My late grand mother had dementia. She could not remember me nor her own daughters but when we played old tunes from the 60s, she could tap her feet. Music does stir the brain.
Rich, you are such an accomplished jazz guitarist, nothing touches the professionalism and talent of jazz guitarists. Thank you to what you do from an old blues guitarist who didn’t progress to jazz !
Indeed, Rich is a fine, fine player. I do a little jazz but primarily a blues guy. I love the mellow sound of archtops and own a Gibson ES-175. I'm interested to watch this entire episode to learn what Rich has to say about these newer Eastman's. BTW, if you like jazzers, here's a link to a fine young lady jazz player from Canada, Jocelyn Gould: th-cam.com/video/Zw3Fy12EZug/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TGDbV8C8NM-88Tbd
when it’s hard for me at heart, I listen to his playing the guitar and it becomes easier for me to produce such a correct sound that it reaches something internal
“That’s my kind of people dementia”… OMG Rich, you killed me. Ha! they’re my kind of people too. I’m a hospice nurse and the jazz guitar student/aficionado. Thank you for keeping me entertained…. God bless you guys
How do you watch a live stream on TH-cam ? I've never seen one; I've only seen these recordings. Also, is there a schedule for these live streams ? Notification ?
Sorry, I missed the live stream. Hope to join the next one. This one looked fun. Retirement Homes morphed into Assisted Living Facilities. Who knows what it will be called by the end of the decade. Probably will have morphed into Assisted Termination Facility.
Listening to the replay here in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The livestream plays 2:00am to 4:00am here, and I just can't make it (or else I'm a zombie the next day). I really enjoy the replay. Thanks so much.
funny, because I just bought my 3rd Eastman Archtop yesterday - a used 580CE that should be here next week. It joins a 603CED-15 and a Romeo (ok, Romeo is a thinline but arch-adjacent). Really great guitars, thanks for your video content. On another note, I played bass in a group that did a lot of nursing homes and assisted care facilities in LA about a decade ago. Always amazing to see how folks would perk up when the music started, and some that were "frozen" would thaw once the downbeat hit. Rewarding gigs...
That blonde 910 is beautiful. I have a custom built 18”Jaen (from Spain) that looks similar. Have you heard or tried a Jaen? The luthier has a website.
I guessed right. The fender overall sounds more fat and rounded tone, still bright but not as sharp as the hb. I like it more.. the hb is not bad at all though, maybe with better pickups it could match the fender. I would guess the hb yas ceramic pickups against alnico on the fender. I liked more the distortion tone on the bridge pickup of the hb though. The fender is a bit muddier compared to it.. now, teles are the most simple guitars around. The fender is 10x more expensive but not 10x better for sure. Great comparison.
Yes they do. Isn’t it funny how how their economy is killing our great capitalist system? We are now number two in the world. Are they doing something right?

Don’t feel bad. One doesn’t “progress” to jazz. It’s just a different style and there are great players in all genres.

Most underrated in today's industry. Richs style and approach is just so relaxing in today's broad world of what people call music.
Just fantastic playing. Wonderful to listen to such a great player. Keep it up ! Thank you for the music.

Underrated player. Would love to hear you live with a full band one day.
I bought this model last year and am very pleased with it. great guitars.
That was nicely played, The Look of Love. Goodbye Burt, rest well.
THANKS FOR SHARING RICH.
Wow! Beautifully arranged classics as always Rich. 52:00 Thank you for covering The Beatles.

Any thoughts on Samick arch tops? Possibly a show comparing the top of the line Smack and a middling Eastmans?

Just get an Eastman 810ce with floating pickup last month! Love it so much 👌

Hi Rich. does Eastman make a 16" with all solid woods? If so , which model numbers? Their website is really confusing.
Thanks
HI Rick! The AR605CE, the AR805CE, and the AR905CE are all 16 inch with solid top and solid sides and backs!
sounds. great. Rich

I bought the c instrument real book , I hope it’s the right one. I’ve been putting it off for years.
When you say grinding down the bridge what exactly do you mean?
Thanks as always!
Classic finish for the second one

Do you resell these guitars or are they just part of a personal collection?
I sell most of them. This one is for sale right now. I do keep ones that I find to be very special, though!
I struggle about keeping this one but the bills won
Man, it must be nice to be able to buy a bunch of multi thousand dollar arch tops whenever you feel like it.
Many of his guitars are under $1000
I love You..name of tune..Grant Green..Wes would have phrased very differently.
Can be hard to play some ''pop'' tunes. Like Feelings😀
brilliant
What kind of coffee?
Fretboard looks like glass😂
Nice but to pricey for me
Jazz annoys me, but you make it palatable.
The Chinese Communist Party thanks you.
Yes they do. Isn’t it funny how how their economy is killing our great capitalist system? We are now number two in the world. Are they doing something right?
Not even they can build these guitars anymore for those prices. That’s coming to an end. This particular guitar is a collector.
