The catappi tracks set had never appealed to me. I was surprised how the mini z 4x4 had a decent slow crawl performance so all I did with mine was added some bottom weights for performance(brass) and metal steering link and metal front axle and a center skid plate, everything else is stock, only upgrade I’m thinking of adding next is the oil filled shocks. This thing is a beauty out of the box, the scalism of it is like none other in a 24 -27 scale. I spent over $100 just trying to make my other brand rigs to look scale and it still doesn’t come close to the Kyosho mini z 4x4s. Keep RCing! Peace!
I felt the same about that chassis. I have two Jimny Mini Zs. One has the Furitek chassis and brushless and one has just a few brass bits. The one with just brass bits added is much more trouble free and fun to drive.
I have this same jeep, all I did was brass knuckles. It does really good the way it is so I'll just stick with it stock. I was really surprised how well the new tires do versus the originals
I’ve 4 Mini-Z 4x4’s and have left them stock.. I found them too fiddly with “upgrades”. Have seen some doing what you did and the impression of the benefit seems incremental.. The shocks, yes! Kyosho usually have very good shocks. I run them with a Flysky Noble NB4 with the Mini-Z dongle and with the option of adjusting throttle curves, steering and so forth it makes all 4 of them better to drive😉 Add some led’s and have fun😄 Too bad with all the trouble you had..🤨 And yeah, tried tracks on my TRX4.. I’m buying no more tracks.. 😂
The best way to deal with the broken part is to reach out to the company and tell them so they can improve the product. (Specifically the tracks). I’ve never seen the side slider / body mount break like that.
The truck looked good on the course. It's a real shame the tracks break so easily and the chassis presented problems. But, this review may help others who were considering these add ons.
Sad to see as I've thought about the Furitek chassis for a couple of my rigs as I've been a fan since buying the Cayman 4x4 & 6x6. As for the tracks, I bought 2 sets & thought they were ready built & was horrified when I saw the 320 million parts, so sold them on. Glad I did. Your disappointment has saved a lot of potential trauma, so thank you for sharing.
I have the Kyosho Jeep Mini Z. I like it, but is a very basic truck. I did get the metal front gear box. I also got the Kyosho shocks. They are metal, but are they really shocks? They do work well. I also got the Kyosho LEDs. I even got the red link set. These parts all do help. I had considered getting the track set. I will not do that now. Thank you for that. Thoughts?
I just got one few days ago, so far it’s stock but I’m trying to see if there’s a way to make it a little faster without losing torque. Is it possible to put different more powerful motor from Kyosho but without going full brushless replacement? I’ve seen a few different on their website, but there is no specs or anything so it’s hard to tell which one is which
Welcome to my pain! I have that build done. The motor case is impossible. I had to take it to a DIY HOME CENTER to drill out the side. Let’s not begin to talk about the plastic center driveshafts. They pop out. Which limits your shock positions. Almost a year of searching and I could not find center driveshafts in metal to solve that problem.
I've been in R/C toys scents the mid 80's. Kyosho never impressed me. They never gone to extra mile R/C Trucks or Cars. They sold a USA#1 Chevy Monster Truck in the 80's. We had one nothing. problems with the dog bones. It was junk. Thier newest USA#1 same thing problems with handling, they don't go the extra mile to do stuff right.
That's pretty unfair to go to all that trouble and for it to break in the first 60 seconds. And then on top of it those parts be so expensive to buy and they don't sell the one part you need you have to buy the whole assembly. That seems really shady. And I wouldn't be surprised if they knew it broke that quickly. Things today are made to be broken and replaced and not to last anymore. And it's not like you are rough with that thing at all.
"2 days of building and it broke in 30 seconds" never have more relatable words been said
I’Ve done that too🤣

do you have the LEDs working?

I had trouble with a Rampart chassis so I'm not surprised with the lack of quality control from furitek chassis'

Dude, yes! I've wanted to see a tricked out Kyosho crawler.
I feel your pain with assembly, even SCX24 is too small for my big old hands.

It’s too bad it didn’t works out… A least it was enjoyable to watch you build something, it’s always fun to watch stuff like this!
Im glad i steered away from track then, in retrospect. The only reason I did was the shop in Japan didnt have the Defender with tracks
Tracks only LOOK cool. LOL. Sorry you spent so much time to have them break so quick. Cheers!
I have found a fix for that part that breaks! Metal replacement part. Haven’t had any trouble with them since.
As always, it's an excellent video and information. Honestly, hard pass on that kit. Certainly looks cool though.

Where’s your Slash Maxx review? Waiting for your thoughts.

what rc is this?
I love yOur video
You need CowRC magnetic work pad!

Bummer deal all that to break so quick 😢
I know what I’m not gonna be buying any time soon 😂😂😂😂
So your gona build for 2 days then just do a circle in the grass?
I never knew Wish was making R/Cs .
Never
they are purchased ready made & RTR , then the breakage starts . SO, what's new .lol
If you love to waste your money then this is the right rig for you.
Maybe that brushless system is just way too much for the tracks.
There is something seriously wrong with the gear mesh
That thing is loud
That thing sounds like a blender.
So basically a brand new truck and 5x more expensive…
You get what you pay for with the minis. I stay away from kiyosho for that reason
just bought one for 120 free shipping...
How to 600$ tracked paperweight lol
