@Micah Moore perhaps we should not stoop to their level by being so cruel in our own judgements. it's only likely to trigger them to be worse, not better. empathy and compassion can be hard to have for someone who has done something wrong to people we care about, but holding a boundary of "this is unacceptable behavior" doesn't mean we can't also offer them insight into a better way to act. and if not them, others. anyway, not trying to judge you, just offering another perspective since your reply was very highly charged.

My husband forgot to get the marriage license. So technically we didn’t get our license and legally married until the last day of our honeymoon 😂 crap happens!!!

Heck, me and my late husband never got legally married. It's a piece of paper. We began dating when I was 14. Engaged at 18. I wanted to finish college and have money saved for our wedding. I didn't want us to start our adult lives in debt. He asked me to marry him again when I was 20 with a "better" ring(although the first ring meant so much to me, he felt he needed to get a bigger diamond, I didn't lol I wore both for so long). Then I got sick. Deathly sick. I have a rare genetic condition that just wanted me dead lol. I was unable to eat food for years, was kept alive with intravenous nutrition infusions 12 hours a day for years, was severely underweight and malnourished. I didn't want to look and feel like death at my wedding. I didn't want my medical debt to be tied to him and ruin his credit and my Dad had much better health insurance (which is sad since he was a firefighter and a instructor at the college's fire science program) so we did vows, we saw each other and husband and wife and planned on having a wedding when things were better. Sadly, on his way home from my hospital room on Christmas morning, a tragic accident from a idiot drunk driver, took him from me. He was in a medicated coma for 11, days and then a hospital related infection killed him. That piece of paper didn't matter to us, we were married, I spend almost half my life with him, 14 years old when we began dating and he was my world.

But unfortunately if you have crappy family on either side, most laws state next of kin makes the final medical decisions, as well as property in their name, estates, individual bank accounts, etc. Not all states, but most. People just need to be aware of it and make sure if you’re not going to get married, you have a valid Power of Attorney for medical decisions and a LEGAL living will! Much love to you 💕💕💕

That is what shocked me. i knew about this, that was one of the things i always said if i was around people ignorant enough to not want gay marriage but I never imagined in a million years that my husbands dad would swoop in and make the medical decisions and i would have no power because i wanted to ensure my husband didnt get hurt by my medical debt, without that piece of paper, a man who was barely in our lives, held my husbands life in his hands. I knew what my husband wanted, we had talked about death a lot for two people in their 20s, because of my seriously bad health. I knew he would of wanted to be med flighted to a better hospital, but i was powerless to make that decision and its so hard to wonder what if. I was always his emergency contact and the person put on his paperwork to make medical decisions, when he had minor health issues in the past, like a surgery. But I was hospitalized when this happened, so when he was brought into the ER, we didn't know how severe things were and i told him just to put his dad on the forms, since i was hospitalized and nothing life threatening was apparent at first. He was talking and ok, it wasnt until they brought him into "emergency" surgery(it was to fix the break in his knee from the crash but it kept getting pushed back due to more emergency cases coming in, like a gunshot wound. He was getting so annoyed because he wanted a drink of water but couldnt until after surgery) that everything went sideways. I wasnt meaning to diss marriage, just that i wish I had gotten it done legally, instead of thinking we had time to do it perfectly later.

I was once part of an online group similar to You Tube where people used an alias instead of their actual name. One girl in the group started messaging everyone asking for their real names because, “I’m keeping a list of them”. What person is that bored in their life that first of all needs to take the time to do that and second of all really has to know the real names of people that they don’t even know or probably will never meet? Same for my husband and I. We eventually managed to get legally married but due to Covid regulations and our families being French and Scottish, we had to reschedule our wedding celebration three times. Our future date is in July 2021 but we're expecting our first baby and might have to postpone again 😂 None of that matters anyway. The castle, the gown... all that matters is my husband and baby.

I have 2 wedding dates too. I got married by a judge on December 11th and the following October 11th in the church. We count the church date as our anniversary.

Heck, me and my late husband never got legally married. It's a piece of paper. We began dating when I was 14. Engaged at 18. I wanted to finish college and have money saved for our wedding. I didn't want us to start our adult lives in debt. He asked me to marry him again when I was 20 with a "better" ring(although the first ring meant so much to me, he felt he needed to get a bigger diamond, I didn't lol I wore both for so long). Then I got sick. Deathly sick. I have a rare genetic condition that just wanted me dead lol. I was unable to eat food for years, was kept alive with intravenous nutrition infusions 12 hours a day for years, was severely underweight and malnourished. I didn't want to look and feel like death at my wedding. I didn't want my medical debt to be tied to him and ruin his credit and my Dad had much better health insurance (which is sad since he was a firefighter and a instructor at the college's fire science program) so we did vows, we saw each other and husband and wife and planned on having a wedding when things were better. Sadly, on his way home from my hospital room on Christmas morning, a tragic accident from a idiot drunk driver, took him from me. He was in a medicated coma for 11, days and then a hospital related infection killed him. That piece of paper didn't matter to us, we were married, I spend almost half my life with him, 14 years old when we began dating and he was my world.

But unfortunately if you have crappy family on either side, most laws state next of kin makes the final medical decisions, as well as property in their name, estates, individual bank accounts, etc. Not all states, but most. That is what shocked me. i knew about this, that was one of the things i always said if i was around people ignorant enough to not want gay marriage but I never imagined in a million years that my husbands dad would swoop in and make the medical decisions and i would have no power because i wanted to ensure my husband didnt get hurt by my medical debt, without that piece of paper, a man who was barely in our lives, held my husbands life in his hands. I knew what my husband wanted, we had talked about death a lot for two people in their 20s, because of my seriously bad health. I knew he would of wanted to be med flighted to a better hospital, but i was powerless to make that decision and its so hard to wonder what if. I was always his emergency contact and the person put on his paperwork to make medical decisions, when he had minor health issues in the past, like a surgery. But I was hospitalized when this happened, so when he was brought into the ER, we didn't know how severe things were and i told him just to put his dad on the forms, since i was hospitalized and nothing life threatening was apparent at first. He was talking and ok, it wasnt until they brought him into "emergency" surgery(it was to fix the break in his knee from the crash but it kept getting pushed back due to more emergency cases coming in, like a gunshot wound. He was getting so annoyed because he wanted a drink of water but couldnt until after surgery) that everything went sideways. I wasnt meaning to diss marriage, just that i wish I had gotten it done legally, instead of thinking we had time to do it perfectly later.

We eventually managed to get legally married but due to Covid regulations and our families being French and Scottish, we had to reschedule our wedding celebration three times. I do agree that scams should be exposed, I just don’t believe this is one and it seems so sad and demeaning to think a man in a wheelchair has no chance to be with a beautiful woman. Seems like you see him as incapable or unworthy or less than. I’ve seen tons of other beautiful couples who are interabled 🤷🏻♀️
