- In this video we show you how to create a white hi-gloss sublimation coating on Yeti style aluminium tumblers/travel mugs. You can use our Satin Sheen sublimation coating instead of the hi-gloss for a silky smooth finish.
The Subli Vista products we used were Sublimation Adhesion Promoter, this should be wiped into the product surface to charge the molecular binders in the product to activate the gripping power, take care to remove any excess. Then we used our White Brilliance Undercoat and finished off with our Hi-Gloss Clear sublimation coating.
When applying the sprays always shake before use and use light passes spraying from left to right and from top to bottom.
When curing make sure the coating is hard and not in any way soft to the touch. If your finished print is a little milky and inconsistent after pressing this is due to the coatings not fully cured.
When coating any item with a clear sublimation spray you will notice where you have sprayed, this is natural and if you don’t want to see any difference you can spray the entire substrate, rather than a masked off area. Alternatively, print the edges of the coating where the masked area meets a non coated area and you will not notice any difference.
A top tip for curing heat sensitive or delicate substrates is to cure at an appropriate temperature for 2/3rds of the recommended time then turn off the oven and leave the product(s) in until cool.
