"My husband said to me, 'Our kids are not going to be Jewish because of the Holocaust; they’re going to be Jewish because of the joys of Judaism!’" There I was thinking that I was clicking a link to watch a video about an occasionally delicious, sometimes mediocre, and often just plain awful appetizer. This is, in fact, beautiful.
@@safir2241 you sound like you're more angry with it than your brother is. Chill out. The love of being part of the Jewish nation, is the faith in God and keeping his mitzvot/commandments. A bris/circumcision is one of them; a MAJOR one of them. Your mom did right. Now go have a Lechaim 🥃
Still not ready to go from Italian specialties to the Gefilte fish which is not part of the Italian celebration of 7 fish Friday Many of the people just really serve seven fish usually have if you have any family left you are lucky to have a wonderful and special evening which strengthens your faith And me and is so very much and I do know because I no longer have that valued family
I always loved gefilte fish. I always like them a little sweet. I hope to try making my own this year....I think the fact that you can get the ingredients de-boned and ground up in the store makes a big difference. Not like you have to club a carp and butcher it in your own house.
With the addition of so many gentiles(interfaith spouses) to the seder table few will try gefilte fish or like it! You have to grow up Jewish to appreciate it!
Not Jewish. But I have close friends that are Jewish. And I live in a community because that is very much Jewish. So I will say my experience with Judaism from the lens of a Hindu person. He’s very interesting. I’ve met all different types of people from various branches. Ranging from orthodox to more liberal if that’s the terminology. A group eating gefilte fish and I had plenty of Jewish friends. Now these days because life has gone in the way! I have not had access to the filter, fish partially because it was sold out partially because food prices these days
Beautiful video! Don’t know how my grandma prepared the gefilte fish, but loved having it, and her homemade matzo ball soup, as a child. All wonderful memories ❤️
Such sweet memories..when the family and the family elders were still around....all gone now...im the last one
I'm so sorry for your loss.
@@hris3540 thankyou
my life step bubbe used to cook this and my mum learnt it from her. The smell of it brings nostalgia of their home.

What a fantastic film of family love and togetherness, I have never heard of gefilte fish but I totally enjoyed this film.
Creating such happiness in this family brings joy to those who are watching from the outside..well done them..laughing in love is the best..♥
I love gefilte fish with a little whole grain mustard, and some horseradish. Delish! It was my grandmother’s favorite. I sure miss her.
I love your channel so much. All the videos are well-shot and the content is very interesting and rich in culture. I'm bing-watching them now. hehe.
moving video, really craving some gefilte fish now !
I can’t stop watching this. Baruch HaShem, what a wonderful faith Judaism is ❤️

What a beautiful family....
Such Lovely family story!!! By the way, what about a documentary on the joys of kugel?
It's fish, egg, cracker crumb, salt and pepper and maybe sugar. Why is it so mysterious to people?
I can smell that (disgusting to me) odor through the internet! Very accurate description of what makes a Seder and a loving Jewish family.
Beautiful piece! Thank you for sharing

I bought myself some gefilte fish just to try and now I’m loving it , I Ike the humble story behind this delicious food , 💝🐟

So you are basically saying it tastes like shit, unless you've grown up with it and don't mind the taste^^
@@dr.doppeldecker3832 No I can't say it taste that bad but it's not something you begin to eat at age 40!

Beautiful, the tradition! I hate how so many cultures are sacrificing theirs…
Watching this makes me want to be there. To hear the stories. To so share in communion.
This was lovely! B'Shana Habaha I hope to make gefilte fish with my children Perhaps we will have to attend for a lesson! Chag Sameach!
When fishing with a rod and rell, how do you identify the gefiltes? Look for the ones with a carrot on the nose.
