Greg here is a tip for mounting straps, bracelets, adapters on ANY 5600, 5000, 5610 model G. First remove the bezel of the watch so you have more room to work. Then it will be much easier.
I have the Combi Bracelet from Ali Express. I payed 8 $ for it, including shipping. I have been wearing it on my DW5600 for 6 months now and it's very comfortable. The only drawback is that it's difficult to get it in place. I had to drill and grind the bracelet to make it fit.
I have installed the same aftermarket combi bracelet to my 5610, and I have noticed that the hole on the bracelet where the springbar goes does not have the same parameters as the hole on the original resin strap. The hole on the chinese combi bracelet has a little smaller diameter (to fit the 1.6mm - 1.8mm spring bar) and what is even a bigger problem (and it is also visible in your videos too if you look closely enough) - the hole on the combi bracelet is not in the correct position - when you put the bracelet into position (into the watch), the bracelet hole is not fully aligned with the pin holes on the watch, forcing the springbar sit a bit off the correct position. This means that the springbar pins could be misaligned on either side. I have grinded off a little plastic from the bracelet so that it could fit deeper into the correct position.
Two of my favourite G Shock (and watches in general) are the 5610 and the Casioak. However, the one downside is I find the straps a little uncomfortable on my wrist due to the ripple design of the bands. I’ve tried 3rd party NATO adapters but they always ended up popping off. The shape of the fitting makes it hard to have an abundance of choice for these two watches, so the search continues...
thanks sir for posting video about cheap copy combi bracelet from china, i got one today. But please can u make any update for the bracelet since then? its almost 1 year now so just curioes how its held up. thanks
I always give the watch band a tug to make sure I got the spring bar located.I wear glasses,so I have a cheap watchmaker's magnifier that clips onto the side of my glasses and with two available lenses or a combination of both,I get all the magnification I need. They're available on Amazon.......................................
Something to consider. Cheap Chinese products don't always have good quality control. So your odds of getting a dud are higher. So even if the experiment goes well that doesn't mean others will have the same experience
I have a GW-B5600 that came with a combi bracelet direct from Casio, and even that one is tough to get back in place securely. It's bad enough that it takes less time to remove the bezel, install the bracelet, then install the bezel than it does to get the combi bracelet seated with the bezel in place. If I leave the bezel on and install the bracelet, even though I can hear and feel the spring bar locking in, there's still no guarantee that it won't fall off sometime in the next day or two, but if I remove the bezel first, that bracelet will not fall off I have to wear +1.50 reading glasses to read small print, but I have a pair of +3.00 that are there specifically for watch work. If I'm having a particularly harder than usual time seeing, I'll put on the +3.00, and if that isn't enough, I'll put the +1.50 on over top of them. I like the combi bracelet, and I'd like to have one for my other two 5600s, but at $150+ each, I don't like them that much. I found them a long time ago on AliExpress, knowing that they were Chinese knockoffs, but I haven't been too sure If I should buy a couple from there.
If you're using the cheapo AliExpress "combi" bracelet, just use the included springbars as they are thinner. The holes in this copy brace are smaller in diameter than the original bracelets. Trying to install the original springbars from the original bracelet will cause issues 9 times out of 10 even if it's not immediately apparent.
Has anyone tried one of these Chinese combi bracelets on any other Casios? I’m thinking of trying one on the ultra budget MRW-200h but assume it’s not going to fit.
Hey Greg! This video inspired me to pick up that alternative combo bracelet for my DW5600. I absolutely love the fit and feel. I would like to pickup another Casio/GShock just so I can wear the compatible combo bracelet on other watches, but I am unsure about compatibility. Would you be willing to make a video on what other models are compatible with the 5600 bracelets and bands? If anyone could do it, it would be you thanks to you production and hugely comprehensive collection. Thank you!!
