We finally did it!! The SG1603 is now brushless and ready for its first speed run! Very excited to see how fast this little thing can go! With the 35A ESC hold up on 3s? We will soon find out 😀👍
I have the same servo and the same Dumbo RC radio/receiver (except my trim is green) in my upgraded WL toys 144001, as well as the HobbyWing 1060 brushed ESC, I recommend all of them! They are working very well for me, I hope this helps anyone who is considering these parts.

Cool set up I rock with the blue dumbo rc I had to get new lights with 6 colors including red and the gauge wire on the stock model was tool small the lights the wires are bigger and works well with the 4th channel I actually have a video up of the confirmation of the working led the straps are cool but I am telling all rc enthusiasts alien tape better than Velcro hot glue and you can wash them and reuse them can’t wait for the run video

was it also an easy swap? same pinion gear? have you used a979 a lot with no issues?? and did you stay with stock 2s 1200 20c batt... i have an a959 that has same setup as the a979 i think...thanks for sharing info...

Nice build! Those 35 amp ESCs go up in smoke on 3s if you're unlucky though. Says 2-3s on them, but 3s often fries it even before being driven. That racestar combo otherwise works beautifully on 2s in my a959. Keep up the good work and subbed✌😎
this is good to know... i have this a959 car also and fried the stock radio... what kv racestar motor did you use..??? and did you use same pinion off the stock wltoys 390 motor... my guess is a 6200kv on 2s would be to fast and maybe tear up gears... the 4000kv-4600kv motors seem best match...thanks for sharing your results... we all learn from others
@@roadstar499 I used a 2435 motor with 4500 kv. I think anything with higher KV than that would just run too hot. The original pinion fits. The only issue I had was the chassis flexing causing the mesh to go out of whack and destroy the spur gear. A carbon chassis from banggood sorted that out, but that was a lot of work because it needs fettling to make the A arms fit🙈 Now it all works nicely though and looks great😎
i could not tell if those tires were higher or lower diameter... the more solid wheel may be better at high speeds for sure... a great mod would also be to lower springs and add some good shocks i have a feeling you will not handle high speeds very controlled as it is...it will be nice if you do videos and tests and see improvements each upgrade does... thanks
Your gyro seems reversed (it moves the car into the turn, instead of keeping it straight). Have a look at reversing the gyro, I think you do it with a double click on the button of the receiver. Cheers!
i had same issue with servo moving... put shim on top of servo...bracket holds fine now when i tighten... the stock servo is rubbish on this car... and there are no good ones available with same 5 pin plug that fits in the esc... a servo out of a wltoys 959a will fit and it seems better imo... its a shame no one sells a stock esc...mine stopped working...i have parts ordered for brushless conversion...i just hope my 4600 kv does not rip this cars gears appart using the stock 2s 1200...i expect it will do 30 mph vs the stock 15mph....cheers

oh dear! i know they are hard to get hold at the minute due to their sudden popularity didn't know this bad! Sorry to hear that mate i dont bother with ebay anymore i sold my old trx4 on their and had a lot of issues with the buyer not knowing how to operate it. I only sell and buy private now on forums, gumtree, fb marketplace etc

This is an awesome little truck I have one myself and unfortunately one of the diffs has stripped teeth just wondering if there is a way to make temporary gear until the new diffs come
on 3s that 6200kv will do 50 mph plus if you can keep it in a straight line and not wipe out... many guys stated the diff should be modded to handle brushless system ... but if it dies...it dies...
@@beyondRC i would stick to 2s and you should be fine... i think 3s may tear up the gears as well as over push that esc anyway... you should get 45 plus mph on 2s with the 6200kv anyway since the 4000kv 2s setup gets 27 mph... any more speed that car will not be easy to keep on track... when will do put up demo??? thanks

i use dumbo RC radios. CHANNEL 4 is a 3 mode switch. i use that for LEDs, winches, locking diffs, etc. should be relatively straightforward.

Not sure if a temp gear is a good idea but i know people have run wltoys diffs i am still running stock!
