I have used Simon’s videos and found him not only very good at what he teaches, but also very in depth, his recommendations are usually spot on and I would say that the person who you need to talk to, is the provider ie where purchased from, it is their responsibility and should that be an issue, talk to your bank and they will sort any refund out.
Thank you Simon most Helpful
Thanks for all of the info. Great video ❤
Great video, thanks
thanks for the vid i get alot informations thanks again
Such a comprehensive guide to bits for your phone. Brill. I'll be coming back to this in the future as my needs develop. Blessings.
Very straight forward, informative, and well presented.
What a solid video! I like how you don’t appear to be rushing through the info. Very thorough ❤
Spot on again Simom. Thank you for the thought you put into your work.
Brilliantly done, Simon. Thank you!
Hi Sir I like your videos and learning a lot
I just started to think about shooting on my iphone so great info Simon!
Thanks for sharing really useful information and settings. Best wishes Graham 🤲
Great video! Continue to deliver amazing content! 👊🏾👊🏾🫵🏾 People nowadays don’t want to think for themselves. They want everything dictated to them. Do your own research on the equipment and make an educated decision that meets your creative needs!
Nice work, thanks 👍
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Thankyou 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Excellent video.❤
Thank you!
Thank you, Simon for all of the knowledge you have selflessly shared with us. You are an appreciated gem.
My pleasure. And welcome to the Patreon!
Great video!
Thanks!
The Freewell phone grip looks terrific! I had a really cheap alternative with basically the same functionality but poor build quality and it broke after a couple of years and is no longer available.
I love this video showing how to use the iPhone 15 Pro series as an actual pro camera. As the saying goes, the best camera 📸 is the one with you.
Just getting started with iPhone filming… what a great guide you created! Thank you. Can you recommend a vertical clamp or one that swivels?
Would you advise buying light for recording with a "streaming" like setting ?
Which wireless mic fits the Freewell case? The Comica needs an extender. With the Hohem I6 Gimbal what can I use? I have the freewell setup and the Hohem and really need a mic fir outdoor use.
Best iPhone kit video I’ve seen.
yayy thanks!
the new dji mic 2 that comes with he pocket 3 connect to the iPhone via bluetooth. 👌🏻
Great video Simon I was wondering how long the iPhone 15pro battery lasts when filming in log? I am thinking of getting one. Thanks Glenn
You don’t need to convert the Rode Wireless Go files anymore, a firmware update fixed that, and you now immediately get wav files you can download immediately. The new Rode Wireless Pro also come with a charging case and have the advantage over the DJI’s that once you connect the charging case to your conputer, you can download the audio files from the two receivers at once. Oh and the Rode lets you also configure a button on the receivers to start and stop recording.
What is the difference in results between using an anamorphic lens and applying some lens distortion in post?
very helpful video! been following your stuff for years and been so helpful.
I've got an interesting problem you may know the solution too...
I do allot of vfx and it would be amazing to find a gimbal/ arm that would work for an iPhone 15 pro ( or any camera due to using a cage) that can do programable & repeatable camera moves for advanced cloning comps etc. Cant find a solution that's not a commercial robot arm and don't want to have to learn another coding language to build one myself!
the only thing I've found close is the dji memo time lapse recording where you can set up to 4 positions but obviously wrong frame rate and you cant store the keyframe positions to repeat.
PLEASE HELP SIMON!
All the best,
Luke
I'd recommend a Magsafe iPhone tripod mount- much less fiddly than a clip
This is by far the best review video I’ve come across. I’m now motivated to get out and shoot professionally and will be investing in Patreon.
thank you! much appreciated
Please help…. Would this be good to use on a movie set for photography and poster images? To many cameras to learn to use. I need something fairly quick since I’m not professional…. or should I go with camera. Thanks
Check out the Hollyland Lark M2 - you don’t have to unplug it to listen back to audio.
Cracking content especially for ambitious beginners like myself looking to get in to creative work.
Easily interpreted on my part and I am currently waiting to pull the trigger on a large accessory kit with beast grip including their entire lens range and cage.
I do like the look of moment lenses but if I’m ordering from the US I may as well do a one shop stop. What do you think on their products?
Anyhow I will be investing in your patron for sure once it all arrives. I’m waiting on their telephoto lens and MKIII adapter to become available.
thank you! I really like the Moment setup and they don't pay me to say that (or even send free stuff). Being in the UK makes it tricky to get the stuff delivered, with extra duty added as well. Plus sometimes not everything is in stock at the same time, when you want to do that big order to at least cut the shipping costs. As kit though, its great and flexible
Overall, you appear to have the most experience when it comes to iPhone filmmaking then anyone else I’ve listened to
Dear Simon, ardent fan of your work... Request you to please drop a video on filters and accessories for the Sony Xperia series of devices.
hi there, thank you. This channel is all iPhone but I have a second channel th-cam.com/channels/Qk-WU7eu_f-a-J5v8SrRxg.html
I see it is new Channel.
Simon, I appreciate you and your content! Do the Moment ND filters fit over the T-Series Moment lenses?
you need a Moment filter mount and there are different versions for T and M series
@@HorrocksoniPhone thank you!
Awesome video. Do any of the gimbals work with black magic?
Blackmagic app currently doesn't support any gimbals
Thanks Simon for all the information in this video. Unfortunately, I miss further information about the accessories of many tools for the iPhone. I use the iPhone with the DJI Osmo mobile 6 gimbal. Due to the amount of data, an external SSD hard drive is required for Pro Res recordings. I use the T7 Shield from Samsung. What I'm looking for, however, is a holder for this hard drive so that I can attach it to the Osmo mobile 6 via the thread at the bottom. I've seen something like this before, but without any further information. Do you have any information about such a mount? That would be perfect.
