_So_ cute and cozy with a positive message and lots of heart. Maybe when you give your feedback to the devs, Gab, you could mention adding a "petting" mechanic. For all of us animal lovers, that would definitely ramp up the coziness. 😊
Can we appreciate the fact that Gab kept getting distracted by the ginger game dev during the video, and then basically created the Hobbit version of the dev in game?
Watching this while eating hot soup definitely made me feel a little Hobbit myself. What a wonderful concept for a game, Gab is once again showing me a game I didn't know I really wanted. 🧡I can't wait to explore the Shire and (hopefully) watch Gab explore the Shire next year! 🍲

I am so ridiculously excited for this game! I’ve always wanted to build a hobbit hole for myself irl, this is going to be so much easier as a hobbit hole plan than using an architect. Definitely the same thing. 😂
OMG it's so nice to see Richard Taylor still there! I absolutely loved hearing his passion about LOTR in the extended edition extras. It's also awesome to see new faces at Weta working on the game, bringing this story to new generations. The book captured one generation, the movies another, and now I hope this game does the same. Even better, this expands on the mythology Tolkien built. He created Middle Earth partly because he lamented the lack of true English mythology (while there is some, most of it is actually from elsewhere, like France thanks to William the Conqueror's invasion). What few Saxon myths we have are incredibly sparse. For us to build on Middle Earth is to build our own mythology on the foundation Tolkien laid. I'm so passionate about that subject, and I trust NO ONE more than Weta to take Tolkien's work forward. "... a world where the most important thing you do in the day is help a neighbor. And there aren't any problems that can't be solved by talking things through over a nice meal." That is the epitome of Hobbits. Thorin himself said it best: "If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." I'm so excited to see Gab play this!
Right?? Hearing Richard Taylor's voice took me right back to when I was a teenager, watching my dad's LotR Extended Edition DVDs and all the behind the scenes footage over and over and over.
Oh goodness, I've found my people! Seeing Richard Taylor always puts me in a good mood. I've watched the Appendices more than I've watched the movies themselves, and I still put them on for comfort watching if I've had a rotten day.
When I first heard about this game I was really on the fence about whether it'd actually be good or not. I have super high expectations for anything associating itself with Tolkien's universe, so I thought I'd be disappointed. But just watching this hour-plus of you playing really got me excited! I LOVE how they've done everything! The decorations, the map, the homes, the cooking, the gardening, the animations! it's all so good. The second I finished watching I added it to my wishlist. Thank you so much for playing, it really helped me give this game a closer look! I'm looking forward to March!

Gab's glee at changing the wallpaper colours (and everything else) was really lovely. I also loved watching the video at the start, as an Australian it's always nice to hear AUS/NZ accents online.
I loved The Lord of the Rings since I was 12, when my mother introduced the books to me after showing me the animated films that were out at the time, (1982!) I grew up loving LOTR/HOBBIT and Tolkien's works, and I had raised my children to love it as well. My eldest son is somewhat of an expert in the lore, and my eldest daughter is very much like you with her love for horror and cozy things, including her pumpkin mugs! I am looking forward to having another Hobbit game (I loved the other one from 2003) to sink my teeth into, so to speak,😅 since I've been a lover and connoisseur of everything worthy of Tolkien's approval, which this new game seems to be. I love the fact that you and Sean are interested in a lot of the same things that my grown children and I are interested in! It makes me feel like I'm watching a very dear close friend or member of my Hobbit-loving family! Anyway thank you for even more fun and interesting content! You guys take care and give BB a head scratch for me!❤
Petting the animals (who can have different personalities and can be required to warm up to you) AND being INVITED to dinner parties instead of only ever being the one to have them would be things I’d like to recommend to the developers. This is already SO close to my dream game! I’d like a way to make this game worth playing BEYOND befriending everyone in Bywater though… I want to build the landscape, manage the wildlife I invite into my garden or homestead, and not have to worry about my animals dying after just a few quick seasons with them. Eventually, yes, but I feel like MY life as the player should move along too. I’d like the option to start a family or not. I’d like the kind of homestead I can have depend on all of my decisions and desires. Maybe my family can become playable characters after my original character dies and keep the homestead and relationships with other hobbit’s families going and developing. It would be difficult to have enough content, but if things move slowly enough, but quickly enough to stay interesting, I think it could be a very satisfying game!
Thank you! I thought a couple minutes of it was fine, around 6 minutes I started skipping. Sheesh 18 minutes is almost a video by itself (at least in old TH-cam)

