- Fly Fishing - A short video showing the fishing of north country spiders with the traditional upstream presentation on the River Twiss in the Yorkshire Dales. #flyfishing #troutfishing #flyfishinglife
Loving these videos. Would it be possible to add some commentary as you go-not necessarily about where you are on the river as I get some prefer to keep that quiet to avoid too much fishing pressure-but about how you are fishing, which flies, set-up, etc? I’m still learning and starting to tie spiders so knowing how people fish them would be a great learning opportunity. Thanks
Hello Robert. Great video! I like your tying videos and really enjoyed this fishing one too. All the best.
Always look forward to seeing you out and about on the river Robert. That last trout was a lovely looking fish. With the onset of September and hopefully a little rain I hope its not too long before your out entertaining us again? many thanks. Oh and by the way: what fly did the trick that time?
our remains a wonderful sport and a fantastic excuse to get outdoors and enjoy nature...for all the right reasons.
Great video. Beautiful countryside. Which spiders are you using?
If memory serves, it was a Brown Owl on the point, a Black Magic on the middle dropper, and Greenwell on the top dropper.
Can a ask you how much line including your leader would you be using for this method . Fantastic video .👍
Robert, depending on the speed of the current and make up of the stream. I tend to fish a 9ft leader with between 3ft and 5ft of fly line outside of the rod tip. Hope that helps.
@@thedalesangler fantastic many thanks.👍
Great video, been looking into this style of fishing wets. Are you using a stiff tapered leader or a level leader ?
I use my own 9ft tapered leader design.
@@thedalesangler is it quite a stiff or supple leader?
The butt section is quite stiff, as I use 15lb red Maxima for the rest of the leader i use Bayer Perlon. My leader design is 26" 15lb. 10" 12lb. 18" 8lb. 18" 6lb. 18" 4lb. 18" 2.7lb
@@thedalesangler awesome cheers :)
@@thedalesangler is the red butt section to help u detect takes like sighter do on euro nymphing ?.
What a lovely stretch of river. Where is it?
It is the River Twiss.
Is it necessary to walk inside the creek for tactics ?
Yes.

Hi Bill, I use a Marryat 10ft 3 weight rod for fishing spiders.
@@thedalesangler I am quite new to river fly fishing I have brought a so called euro nymph rod I thought it was called up stream nymphing the rod is greys fin 10 foot #3 what do you think
@@billcartwright9581 The Greys 10ft 3 weight is a great rod for fishing nymphs and spiders.
