no shorter than a 10-12 mile final. So Mr. Deley did the right thing. Besides it's all about being PIC and using good judgement known as ADM. I think the emphasis on the ground portion is that CRM or SRM be utilized with you ADM. I wish you a safe and enjoyable aviation career.

    I got my COM ASEL with Taylor a few weeks ago, and am starting at Horton Aviation here in the coming weeks. Excited to fly the DA-42 with Scott. I appreciate you sitting down and providing this information to future students, its always helpful to hear from those who have gone before. I have had the pleasure of completing all three of my checkrides with Taylor De Lay, he truly is an outstanding professional and DPE. Besides reading over the DA-42 POH and becoming familiar with the plane's system, is there anything else you recommend to be the most efficient in training? Thanks in advance.

    Got my commercial SE three days ago and will be doing ME soon, thanks for the info! Also I’m having a hard time finding non-CFI jobs for low time pilots

    • @JPLAviation
      @JPLAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They barely exist unfortunately, and when you get your cfi you’ll find that the market isnt as open as you’d think it would be. Here in SoCal there’s basically no openings, and if you aren’t from this airspace it’s even more difficult. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

    I would agree with the stress and how unmotivated you can get from studying when it takes a long time just to get a flight in a multi plane. It becomes stressful if you put off the studying. So as someone who has made this mistake I would like to let other people know that the studying is extensive and to knock it out a little at a time. Seriously with life and school, it can be hard, but needs to be prioritized for sure. It will make it easier for sure. Hope this helps!

      Additionally: don’t forget to study private and IFR knowledge as well as it can be very easy to forget about as you will fixate on the new knowledge.

      You sound like you're going to be well on your way Caleb. Life ain't easy that's for sure. However, with the right people around you and a stable environment the skies the limit!

    • @JPLAviation

      IFR knowledge and skill seems to be a dying trend in our industry today especially if you're in an area like SOCAL with little need for actual instrument flying!

    Hey thanks for the video have my check ride in the Da42 in a couple weeks. My question is I can't seem to find the accelerated stop distance in the POH your actually the first person I've hear mention it. Could you point me in the right direction about how to calculate it or where in the poh you found it? Thanks

    • @JPLAviation
      @JPLAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your aircraft does not have a specified Accelerate Stop Distance Chart, you should break it down into the theory and abstract the numbers. What is accelerate stop distance? It is "the runway length required to accelerate to a specified speed (either VR or VLOF, as specified by the manufacturer), experience an engine failure, and bring the airplane to a complete stop." (AFH CH 12). If your aircraft does not have a specified Accelerate Stop Distance Chart, you should break it down into theory and from there find the numbers from other charts available. I'm assuming you already have the knowledge at the commercial level to break down the DA42 performance charts. Your prompt: What is your ground roll distance to take off for x day? What is your landing ground roll distance for the same x day? Combine those two numbers. Are combining those two numbers accurate for an accelerate stop distance? What should you do to make them accurate? Commercial Level Understanding: What is the speed at which you decide to continue the take-off? What if on take off you're over the speed and an engine quits? What if you're under the speed an engine quits? What do you do in both of those scenarios? What's the risk of a take-off in a light twin with single-engine performance? Is a single engine take off always possible? Compare a Piper Seminole POH (standard trainer) to a DA42 AFM. Why does one have an accelerate stop distance and the other does not? What's the performance difference between the two and how would you fly each in the same situation x?
      Hope this helps and gives some food for thought. Multi engine flying during flight training is where GA has the highest percentage of fatalities per amount of accidents. All the best! If you have any questions lemme know

    CMEL checkride for me in 4 days in a PA-30 and CFI ride in another few weeks. I have a natural weakness with aircraft systems. I'm 100% not a gearhead at all so it's super difficult for me. Spending my nights with my face in the POH.

    Too much trivial stuff like, “the check ride was delayed due to blah-blah-blah.” More storytelling than information on what to expect from a check ride.
