  • Is the Mini Z 4x4 Still worth getting in 2024? With all the new higher performance mini rigs out now its really hard to justify whether or not to spend your hard earned RC money on one of these. This is actually a question I myself had for a little while now because I just wasn't sure what these little guys were capable of and if one of them would be a good addition to my collection. In this video we're going to test one out and see who its for, and what kind of action it can handle.
I do think this little rig still has a spot in the market although I don't think it would be a bad idea for Kyosho to update it a little bit. Its absolutely a very good indoor crawler for smaller courses and desks. This is also the Jimny too so I know its the lowest performance of the bunch. Do any of you have the 4Runner or the Jeep? Do they perform better?
Anyway thanks for watching! I'll catch you all in the next one.

This is a good video, I like talking to us bro style. Let’s go see what little turtle can do 😁. Subbed

Thank you for the constructive feedback! I was curious how the more casual tone would be received! I also appreciate the sub!

I agree. I picked up the Jeep back in November when HH had them at $99, and I love the scale detail Kyosho puts into these. It’s not the best performing mini crawler, but you can’t expect it to be since it’s one of the smallest at 1/28 scale. The tires are so tiny! Actually, considering the hard body and the size, it does pretty well and makes a really fun indoor driver.

They really are a lot of fun when you get them in the right environment. I could see a Mini-Z specific course being a ton of fun and easy to stash when you’re done! Thanks for watching and thank you for your comment! I must have missed that 99 dollar HH special. What a deal!

@@Bash_TheStampede You’re right, and I technically bought it through Tower Hobbies. Tower and Amain are where I typically purchase HH products from, and both advertised the Kyosho (& Redcat) sale. You could’ve bought them through Horizon for the sale price, but they didn’t advertise the sale and you had to do a direct search to even find them.

For their size, they are very capable. People need to remember that size is the biggest factor in capability. A 1/32 will always be outperformed by a 1/24. A 1/24 kyosho will always be out performed by a “1/24” (1/20) scx24. An scx24 will always be outperformed by a “1/18” (1/14) UTB18 capra, and that will always be outperformed by a 1/10. And of course the 1/10 will always lose to a 1:1.

I totally agree, I was actually pretty blown away by how well the little Jimny handled the outdoor trail! I think as long as the environment is fitting for the size of the Kyosho It'll exceed expectations. I think another thing to factor in is that Kyosho didn't build a rock crawler here, especially with the Jimny. Its an awesome scale representation of the real thing and that's kind of the point of it more than everything else imo. I hope that I didn't give the impression that I was expecting hardcore rock crawling performance haha I just wanted to show what NOT to expect it to do. Also, side note: I'm pretty into Mini-Z class racing and I watch your channel all the time! Just box stock and super stock for now, but I've watched a lot of your reviews because I'd like to get into the open class at my club.

@@Bash_TheStampede yeah, I wasn’t suggesting you were giving the wrong impression, I was kinda agreeing and just reiterating for people that size is the biggest performance factor.
I love mini z racing. Just keep at it and keep growing your local scene. Open/mod is a totally different beast. lol.

From what I’ve seen mod/open look pretty wild! It’ll be fun though. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!

They have their own lines in scale etc, great point.

I totally upgraded a rubicon with new electronics and it’s great but was kind of a pain and expensive to mod.

I’ve seen some of the upgrades and stuff that people have done and they look pretty cool! Did you use the Furitek stuff?