I've seen people get creative in various ways. This video was interesting: th-cam.com/video/WxjMTBJPrv8/w-d-xo.html
hey, Simon, thanks for the video. does it make sense to use filters without lenses? I have a KF ND filter and it looks like I can't just buy some filter mount for the phone that will suit for many other filters
of course. Many people only use filters, just the ND to get more motion blur
Hello, What is the brand to the filter mount in the video? Come in at 15:50.
all kit is linked in the description of the video
The Comica lav cannot be used with a case. My Fulaim X5 is a competitor with on board recording & accepts wired lavs and half the price of the Blink Me B2.
Thank you! I noticed you are using a JJC iphone clip that attaches to an andoer tripod. I cant seem to find the same jjc iphone clip as yours. Do you happen to remember where you purchased it or is there an alternate clip that would attach to the andoer tripod? Thanks!
Have you tried the link in the description. JJC Clamp: geni.us/njpc0
hi there. I don't want a rig for my 15 pro max but I would like an affordable, simple (maybe clip on?) variable ND filter...which one would you recommend? Thanks
I suggest the Moment case, 67mm filter mount plus
with K&F Variable ND: geni.us/3XQ8O0f
ok...I will look at these accessories. Thanks! @@HorrocksoniPhone
hi there. Awesome video. I just got a iphone 15 pro max and I want a small shot gun mic for the phone. I have a Rode Videomicro and I wonder if all I need is a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter to make it work with the iphone.Previously this mic would get power directly from my sony FX30-will it get power from the phone? or do you know of any compact shot gun mic similar in size to the videomicro that already has a USB-C connector? trying to avoid using dongles and extra cables...thanks so much for your videos. Always awesome!
this is from Rode: You also need to use the SC7 TRS to TRRS cable to connect the VideoMicro to your USB-C adapter. We'd also suggest using the official Apple 3.5mm - USB-C cable.
www.apple.com/au/shop/product/MU7E2FE/A/usb-c-to-35-mm-headphone-jack-adapter
thanks so much! I have this TRRS cable. It has 3 notches in one end and it came with the Rode Videomicro - however I also found a similar mic that already has a USB-C connector. I decided to give it a try! The comica VM10 PRO Camera Microphone Dual-Mode USB Shotgun Microphone- but I will also get the adapter in case thanks so much@@HorrocksoniPhone
thank you...I'm sure I have this TRRS cable for the Rode videoMicro. I also found a similar micrpphone that already has USB-C connection- The comica VM10 PRO Camera Microphone Dual-Mode USB Shotgun Microphone and I have decided to give it a try. I think it will be similar to the Rode. Better than the iphone built in mic for sure. Thanks so much! @@HorrocksoniPhone
Blackmagic app does have a log profile
it does now, yes
If a smartphone gamble can’t handle the weight of these rigs, lenses, filters, etc. then I advise to buy one of the smaller gimbals made for mirrorless cameras. They will allow you to use most anything you would want to put on your phone. They do cost more, but if you’re already buying an expensive phone, lenses, rigs, etc. another $100, or so, shouldn’t be a problem.
I was using a smooth 5s and just switched to the MOZA Aircross S. It has been able to handle quite a bit
I use a Zhiyun M3 crane, that’s takes pretty much everything!
Titled Best iPhone filmmaking kit but recommends multiple tripods, gimbals, cases, etc. Which one is BEST?
Did you say Blackmagic Camera app doesn't have log profiles? It does!
if you have an iPhone 15 Pro / Max
@@HorrocksoniPhoneok, but in six months, most people will be using the 15 series. That’s just natural progression. In fact, the new video features is driving purchases of these new phones.
So I don’t need to upgrade my 12 max or 13 max to 14 or 15 max? You said the camera tech hasn’t changed much?
some small changes, Apple Log. Cinematic mode on the 14 Pro/max is a step up from the 13 PM. If you like the idea of a 5x tele go for the 15 PM
Incomplete review. You did not demonstrate the Polar Pro Kit. I use their stuff, and it´s really good, specifically the filters. The Freewell VNDs are not very good as they tint the center of the image when used at maximum setting.
I know them but since they owe affiliate commission and decided not to pay it, I won't be using or promoting their products again. I'd rather use something like Moment setup so I can use regular 67mm filters
what about the case for mics? You're using a naked iPhone which most people wouldn't
Great videos, but the sound of your voice makes me fall asleep
Nice video... informative... just the dead animal above the door... makes it disgusting...
there are no dead animals 😂 my mum makes cloth dolls and animals. It's made of fabric
Ios? 😂
I still have not received my order after 3 months nor are they responding to my emails. Maybe you need to address this issue as you promoted their gear and influenced me and many others to buy. Also next time maybe do some due diligence on companies that send you free stuff. Shiftcam's many issues go back a long way.
Got mine fast, prolly a solo issue
@@BlackoutRecon yeah right. Do a little digging on Shiftcam & come back & tell me you still stand over that comment.
Sounds like you have your own issue happening. He doesn’t work there. If your mailman is trash, that’s not on him lmfao
Not the sharpest tool in the box are you @@IJustSkitMyPants?
Me too, I was influenced one time to go outside and it rained, I should go back and sue that influencer.
