When in context of say, a minor 7th chord, you create a sort of tragically beautiful chord, oftentimes referred to as a "half diminished" chord - which really is kind of funny, is anything ever really half diminished? When played in context of a dominant 7th chord, well let me just say, aint nothing really halfway sounding about that. I like to call the flat 5 - God's interval - because it helps add a layer of spirituality to some harmonic instances - good question. @@playlikerudy