But it looks so cozy and fun, and I love all the little bits of lore, places and people they include from Middle-Earth! This was super fun and relaxing to watch you play. Thanks for a great video, and for sharing this sneak peak with us!
Have you guys ever been to Puzzlewood in the Forest of Dean, Gab? It’s so magical and it’s thought that Tolkien might have taken inspiration from it. It’s my favourite place it the world!
I don't know how I feel about this one yet. The characters just grunting the entire time seems like it'll get real old, real fast. There's something off about their faces, like the guy fishing in their first trailer didn't look like they had a nose, and they all walk weird. Part of cozy games for me is having something to work towards, but that's antithetical to what a Hobbit is. So will there be a goal, or will they stay true to Hobbits preferring to avoid drama and strife? But on the other hand the art style is kinda cute, and the decorating looks amazing.
I have long said that another name for "Cottagecore" is "Shirecore" 😅 either way, I LOVE IT and I cannot wait till i get my hands on this adorable cozy AF game!
It looks good, but I've noticed a couple of bugs I hope they fix soon. Farmer Cotton disappeared in the beginning and they all kept on acting like he was still there 😂. And the text on top of your hobbit never changes. So I'm not sure yet.

You know, I was thinking the same thing But ultimately, I hope your character can eat ( it wouldn't be a hobbit life if you can't settle in with a nice warm second breakfast that you've cooked up) But a lack of a hunger system could be nice purely from the idea that hobbits in the shire always have enough to eat and share that noone really goes hungry
@@Dingobabee I agree. The need I had in mind it was less of a go hungry one and more of a go grumpy one or similar, and if you're hungry you would just walk slower or take longer to do stuff because you cant concetrate well
Idk how well a hunger mechanic would work, considering how often hobbits eat! You'd be doing nothing *but* cooking and eating 🤣😂 I do like the idea of being *able* to eat though. Especially when you have people over for dinner, it would be awkward to just be sitting/standing there while they eat
I've been so excited for this game!!!! Last time i looked into it i only found two articles and one had complained that the hobbits all looked alike??? The game is very stylized but personally i can see big differences between the characters in this short amount of playtime. Golden kiwis! Because you keep them in the fridge then cut off the top and then scoop out the inside like an egg of sorbet They seem to taste different than green kiwis, so refreshing and a little tangy.

no customization options to make your hobbit look like golem i like how the blue bird (of happiness?) leads the way you tell orlo you have no cutlery, like he's not carrying a spoon in his pocket. he's a hobbit after all 34:40 if they have mounts in this game, i wanna see you ride that big white.. i think it's a goose? even though it's by 2 ducks. it's just so much bigger than the ducks gotta be a goose after you discovered foraging, and preceded to spend the next few weeks foraging, i saw many things in trees. you either didn't notice or you just can't harvest from them but it could be a way to get some fruits can you jump? you never tried to jump fences or jump off any cliffs or over anything at all when you were placing things in your pantry at the end. at the top of the screen it said "all (TAB)" maybe that's for placing all items in pantry?
I have just though where the word Hobbit comes from - HO- mo sapiens + raBBIT = HOBBIT , hahaha. Cause they live in holes in the ground and have big feet...
I'm so looking forward to this! I always get sad when we leave The Shire in FotR because we lose all the saucy personal drama and stories for the big epic one.

