I use "fluid film" on all my electronics, bit messy but easy to apply and keeps things functioning in the wet. Awesome vid Phil!
Yes, a few options out there for protecting the electronics.
@rc.realistic.overlanding fluid film is a lanolin based corrosion inhibitor. Its super convienent to use, just spray on then use compressed air to blow away the excess. It kind of stays wet, so maybe not the best if used around lots of dust, but i havn't found it to be a problem. I've run my WPL v3 speed control underwater once treated. I havn't needed to repair any connections so can't comment there.

I've this machine for a while now. Did a suspension upgrade, and have 2 sets of drift wheels. I have a brushless system coming. I have a place to go to test the new motor etc, too.
"Silicone conformal coating" - you paint it on everything electrical except connectors (eg the decased receiver, really don't get it on connectors) and then it's waterproof. You can solder through it if you need to. RS components is the best place to get it.
Yes I have some (I’m an electrician by trade).... but I’d completely forgotten that the receiver was open to the elements 🤦♂️

In that case, technical question. I want to set up ardupilot or inav rover on something for telemetry, particularly for current sensing. Any idea what kind of rating I'd need on a current sensor on say a typhon 3s?

Mine landed today. Did a quick strip down to grease the gears n diffs up , what a great cheap rc , waiting on my rc6gs to land so i can get my brushless set up going but might just buy another for that 😉

Hello there. Quick tip if you don't know yet. The spare steering arms are a bit shorter than the ones that it came with. That makes the truck drive straight

This channel is the best.
And flip the motor mount around and you can put a 27 tooth WL toys pinion on it my mesh was a little tight so I slotted the chassis a tiny bit to make it fit but it runs like the top and is fast as hell and I also put a 2845 surpass hobby 4500 KV motor in it

This video is great!!!!! Only thing I miss and would really love you to add is how the brushless version behaves with the other wheels, the drift wheels. Both 2s and 3s. I got a feeling it will be extreme fun with the drift wheels with 3s. Kind of like a real strong drifter.

I was hoping the stock motor would be able to take 3s with just a esc and receiver swap. But brushless looks so fast and cheap. WPL has them on their site now so you know one is headed to my house next month. Lol the misses is looking into plane tickets to England. 🤣

Was it difficult to remove the stock pinion when upgrading to brushless? Just placed my order for the 1603 & the same 2440 brushless motor that you recommend here. Hoping the screws are not superglued in like with the 144001 :)
Make sure you have a decent screwdriver and you should be ok. Wasn't as hard as the 144001... they are welded on!!!!!!!!

Great video, thanks! I got my SG but I'm really struggling to make it do anything deliberate when drifting. I'm very new to this, do you have any beginner drift tips regarding the gyro or anything, please? Cheers!
I think a lot of people switch the gyro off and it’s easier to do. It’s all about getting the practice on really. Try and find a nice slippery surface
Impressive out of the box but is much more on brushless. Mate,can you test fit any cva or on road shocks in this?What is the size of the hex wheel?
Will repaint the body when i get this and slap'em with arrma stickers then put it side by side with my Infraction hahaha
I haven’t got any shocks the right size. Need to measure them. I forgot to check the hex, but pretty sure it’s 8 or 9mm

I think you already know but for drifting you need locked diffs. Anyways love the vids man.
I would say for a good drift setup just chug some hot glue in the diffs. But do what you want man i still love it.
Yes a lot of people run a locked diffs for drifting, however, sometimes a very small amount of skip in the diff works well.

I measured the shaft at just over 2mm... but I think a 2mm pinion will fit. 👍

So you lose the sweet headlight control when you do the brushless conversion?
Yes, I changed the connector and put it on the receiver. Depending on which was a round you plug it in... it gives you either Red or White lights.
Having trouble finding spares for these vehicles, any signs of spare parts or upgrades coming?

I’d say around $150 if you buy all new stuff. I have loads of spares... so cost me next to nothing
How are you getting stock LEDs to run once you switch esc and rx?? I have a conv kit on the way but wondering about this?
You can connect it to your Receiver if you change the connector , but you can’t switch colours.

Hello, got a question about the wheels. Are they removable with a 12mm hex like the ones used on WPL RC's ?
I think they are 8 or 9mm Hex

Where van I find some 1/16 bodies to swap on this beast? I can't find any online!
I found the wheel base on bangoods and it's not the size I need for my project in mind. I'm needing a 7.12 wheel base for the diamond select toys back to the future delorean wheel base. Its 1/15 scale and I was hoping it would be a tight fit but it's a little further then a little bit. I'm having trouble finding a scale to fit the wheel base and I'm thinking about just extending a 4wd vehicle to fit. Would u know of any nicely made RC's out there that fits a 7.12 wheel base give or take? Or should I just extend a very close to size rc?
