    Dan, a buddy of mine and I also did multi engine training simultaneously in Florida. It was helpful for one of us to ride the the back watching the other fly, and vice versa. We did it in 5 days.

    Congrats to Bryan passing his commercial.... now was it Bryan who was physically and mentally exhausted or was it the instructor? *asking for a friend...*

    Could be done over the weekend. There really isn’t much to it. I did my in a few days, then had to burn off 50 hours of time I had booked.
    NOTE… when burning off the time I had an actual engine failure and fire, low altitude, at night.
    I guess the training was good enough.

    Is this a new thing with multi engine training the “ no more runway remaining- gear up” thing? After leaving the ground don’t you want to cleanup in the event of an engine failure?

    • @TakingOff
      @TakingOff  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Several schools of thought here. One as you say where you want to clean up so you can fly better. The other being leave the gear down in case you have to put it back down in the very early stages of take off where you still have usable runway remaining.

      @@TakingOff I’ve flown several different multi engine aircraft, have never heard that call in multi engine, single engine yes, not as critical say on a 210 or something because of the drag and no asymmetrical thrust issues. Just seems counter productive since the goal is clean the aircraft up when an engine fails.. but, to each their own…. Good luck with training

    • @TakingOff

      From Reagan, my instructor:
      I’ve actually cleaned that part of my instruction up since you guys have been with us. I have always taught it that way but it occurred to me teaching one of my MEI’s that actually the better practice is to get the gear up when you reach a positive rate to reduce drag and help get away from the ground asap. We plan for a continued takeoff in the event of an engine failure after rotation anyway. Even if you were on say a 10k foot runway, the better option is to continue the takeoff, climb to a safe altitude and come back around and land. Maybe when you run the drill, something solves the problem and you wouldn’t have to land single engine anyway. You wouldn’t have the time to explore that option if you put it back down on the runway. Only time I’d say it’d make sense is in the unlikely event of a dual engine failure. You never stop learning!

      @@TakingOff makes sense, I only asked because of a different TH-cam guy who makes that same call out in a twin. When I was flying the Aerostar it was positive rate, gear up, accelerate to blue line flaps up. Thank you for the response! And true, we are always learning

    You don't want to know what I think of a 4 day multi... This is not a rating you want to just pass. Good luck guys.

      Please do not make multi seem hard it’s is without a doubt the easiest and most simple ticket I got… had it in under a week and dpe said anyone who takes longer should not fly …

      I can say the same thing about don't make it seem like a hamburger flight with friends. I have noted in the last few crashes of VMC rolls, and then there is Addison Texas that shows VMC roll quite graphically. Yes Do get the rating it will make you a better pilot, I am just saying take it seriously because when it goes wrong it goes fast.@@bubbaman12289

      I think the point is that passing the checkride doesn’t necessarily make you ready for real-world flying. That’s true for any rating.