Something seems to be missing. Where's the pipeweed and the all the beer?
They desecrated Tolkien's world.
Wallets closed to DEI.
Because having alcohol and/or tobacco as part of gameplay can have your game upgraded by the esrb from a e for everyone to a t for teens. This is a cozy game, so they want to aim for as wide of an audience as possible.
@@chelloword Likely excuse. Stop desecrating Tolkien's vision. DEI = DOA
@@wiliestrogue2924 how does the game not including weed and beer have anything to do with dei?
@@rruusseell9948 Changing established IP's to fit today's narrative is DEI. Hobbits and their culture are clearly described in the 1.5 million books sold worldwide. They're easy to find...go read one.
Thank you! I love your mug!
To Weta Workshop: To let us be a hobbit, and to ride into town with Gandalf...thank you! From the bottom of my heart. ❤
This game makes me hungry, time for eleven-sies 😂
Afternoon tea and supper 😂
Thanks for the stream! What a great way to get to know a new upcoming game. It looks super cosy, just the right game for autumn and winter to enjoy with a cup of hot cocoa or tea or mulled wine.
this is such a cozy game! the landscape kind of reminds me of The Good Life! I'd love to see you play that one Gab, it's cheeky and cozy, set in the English countryside, and you can play as a dog or cat too!
OMG Ya really made Ms. Frizzle 😅
huge for us hobbit heads and shirefreaks
I'm watching everyone's let's plays because everyone is showing juuust a little bit of other things
I’m glad to see someone looking forward to this game for what it is instead of jumping on the Twitter drama bandwagon.
Uh oh, what’s the drama?
the what now???
....about?
@@gabriellewhite6194 Basically people accusing the studio of trying to make the Shire “woke” because of a comment on their page about having diversity on their team, and for creating Hobbits with various skin colors.
@@Cure_Hanawhy do ppl always creating drama out of nothing?
What is it about the New Zealand accent that just feels like a cozy hug to me. Loved the message and the game - so cute and lovely.
Golden kiwis!
Because you keep them in the fridge then cut off the top and then scoop out the inside like an egg of sorbet
They seem to taste different than green kiwis, so refreshing and a little tangy.
I cannot tell you how excited I am for this game to come out!
not me getting emotional when we see Gandalf
I forgot about this, i saw it on steam and got excited because i do really like the hobbit and lord of the rings. I look forward to the cozy home building and such. I hope we can keep goats or small ponies.
This game is so adorable, looking forward to the full release :)
Ok this is fucking adorable and now I wanna watch LOTR 🥹🥰
I wonder if they'll have some Howard Shore music in the official release.
Im here for Hobbits and Pumpkin mugs :-D
Eeeee! This looks so adorable! And Gab is the perfect person to watch play it. I'm so ready for these cozy vibes ✨️✨️
Listening to the makers talk about the game actually brought me to tears 😅 I can't wait to play this
no customization options to make your hobbit look like golem
i like how the blue bird (of happiness?) leads the way
you tell orlo you have no cutlery, like he's not carrying a spoon in his pocket. he's a hobbit after all
34:40 if they have mounts in this game, i wanna see you ride that big white.. i think it's a goose? even though it's by 2 ducks. it's just so much bigger than the ducks gotta be a goose
after you discovered foraging, and preceded to spend the next few weeks foraging, i saw many things in trees. you either didn't notice or you just can't harvest from them but it could be a way to get some fruits
can you jump? you never tried to jump fences or jump off any cliffs or over anything at all
when you were placing things in your pantry at the end. at the top of the screen it said "all (TAB)" maybe that's for placing all items in pantry?
I have just though where the word Hobbit comes from - HO- mo sapiens + raBBIT = HOBBIT , hahaha. Cause they live in holes in the ground and have big feet...
Dreams are coming true right now, I'm so happy!! Watching this makes me want to go into the garden and plant veggies but it's autumn now 😂😂
I’m so happy you got a chance to
Try this out, can’t wait until you play the whole game
I'm so looking forward to this! I always get sad when we leave The Shire in FotR because we lose all the saucy personal drama and stories for the big epic one.
I'm so glad you got to play this early!! So excited to get to be a Hobbit myself!!! Getting a wonderful game from the amazing Weta who brought Lord Of The Rings to life, it's perfect!!
It looks cute, I'll be interested to see it when it releases. I hope we get some more details in the graphics
38:58 "Michel" rhymes with "nickel"! I only found that out a couple years ago, when I listened to the audio books. 😅
