    I see a lot of comments about JaMarcus... what’s craziest to me is how loaded LSU was in NFL talent. Brandon LaFell, Early Doucet, Dwayne Bowe, Jacob Hester... Russell was throwing to NFL talent all over the place

      RamMan Banks they made the NFL. 😂 not many D1 guys ever play in the league. For Russell to have two NFL starting WRs as well a solid 3 in Early Doucet to throw to is rare. Plus D-Bowe was a Pro Bowler for several years.

The next day they tell him so what you think about the plays he said I like them all. Turns out the tape was blank he had no idea. While the Raiders knew all about it.

      @@str8uce_148 It honestly looked fake when he threw the fucking ball, it's absurd how strong he was, if you showed this to someone who didn't know what they were looking at and said it was CGI it would be believable, to this day I've never seen a human being throw a football so far and so hard with such ease it's just mind blowing to see. I would absolutely love to know how far he was able to throw a football in his prime, if you told me he could stand in the end zone and effortlessly chuck it across the field through the uprights I would 100% believe it lol.

    Mental health is just as important as physical health...He was dealing with deep depression during his short time with the Raiders due to the loss of multiple family members and the Raiders abandoned him after a coaching change and not realizing that the young man needed some serious therapy...I am glad there is more awareness to mental health for athletes in 2022...

      Bro he was lost in the codeine sauce. Raiders did everything they could to help their #1 overall pick succeed. This man was given a DVD with plays the Raiders wanted him to take a look at and what he thinks of the plays, he took the DVD home with him and the next day they asked him if he liked any of the plays. He said he liked them all. The DVD was blank… and you sit there and type the Raiders abandoned him, he stole millions from the Raiders and is a huge reason why we don’t pay 1st overall picks a lot of money anymore

      @@willielittle9301 he was depressed because he was on codeine. I have suffered from depression myself and turned to alcohol. I caused my own problems and had to man up and deal with it. I had to help myself and I didn’t have $30 million dollars to seek help with. JaMarcus had the resources to get help but he kept drinking codeine and making himself worse. That’s NOT on the Raiders and they didn’t abandon him. JaMarcus was JaMarcus before and after the Raiders. If anything it was his personal Friends and family that abandoned him and let him go astray. I do agree with you on being glad there is more mental health awareness today.

    I was at the LSU vs Iowa (Capital One Bowl) three rows behind Sabin's LSU bench, they were down by a couple of touchdowns to Iowa in the fourth quarter. Sabin benched his starting qb and replaced him with Jamarcus Russel, within minutes Jamarcus brought LSU back and were leading the game before Iowa made a miracle touchdown right in front of Sabin and in front of us. Jamarcus looked awesome, he had the makings of a great NFL qb.

    JaMarcus Russell, in my mind, had the strongest arm in football history. He the only person that could be mentioned that had an arm stronger than Farve. Just a flick of the wrist and it’s out at MAX velocity it’s insane.

Russell could throw some ropes too, but unfortunately he wasn’t committed enough to showing off that arm talent.

      @@thebigmick1348 Exactly. Most of his throws were just tossing bombs downfield into covered receivers who kept coming down with them. The vast majority of NFL QB busts had major red flags coming out of college that would have been obvious with film analysis.

      @@chrishandsome4267 If you know football the skills are apparent. The Sugar Bowl game tape makes that obvious. This is why he went #1. Anyone who goes into the NFL is not a finished product. You have to work on your skills to get better at the next level. Defenses, verbage, and speed of the game are alot different than the college level. In the pros everyone is a 7-10 skill wise. You are playing with grown men with families. They are called Pros for a reason. In college, skills levels are everywhere. The best player on certain college teams are not good enough to get looked at by the NFL. This is where he got into trouble. He wanted to be an NFL quarterback but didn't want to put in the hard work necessary to stay an NFL quarterback. That's the difference between a good pick up and a bust. Work ethic.

    People don’t understand. Jamarcus Russell was a 6 foot 5, 250 pound quarterback who could throw it farther than any other qb ever and was also a good scrambler! That sounds like everything a franchise qb is in my books. He is a bust because he was lazy and got fat and lost his skills. If the raiders took Calvin Johnson, the lions would 100% have taken Russell

    Forgot how accurate he was when he had just a little time. He was by himself and in over his head in the NFL. If the Raiders had basically assigned someone to him to keep him on track then he’d still probably be playing. Most 22 year olds would make mistakes in Calif with $32.5M.

      You LSU fans have NO IDEA what "suck" really is. Try going through a 3-9 season where your team is losing by 30 points nearly every game like I did! Les Miles didn't suck, he was a good coach. LSU also had some 10-11 win seasons as well, even had a National Championship with him. Hell, had LSU has some offense in 2011, they would've possibly won it that year or at least not lose by 21. Unfortunately teams have picked up on Les Mile's trick plays, like his fake field goals and fake punts for example. He did that too much. Doesn't mean he sucked as a coach. You LSU fans should be more grateful than that.

One of the assistants came up with an idea of sending him home with a tape to watch, except it was like a spongebob episode or something. Next day they asked him if he studied the blitz formations they sent him home with, looked all of them in the eye and said “yup, now let’s hit the field” 😂 😂 😂

    It was the same rhino with Tim Tebow. Both guys dominated college playing on a roster loaded with NFL players. There were 3 WRs that he was throwing to that had decent NFL careers. Russell had a big arm but he’s throwing to NFL caliber WRs against college competition
