What makes the Hall of Fame special in American sports is everything around the recognition. From the ceremony, speeches, bronze bust to the gold jackets. It's meant to celebrate your career not be a random notification on a Tuesday.
When Lyes and Cams gather to discuss ball you listen! Elite episode once again and the podcast name is fitting, you lot see and speak about the game the way it’s meant to be spoken about, keep it up🤝🏾
The HoF is actually one aspect where I wish it would be more "Americanized". In the NBA, the spectacle actually means so much more since it's not just your typical announcement, they make it to be a big event.
Ashley Cole might be the only PL player that can go into the best XI of all time across all leagues. Can go toe to toe against Roberto Carlos and Marcelo; more difficult against Maldini but definitely in that conversation
By far baseball does it the best. Huge ceremony, iconic speeches, media attention, copperstown (mlb museum where the plaques r held) is iconic. The selection process is stringent, you need 75% of the vote and players that get under I believe 6% "don't quote me", are removed from the ballot. Players have a maximum of 10 years on the ballot and enter the ballot 6 years after they've retired. Yes the process is not perfect and borderline players can be left off but it allows for the hall of fame to keep its prestige and exclusivity.
They hopefully will keep the Hall of fame in this current format, automatically induct 1 player and let the fans pick the other 2. Keeps the pool small and lets their be more competition for spots. But there should be a ceremony to celebrate these players tbh. Also wish they focused more on the 90s players who were the first to do it. Definitely John Terry and Gary Neville is who I’d vote next
Two of the best players I've ever seen in recovery: Ashley Cole and Ledley King. Cole though. There was a couple crazy recoveries playing for England too.
Granted I’m an American so my ball knowledge does not go back that far but in my opinion it should be the English Football Hall of Fame. Of course the Prem started in the 90s and it’s the new brand. It would’ve made more sense to honor the pre Prem legends then eventually work your way up to the modern day. Looking at American football and basketball, they have legit museums of the sports history. Granted I’m not sure if England has that
Its not comparable to NBA. People need ro stop comparing football to american sports. Football is. Not that. It was a working mam's sport. Football is about humble roots and doing your work on the pitch. For me, the show, glamour and obnoxious bits dont suit it. Look at paulo maldini and then look at lebeon james...makesme cringe thinking maldini doing commericials and talking like people on twitter. Hall of fame is a dumb idea for football. So glad my league la liga hasnt touched any of this nonsense
Who should be voted in next?
Andy Cole and Fowler

it’s crazy how PFA POTY is a bigger deal than the HOF. the HOF tag should weigh so heavy

Hes NOT on Marcelo's level
@@iso460he is better
@@therealhb1763better at being worse yeah
@@Ball619Ashley Cole is better than Marcelo lol
Accolades wise he doesn’t touch Marcelo attacking wise he doesn’t Marcelo is pretty underrated defensively it’s not like cr7 was helping him
prem HOF needs to be as important as the balon dor and give them special boots or caps or jackets make it a spectacle to celebrate brilliant careers
Idk about as big as balon dor but definitely deserves massive recognition.
@@HANASANAChannelno it definitely deserves that kind of spectacle around it
Andy Cole should be next, most underrated PL player of all time
Best pod we want more !!! Big up

its a great idea players who've had great careers should be celebrated not all great players will win titles or individual awards
Ashley cole doesn't deserve hall of fame it's other names that deserve it more
He is the best Left Back that has ever played in the PL.
