  • Though it’s located on the west coast, Langer’s Delicatessen has put pastrami on the LA map. Norm Langer, the owner of Langer’s Deli, inherited the restaurant from his parents. The restaurant is best known for its "World Famous #19" pastrami sandwich on rye.

Back in the 60's- I was in H.S .My parents left me $2.00 for dinner. I would go to the local Deli and get a #7......Corned beef and Pastrami on rye with cole- slaw and Russian Dressing. I'd get French fries and a Dr. Browns black Cherry soda. I also tipped .15c.......... DeeeeeLicious........... Main St. and Jewel Ave.........Queens, NY

As much as I love Katz, I have to give the #1 sandwich title to Langer's. There is just something about the marriage of bread to pastrami to coleslaw that works so amazingly well. Part of the magic is that Langer's Rye is probably the best rye I've ever tasted. Simply amazing bread.

This sandwich is legit bomb ass fire good. I have been going to Langers since I was a kid. My mom is a big fan. I grew up in a neighborhood a couple of miles South of this area. The area itself is like an old school version of an American City during the height of blight. But there is something really authentic in seeing the real American world. A combination of working class, down on their luck and the idea of a dream. Yeah Langer's rocks!

The best sandwich is from Burrata House in Los Angeles... And that's facts.
So far Burrata House has been the only deli or sandwich shop in North America which has blown me away.
I can't see Langers being any better than BH 10/10. BH is just so unique, yet so authentic compared to most Italian places.

I always get the Corned beef, and its a masterpiece. I would always get that when me and my family would come to Hollywood for CHLA appointments. I would get that, and then I would get 3 of their mini M&M cookies and take some rye bread to go. Still one of my favorite establishments in Hollywood at 15 y/o! Don't yell at me for being spoiled, because I'm just a foodie! Such great pickles too!

If this video had been filmed in some Asian country, there would be plenty of comments from shocked people because the cook touches the food directly with bare hands ...

Boar’s head pastrami with horseradish mayo big eye Swiss, and kraut on caraway-rye Griddled in butter.
It’s funny that one of the best pastrami’s I had was in Kansas City...

All of my Katz's have been fresh bread and loads of superb pastrami - it is a fave. Extra mustard is a must a extra dills. The quality, visit after visit, is consistent and that matters to me. I also love Russ and Daughters. I get their bagels and get pastrami and make such a fab hot smoked pumpernickel and pastrami bagel!! Extra mustard of course!!

with less competition in the area it's bound to get more hype. it's fine pastrami, but the hype would have you believing you're trying something otherworldly.
