    For anyone who is confused about the internal standard, it is just used as a positive control, you mix it in with your sample (provided it doesn't react with your sample ofc), run the sample and if the peak for the internal standard shows up you know that the GC worked as intended, if the peak doesn't show up you know that there is an error somewhere and you have to do it again.
    Also the internal standard is of known concentration so it is also used for calibration.

    I swear I'm not kidding. I didn't believe it for the first time so I did it for second time. This video's music put me to sleep both times whenever I played.

    Nearly a whole third of the video is that "column" bit...perhaps slightly speeding that part up would be good.

    What solution is used for internal standard?

    • @clickergirl98
      @clickergirl98 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it has whatever you're testing for in there, but chemically labeled so you can differentiate it from your control positive or from actual positives. internal standard is used to ensure that the preparation of the sample was done correctly. for example if your sample results appear negative but you were unable to see your internal standard, you have to redo your sample preparation as to not risk calling a false negative.
