28:20 believe it or not most roads in the US are actually pretty safe at least when it comes to freeways. If anything those curves and grades on that bridge wouldn't pass any us standards as most US semi truck brakes tend fail and result in runways if they go down a hill with grades above 5% at any speed above like 50km/h lol.
I made a forum post about being able to create stand-alone train stops using exactly the same logic you used to create your stops except I said they should be able to be added with platforms like how bus stops have built in shelters. It’s so awesome seeing that the capability is kinda already there and that you’re using it so effectively. Keep it up!
For even more realism, i would suggest changing all outside connections outside of chowder bay to Amtrak lines (blue). Amtrak is the regional train service here in the northeast, where the MBTA (commuter rail / Purple) is used in the region around Boston.
They work well when you use the "surface" to contain the passengers too. Just make sure that the "stop" marker is contained within the area (it can be a bit finnicky but it relieves the suicidality of the passengers somewhat...)
Fences around the train station and especially its parking lot would be a good touch. I think those concrete barriers look a little out of place and insufficient. Keep up the great work! You’re the only CS2 content creator I can consistently watch. The balance of commentary and time lapse is excellent
From a historical context, it makes sense to have a gazebo at a train station. It used to be an occasion for someone to return from a long train journey. Families and friends could come out and use the gazebo to celebrate their arrival. I like what you did with the custom train station. I only wish a small town train depot asset was available in game so you didn't have to do all this tedious work tricking the game into something it should have by default.
I'd say "BMTA Westpoint line" for the new train line since it's for serving Westpoint. You could also make routes going [Westpoint to Chowder Bay to Out of region] allowing a full route between all those destinations. Otherwise, i think your city still needs some stuff like Deathcare, Healthcare. But also parkings and other stuff. There is cars aaaall around the streets ^^"

Definitely busses! But also bike and pedestrian connections! Without a car it is extremely difficult at the moment to get to the other side of the tracks or to the harbor.
I think a custom roundabout might function better where the highways meet under the RR bridge. It would also look a tad bit better imo lol. Great video, love the series!!
@@dalton-at-work The northeast and New England actually have a lot of roundabouts! I think Massachusetts has something like 90 of them. But it also has plenty of dangerous intersections too lol. So either way it's pretty realistic. 😄
to make it easier on the bridge, when using the upgrade tool, drag along the whole length and then you can slide it up to the rail in one click and it will be perfectly straight. Love how this is coming together. Thanks for some great inspiration in CS1 and now 2 also.
Some things I’d love to see you implement are a high school sporting complex. Coming from growing up in a community such as this, the high school sports are a huge deal for these communities. They turn into big events that everyone goes to even if you aren’t related to anyone school aged. The entire town shows up for them. Especially if there are rival games. Maybe if you create two competing school districts to be rivals within their tight county. That would be really cool to see. The other thing I would find really interesting is a cruise port. I know that in real life it is located in Boston but because of the quaint town and archipelago of islands, this could make for a great destination for a cruise port. Can even lead to story progression with the need to add in trams and other local transportation and attractions.
Specifically I can see the redevelopment of the chowder bay harbor being a great place for the port because of the historic old town being a great attraction for tourists and can lead to a higher density redevelopment of that whole harbor for high rise condos and other cool modern buildings around the port next to the historic old town center. Also would be cool if we can find a way to place a specialty building to be the county seat and specifically if it could be near the port old town to expand upon that mix of historic and modern architecture near the newly developed port.
I see pedestrians on Route 28 around 18:25! Perhaps this is an example of the term "Massholes" as some people unkindly refer to Massachusetts residents.
This is actually awesome that you showed this technique off as i've been trying to find a method to create viaduct train and metro stations, unfortunately in that application the platforms are a little more difficult.
You could have a small railroad company in the county as Easthaven Railroad for exemple. They could do the regional passenger transport and some cargo routes if you want. It could bring a little bit more RP in your map
also when using the invis roads, use snapping to connect to other invis roads, but always turn snapping off when connecting to normal roads and slide it up to the road until it connects (the 2 green lines connect to the road), if you have snapping enabled when connecting to normal roads, it does the connection into the road too far and causes issues with vehicles doing crazy stuff although yours look to be behaving ok, but thats the general rule, as many have found their vehicles doing crazy stuff, i think FewCandy had issues too
I'm way late to the party but a pedestrian bridge over the tracks connecting the park feels like a missed opportunity. Great work though I love this series
There are benches with roofs attached that can be grabbed from the tennis courts as well for train stations, but hopefully when custom assets can be added we'll get more options for shelters
One cool additional detail for the custom bridge could be a pedestrian path or pedestrian road on at least one side of it. There are small bridges like these all over New England and the Northeastern US and most have dedicated space for walkers or runners (and cyclists, but that's not in the game yet. It would be cool to see all three being used simultaneously in the game!
You make the game look fun doing all this detailing I wish we could do it in the base game right, the train station especially because it’s not massive but it works and looks great
Awesome stuff like always mate keep it up! I’ve a suggestion for the chowder bay station, perhaps since there is only two rail lines in service make the transfer at the station there across platform and not that you’ve to first go up to the bridge across the tracks.
Custom train stops in a headline streamer's build! Sweet... you may want to take a look at the Hangaround Area for the "platforms" and there's a Greenhouse asset that works well for part of a station building (mixed with a L% low commercial). Some carports also work nicely for station shelter components. Dome and I managed to get some nice looking stuff done (there's pictures over on the "showcase" on the Modding Discord). So, custom airstrip next then? ;o)
It would be nice if you could designate train stops on sections of track without there being an official train station, even for cargo. That way you can create custom train stations and have cargo trains pull into industrial areas and stop at factories like in real life.
I think it is pretty unrealistic to remove the crossing at 31:10 if a train broke down in front of the one crossing and there was an emergency on the other side of the track it would be bad. For safety, it is important to have multiple crossings.
Or an overpass to provide a crossing that is not dependent on railway conditions. They even have pretty steep arched crossings over things such as this in New England.
Now I think we need custom ferries to islands that have no bridge access. If thats not possible, just custom ferries overall. Maybe you can now implement those cargoship stops in your ports?
I love this idea. I also think that would really add to my idea of adding a cruise port to redevelop the harbor at chowder bay. Some of these islands could become attractions for the cruisers and maybe even some private resorts. And there can be a small network of island hoper ferries.
Dude they should be paying you to create assets like legit get your assets approved and then have them be added to the game because there’s only only one train station I would love to see this as an actual asset
Hi! you should maybe change the rolling stock for your local train lines as the default one is a very high-speed looking one and choose something different
Very minor detail, but at the two cul-de-sacs next to the train station, why not add a pedestrian path between them? Where I live, walkways passing train tracks are fairly common so I don't think it'd be out of place. Would make walking to nearby stores or the train station slightly easier for the people who live there.

@@--h1Your problem is connecting invisible paths (road and/or ped) into growables (i.e. zoned stuff). @ 31:00 you deleted some grade crossings and while I understand that they're not as prevalent in Europe as in NA, the US has a LOT of grade crossings, and you actually kinda deleted the most reasonable ones. The trains have to be going slow already anyways for the train station so it's not uncommon nor unreasonable to see at grade crossings near train stations (specially because train stations tend to be near denser areas)
