They are a cool device, definitely worth the dollars spent. One thing people ask is "will it void my manufacturer car warranty?" They don't actually increase the power therefore they don't void any warranty. Most dealerships who sell them will fit them for free also. Nice work Sandy on the install.

The throttle controller was worth the investment ,killed the stop start lag at intersections .Have moved it between 3 vechiles all the same make. 👏👏🇳🇿

Mate, I have a Jeep Grande Cherokee Trailhawk and have always had a flat spot when I take off from a stop even when I’m not towing
Will definitely be getting one of these before we pick up our new Silverline in a few weeks
Great video, looking forward to the one on motor movers!

Feels like your ranger now drinks more diesel now with the controller I reckon

Hi Greg. Thanks for your informative videos - great job. We installed the same transmission cooler on our ranger after watching your video. We are considering the throttle controller next and I have a couple of questions now that it is 9 months after you posted the video and you have more user experience to pass on. I am trying to find out how they really work. Does it actually speed up the transmitting of the throttle signal, or simply change the position sensor message? I.e. Does it remove factory built in delay or is it the same as putting your foot down faster or slower depending on the mode selected. I would have assumed the factory built in lag would be occurring in the ECU and it seems the idrive is only modifying the signal from the throttle to the ECU, so it could only modify the size of the signal (ie like putting your foot down faster/slower) - but I am not knowledgeable in this area and hopefully wrong. If your ranger is able to access the engines power more readily, have you seen an increase in full consumption? The energy for that quicker initial burst of acceleration has to come from somewhere right? Also, have you noticed an increase in tire wear from the quicker accelerating? The lag in the ranger is really frustrating, so I'm very keen on the idrive, but I was interested in your experience after 9 months. Thanks for your time, cheers Paul.

Hi Paul.. Thanks for the feed back we love making these vids and its good to hear people are getting something out of them. So throttle controllers..... As you say they are only altering the signal from the pedal and cant give the engine any more power but the change in drivability is very noticeable. I use mine in 2 modes primarily, economy when not towing and this does seam to make a difference I don't have any figures because we very really use a tank of fuel in non towing mode. But it defiantly makes the ranger very smooth, like you are feathering the pedal which should save fuel. the other mode we use is ultimate 6 when towing and the noticeable difference then is when you are trying to get across a busy intersection with the van on. Tyre wear I haven't noticed but not sure I would.. at the end of the day will my next vehicle have a throttle controller Yes it will. no disadvantages and several advantages. Cheers Greg

Would it void the factory warranty on a new(er) vehicle?

Idrive have a section on there site about warranty and it looks like it doesn’t effect vehicle warranty idrivenz.co.nz/pages/faq

Nothing against the throttle controller (seem like a pretty cool device) but an important consideration I think is the difference between voiding a warranty and a warranty claim being declined. They are not necessarily the same thing. A claim could be declined without the warranty being technically voided in a legal sense.

@@DW-10 We love that you're thinking of the longevity of your vehicle, but because the EVC Throttle controller makes no changes to Factory fuel or boost mapping, we are unaware of any warranty claim being denied in the near 10 years we have been importing the iDRIVE units. Should any iDRIVENZ customer have concerns, we have a standing offer to discuss the matter with your vehicle provider. Have a great day!
