I head back to the Family Car Graveyard to finish a revival of the Ole Man's first new car, his 1973 Mercury Comet GT. This 3-speed 302 car has lots of memories for our family. Will Fireball hit the road for the First Time in 35 years ago? Will the carburetor rebuild help the revival? Will this car kick up dust after 35 years? Will this causes the fire department to be called? Can this "Comet GT" be resurrected? Is a Revival Possible? Abandoned for 35 years, will it hit is the road in this episode? I had a '73 Mercury Comet as my first car. 302v8 with C4 automatic transmission. That thing was pretty wicked. Would have loved this GT.
We will hopefully have more fun to come with this rig.

My grandfather, God rest his soul, had a yellow comet with black interior as his last car. I would ride with him and my dad to take him to work. We'd stop at the store and you wouldn't believe it but I would get a diet Mountain dew every time. I wanted that car but I was way to young to drive at that time. It was a blessing of memories to see this video. Thank you rev.

I have some great memories fishing for white bass with my Dad on the creeks that fed into Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas. When you found the right lure you could catch a bunch of fish in a hurry. Glad to see you still making memories with your Dad on these videos.
When they are on, they are really on.
You know God works in wonders. My dad had one exactly like this one same color and all when I was a boy. My brother caught it on fire as well. God bless you. Hey Rev that's funny that the 73 mercury comet was my first new car and I dated my wife also just like your dad. My comet had the 302 2 barrel carb. That car was very quick off the line. Only had it for 3 years! Thanks for the videos.

Enjoyed the bonus fishing footage and the one that got away. That was a huge blue catfish. That comet runs really good and the ole man turned her loose and the 302 still strong. Your dad drove that comet like I do when test drive a used car before I buy it.

Hello Rev, my second car was a 1974 Ford Maverick Grabber that had a 302 peppy little car but what a job it was changing spark plugs and then there was the noisy upper control arm problem that was due to it being so close to the shock towers you could't grease them.
I had a 74 Maverick 302 with 3 on the tree... fun car..
This is the car I been waiting on since you started the channel, I always seen it in the background and hoped that you
would eventually pick it to work on, so I was so excited when you said it was next. I can only imagine what it would look
like fully restored back to factory. I bet it was a looker for sure. And by the way you guys are one of my top 5 favorite TH-cam
channels out of my hundreds of subscriptions. Keep up the great job it is great entertainment for me when I am not working
on my own auto projects.

I watched a documentary about the Maverick which was the Ford version of the Mercury Comet and why Ford killed it. It turns out the Maverick was not only outselling but with a little fine tuning it was also outperforming the Mustang which was their precious one so the Maverick had to go. V8 Maverick’s and Comet’s were quick and fun in their time and can still be today. I’ve had them with V8’s and with 6 cylinders and loved them and wish I still had mine as I can’t afford to get one now that I am disabled and retired. Seeing this one and seeing the old man have fun with it brings back memories of the fun I had with mine as well as the fun my 3 brothers had with theirs. Yes all 4 of us boys had both Maverick’s and Comet’s .
Ive owned a few Mavericks and they are awesome.
@@RevStoration yes they are and I’ve had Mavericks as well as Comets, and miss them. Unfortunately I am now disabled and on a low fixed income so will never be able to own one again.

That carb looks like the one on my 74 Dodge. All new parts inside and it runs great. I drove a couple of those Maverick/Comet things back in the day. With a 302 they scoot pretty good. The Old Man was clearly having fun!
