I’ve been referred for parathyroid removal since recently being diagnosed with hyperparathyriodism. 38 y/o, had kidney stones like 5 times since age of 19, calcium at levels above 11 and 12 in 24h urine, and no one has ever found this at health check-ups before (blood levels of ionized calcium is really high apparently). Nervous for the surgery but glad it’s finally been discovered!

I am your age and just got labs back. Mine is the same, 11.1. From what I’m reading, it’s likely this (hyperparathyroidism). My doctor’s office hasn’t called me back yet, but I imagine they will do imaging to see if the parathyroid glands are enlarged or have a mass on them. I have noticed there are several young ladies on tiktok that have gone through a hyperparathyroidectomy. It doesn’t look bad worst case scenario. I hope things turn out well for you!
@Pryjole Don't mess with it! It can cause osteoporosis, you do not want osteoporosis. I am 62 and my osteoporosis is very severe, still trying to determine why. Have "mildly elevated" calcium, probably not hyperparathyroidism, but something is causing my bones to be really bad way too young.
@@cindylutz7442Same here. I am 65 with severe osteoporosis my 24 hour urine test came back high on the calcium at about 300 blood calcium normal PTH test normal. I’m at a loss they wanna put me on a diuretic and adrug like prolia or fosamax. Trying to see if there’s something I can do naturally to lower the calcium level in my urine. Its pretty upsetting.
13.7 admitted to hospital. They were surprised I was sitting up. After treatment, it was down to ate something still trying to figure out what’s happening no masses found during CAT scans either.
Im from europe, my blood work showed 2.6(normal range between 2.1 and 2.5) after filling up my depleted d3 levels I stopped with D3 supplementation but after few days I developed breathing issues, especially after exercising, also dizziness after standing and hard breathing, could this be because of my calcium levels rised through d3 supplementation?
I took two prevagen a day for 11 months while in school and I lost weight about 5- 8 months in. It’s been 4 years. And I’m still with the same weight loss. Should I worry. How can I reverse the effects. Knowing now what I know the recommended dose is once a day. I would like to gain my original weight back
I was rushed to tbe ER thinking i was having panic attack! They treated me for that until labs showed 11:3 calcium score! Called encronilogist on my own, ill update when i get results
Why is surgery only suggested for those under 50? I believe those are outdated guidelines set in the 1960s. Had parathyroidectomy at 53. Feel so much better. Suffered from anxiety, extreme fatigue, had early onset cataracts and gallstones -- suspect hypercalcemia played a role. Rethink that under 50 criteria please
No clue why my nephrologist won’t get me tested for parathyroid. Just keeps piling the pills on and they aren’t working at all. Only been getting worse 😠🤬
I drank 2 bottles of Pocari Sweat (an electrolyte drink) in a short period of time and now have had stomach pains for the last 24 hours. Can just water fix this?
@@barrychuckle5565 I did lol. Water and laxatives did the trick. I was in a fair amount of pain for a while and started worrying when I read electrolyte imbalances can lead to death. But all good!
just got diagnosed with this. I fractured my heel in May and it's end of October and it won't heal. So after blood work and urine tests; this is what I have. what can I do to get rid of this???
I also have hypercalcemia. Got a surgery back in august however it wasn’t affective. Now I’m on medication. Really depends on how severe it is. Talk to your doctor.
@@yasminmahgoub674 I just got approved for a bone stimulator! I have a non union fracture since May. I'm hoping this machine will work cause I've been you've been told by my Dr that my injury is too old for surgery.
@@gguerrero4769 Yes! It was from hyperparathyroidism. A condition in which the parathyroid was overproducing calcium. I was finally diagnosed in May 2022, and had hyperparathyroidectomy surgery in July and they removed 3.5 of the four glands in my neck. The surgery worked, but they knicked my vocal cord so now my vocal cord is paralyzed, resulting in me being permanently hoarse. Lord if it ain't one thing its another.
my blood work for calcium shows 2.6 normal is between 2.1 and 2.5 I have stiff muscles and tendons in the whole body, breathing issues after exercising, depends if the exercise was taxing or not on the muscles, especially chest area, even after swimming I get breathing issues for 2 or 3 days, I think all the nerves and muscle fascia in my chest area is so stiff that exercising them makes my recovery so taxing on my lungs and maybe heart too... so could this slightly elevated calcium levels which is only 0.1 be the cause for this? about 4 months ago I supplemented D3, but after 3 months I stopped because I filled up my depleted D3... I know that D3 also raises calcium levels... and the breathing issues especially after exercising might not be a coincidence, because all this started a few days after I filled my depleted D3 levels

How about cutting calcium foods, more magnesium, k2, instead of more drugs that create more problems?
it’s nothing to do with diet in my case. it’s the overproduction of PTH hormone in the parathyroids.

You can slow the audio down at your end, go to gear icon on top of page. You can often select the transcript page to read along. Hope this helps.
