It was always a facade
The only one time in the entire series that Jan didn't come off as insane or uptight was when she came to apologise to Michael before he broke up with her. That's the only time. Anyone could see Jan losing her mind from a mile away, she's that kind of character.
Did they ever say what became of Jan? I know Michael and her stopped dating after the party but I never saw her again. How does she get a job after the whole mental breakdown at work?

Jan is one of my favorite characters. I wanted to see her longer.. I liked her attitude as a female boss but after few episodes she become insane, obsessed with Michael. Anyway the actress is really good at singing and she remindes me of Charlize Theron.

One thing I reallly loved about The Office is how meta it was. We were watching a show about a show about regular people in an office.
When I think about it the office was very equal in representation a cast of funny women with different personalities. And it feels so natural.
Many were pretty dull characters.

Michael did not drive Jan crazy, she has always been crazy, she only keeps it together and professional at work. There are a lot of people like that out there. Sane and composed at work, and totally off their rocker at home. It's almost like being bipolar.
