- Exploring Leven in Fife. We'd been told of a bold claim by the cafe at Silverburn park that they had the best scones in Fife. Bex, our resident Scone expert, decided that we had to go and investigate.
Along the way we visit Leven Beach, take a look down the slightly depressing high street and (of course) visit the town's old cemetery.
A huge thank you to everyone who's supported our wee channel so far, if you'd like to help support our wee adventures you can do it through through our Ko-Fi or Patreon.
All our videos are hand made from 100% organic ingredients ;). Our content is mostly filmed on a GoPro 11 with a Rode fluffy microphone to keep the wind noise down, with occasional bits on an iPhone13. We also use a DJI Mini 3 drone which we're loving getting to grips with.
We make our own music using GarageBand and the videos are edited in iMovie.
If you'd like to buy DeNiro a biscuit (and he's a good boy, honest) you can via our Ko-Fi link at www.ko-fi.com/ScotlandOnAShoes....
If you'd like to become a patron of our wee channel we also have a patreon at / scotlandonashoestring
We also have an Etsy shop where we sell some of our hand made items. It's at dandbbythesea.etsy.com
DeNiro has grown from a shy and a bit fearful greyhound to a confident, happy pup.
And a bit of a stroppy teenager to boot :)
Wonderful episode! Thank you all very much! 😊🥰💞💜👍
Bex's I can't wait to see the hexi cardigan done. Love watching DeNiro's zoomies. Love all the history, veiws and charity shops. Thank you Iian and Bex for sharing. I love y'alls new channel Places for the past. Have a blessed week.
Thanks as always for the kind words.
PLEASE keep showing us the graveyards! So fascinating! And Bex! Your hexi cardigan is coming out beautifully! I just finished one and absolutely love it! Thank you so much for sharing your craft (and the wool 😁😁). Hugs and thanks from Alabama US!
There's plenty more graveyards to explore, I don't think we'll be stopping any time soon.
Graveyards hold history and charity shops are great. I enjoy your videos. Crochet items are so very lovely.
Glad you like them!
Hopefully, we get to see the completed crochet project! I enjoyed the entire video, but the cemetery was probably my most favorite part.
We do love the cemeteries
Scones, a graveyard, history, charity shops, dogs, ginger cat and crochet! My kind of video!! 😀 Cardi looks good Bex. Gorgeous colourway. You can NEVER have too much yarn 😉 I may have yelled " It's a HOOK" at the screen lol
Pfft, hook, needle, same thing ;)
@@scotlandonashoestring 😂 no comment!
I LOVE a little library! A charity one is ever better ❤
Postie is fab! Cambridge has had painted cows in the past and we're about to get giraffes!
Oooh, giraffes would be cool. Nothihg sayd Cambridge like a Giraffe :O) I remember being in Bristol when the Grommit trail was on, so wanted to take one of them home.
I recall from earlier video the storm's that were rolling through your area. Yep, damage does take time to repair. Those steps may take awhile! Enjoyed the show, thank you!
Thanks !! The storms do seem to be getting more violent and more frequent. Keep checking the roof to see if it's still there.
Ever since your Methil video I,'ve checked out a few more. The commando memorial at Spean Bridge , holds a special place in my heart. My Di knew a few of those guys. AT the time of Scapa Flow Gunther Prien was considered the best U boat commander by Admiral Doenitz . My Granddad served in WW! and in WW2 he was a POW camp Sergeant. A U boat officer pained his portrait in watercolours it was stunning the guy wrote hos name, rank and where he came from in Germany.
Wow, that’s cool. I was working in Orkney a lot of years ago and got a bit obsessed with Prien’s story. Wonder what difference it would make to the outcome if the Grand Fleet had been in when he attacked.
@@scotlandonashoestring In 1955 my Dad was in the Black Watch and served in Berlin . He was a corporal and guarded Doenitz and Hess. in Spandau Prison. My pals Dad did the same duty in 1960, both of them hated Hess. He reported my Dad for smoking on duty . lol
I thoroughly enjoyed your commentary. I haven't heard your delightful Scottish burr since your last visit to Willy & Sarah on the Isle of Skye. I've got some catching up to do. 😁
Ooh, we've been about a bit since then, hopefully you'll like our further adventures.
Nice wool colours. I like cardigans. You can get them off without messing your hair.
It’s sad to see the down town so bleak.
I visited the town I spent my teens in a few years ago and haven’t gone back.
The great shops have parted and left only shopping malls by the highway.
Being northern Ontario, there weren’t any ancient graves either.
Where are you going to visit next week? I’ll be tuning in for sure.
One of my bucket list cemeteries (yes, i have a list) is in Ontario :)
I live in Kennoway, it's a shame to see how bad Leven has got over the years. I think the new railway will be taking folk away instead of bringing tourists in. Silverburn and the beach is still nice though. I envy Bex being able to crochet, it's a skill I just cant get the hang of lol
Hi Lorraine- it will be interesting to see how much the new rail line to Leven will be used. I used TH-cam videos to learn how to crochet but I’m a much better knitter than crocheter!
Ginger cat was clearly in invisibility mode.😮😊
He's so sure of himself, DeNiro would love to go for a play with him :)
Oooh. Best scones. That is quite a claim! You two are up to the challenge of trying many scones to see who you feel is the true winner. Okay. Now I need to bake some scones...but minus an entire pot of jam when serving. LOL
Challenge accepted !! (but yes, too much jam)
Oh my gosh. Pocket dragons I couldn't believe it when I saw them. I have quite a collection of them.
I sold most of mine, ran oout of space and it was them or the lego ;)
You asked about the Draughts World Championship. I got curious if that actually is checkers, which it is, and did the championships are actually still held! Looks like they're every 2 years in France. There's a list of all the world champions on Wikipedia. What's funny is the championships didn't start until 1885, 5 years before this guy died. What's even more comical is I could not find that his name anywhere on that list!
There is a (very) niche website that talks about him. Think it's the Glasgow Draughts club or something like that.
You should go to Tayport and check out the Auld Kirk cemetery also MacDuff cemetery.
We've been to MacDuff for our "graveyards only" channel at @placesforthepast. The Charles Rennie Mackintosh headstone is very imposing.
Aye I checked out caves and castles vid. I’ll check your other channel out. Tayport Auld Kirk is well worth a look.
Go to Moffat Ian! I'd love to see a walk about there. I live in Virginia in the U.S. and my name is ............wait for it................. Dave Moffatt!
Funny you should say that Dave. It’s on the list, we love Moffat… not just because of the best sweet shop ever!
@@scotlandonashoestring OUTstanding! 😁👍
My money's on the ginger moggy.
That's the problem with cats and greyhounds.. the greyhound is faster and has no concept of teeth and claws.
