How to Learn Bass Guitar CHORDS (Beginners)
#electricbass #bassguitar #basslesson
Hey everyone - today we are going to learn the very beginnings of playing chords on bass guitar. I love using chords and find it is a very underrated capability of the bass guitar.
We will learn
1. 2 note Major and Minor chords
2. How to learn the patterns and strengthen your fingers with them
3. What context you should use these chords in
We can take this particular topic a lot further in the future by adding extensions and notes on top of these 2 note dyads. For now I kept it very simple for people who haven't yet tried or are very new to playing chords on bass.
As always I really appreciate you stopping by and checking out the channel.

    Great tips that I wish I knew when starting out. 100x agree on the "practice whenever you can.. it adds up" thing. Especially when starting to build that coordination and muscle memory, frequency is so important. You also made a great point regarding using different techniques even as a beginner... one need not learn to play "Teen Town" before experimenting with pick, thumb, muting, etc.

    There's some excellent wisdom here that I wish I knew when starting on bass. Your advice regarding "micro practice" is spot-on. I know too many people who started on an instrument and wouldn't touch the thing unless they had an hour to devote at a time, which hardly ever happened, so they eventually gave up. "you just have to be funky!" , love it!

      What happens if I flat the 5th?

    • @carmeeno
      @carmeeno 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      well Rudolph, great question! But like all good questions, it depends on the context. When in context of say, a minor 7th chord, you create a sort of tragically beautiful chord, oftentimes referred to as a "half diminished" chord - which really is kind of funny, is anything ever really half diminished? When played in context of a dominant 7th chord, well let me just say, aint nothing really halfway sounding about that. I like to call the flat 5 - God's interval - because it helps add a layer of spirituality to some harmonic instances - good question. @@playlikerudy