Spring bar attachment on these is a nightmare. I got some recently and found it impossible. If you look at the OEM versus the copy there's slightly more material on the copy. I used a Stanley and shaved the centre part down a little and it fitted a lot easier. I had the same looked like they fitted but they popped out and I lost the spring bars. I did get one to fit but I was worried about the damage I did to the spring bar.
I found a post on the Watchuseek forum where someone put the Casio Combi bracelet on a GBX100 watch. That bracelet was originally made for the GWM5610. So... it worked for that person.
Tried to install...failed! Took to one jeweler who said holes were off....took to a more experienced watch repair shop and dropped it off...hoping for the best!
I would discourage you from buying cheap combi bracelet knockoffs to prevent damage to your watch. I got many "Chinese" Casio bracelets (and bracelets in general), and the "end links" rarely have holes drilled straight. They tend to be slightly misaligned or come at an angle which puts the spring bars and the lugs under too much stress. The end links either come off (as in your case), damage the spring bar, or - most probably - damage the watch's rubber holes in the lugs. You can see the same issue at 0:39 on the right. The spring bar seems bent at the top and under more stress and can snap or damage your watch over time. You can partially alleviate the problem by using a thinner spring bar, but it will snap at less force (e.g. diver's watches' spring bars must be able to handle >= 200 N of force). I bought many aftermarket bracelets and adapters for Protreks and G-Shocks, and NONE of them was any close to the originals. I had to shave off metal and adjust the holes, but most of them went to the bin. I've had the best experience with Jays and Kays adapters, but I've also heard stories of their end links snapping lugs over time.
I decided to keep the GW-5000 as-is since the watch band/strap on it was already better than regular resin band/straps. I may change my mind later but that’s my decision for right now.
Hi Greg, great channel, full of very useful reference material. I have a query, I'm hoping you can help me with. I live in the UK and have just imported the GW 6900-1 multiband six solar watch. I love it. It was whilst watching videos, including yours, on changing the awful strap to the combi bracelet. I ordered the V1 combi bracelet bracelet from the GW B56OO-2ER model . The problem I have is the end links. They both have very different fittings from eachother. The 12 o'clock link is much bigger than the 6 o'clock link and no matter how I try I cannot get it to line up with the holes in the lugs. I can only get the 6pm link to fit. How can I make the 12 o'clock link fit ?, or do I need to replace this part, it's driving me mad. Hope you can help.
Thanks for the review! Did you ever try curved pins to make fitting these bands a bit easier? I’m unable to get the regular spring bars seated properly.
Someone included both straight and curved pins when I ordered third-party bracelets. I was able to use the straight pins but I’m glad I have the curved pins just in case I need them eventually.
I looked at the band for the GA700 which is sold at PacParts.com and it’s made only for the GA700. This makes me think you can’t easily use bands or bracelets from G-Shock squares like the GW-M5610. Jays and Kays sells an adapter which would work with the GA700. th-cam.com/video/Gc2x4-tUwUo/w-d-xo.html
Was wondering if you might provide a link to the inexpensive combi bracelet? Also, if you might know if one would fit on my GW-5510? BTW, Thanks for your review on this watch!
Hello Greg, I really love your different « shows » 👍 Do you if the GW 5610 composite bracelet would be suitable with my GW 5000 1 JF? Thank you for your advices.

Thanks for cleaning your nails before you did the closeup. Those spring bars can be tricky for sure especially if they get bent a little bit.
Lmaooo the Rock climbing part had me rolling 🤣😂
Good. That’s the reaction I wanted. Otherwise Tom Cruise yelling at me would be pointless and traumatic.

Did you get a chance to try this bracelet on screwback model like GW-5000?

Question, where did you get those off white inserts that you use to wrap your watches around? Thanks and great video!!

I haven’t done it myself but there are other guys online who have put the bracelets on their GW5000 watches.
I absolutely love these bands they are a great value compared to the original combi at 160$ and up.
You've met Tom Cruise?
Tom Cruise 😂😂😂
IMHO those combi bracelets are tremendously overrated. On my GW-M5610 I use adapters and a variety of NATO's. Thanks for an informative video.
