    Hi Guys from Great Britain, I'm Bob and I've just returned to photography after many years, my last camera was a Pentax ME super! I plunged straight in and bought a Z8 with a 24-120 and a 180-600. Your video has been the most useful guide to the camera. I can't thank you enough for your time in creating this epic film, hopefully I will be able to take some interesting shots as I go around the UK. Thank you again. Bob

    This video has been very helpful in many ways. I have the Z8 and had made some settings in wildlife, using bank A. Today I used Bank B for landscape. I'm thinking of a Bank C for general photography. Understanding the Banks much better. I appreciated your platform for the video. To be honest I never thought I'd watch the complete 3 Hour video, But I Did! Easy to understand and interesting to follow. To my knowledge, Nobody have ever gone through everything from setting up your camera to processing the photos, not to mention taking us on the shoot with you. Great job!

    Thank you for putting this together. I know it's a lot of work. It's interesting to watch how other people edit. I watched this mainly to see what the differences between the Z8 & Z7ii might be. Not sure I think for landscape photos there is enough difference, other than the tilt-screen, to be worth the extra price. This has been very helpful.

    Thank you just purchased a Z8 and this video has been invaluable. Leofoto also make a similar tripod head which is very good.

      They do! I have it and it’s a great alternative. The accratech is a from small US based company and the quality reflects that, but in future guides I will mention the leofoto

    Thank you so much! So helpful! I hate to question you, but I believe sport I S disables left to right stabilization. For panning shots like a bird in flight so the camera isn't fighting against you while panning. I could be wrong about that.

    Telephoto f mount with ftz convertor. I use the 500mm pf. I thought it was a great lens on my D500 but it actually works better, esp focus, on the z8. A real unexpected bonus!!

    Kemper, really appreciate the time and effort you put into this video. I can't tell you the number of times I've watch different sections of it over and over as I continue to learn and grow in my photography journey. I had a quick question for you - do you need the long lens head to get the L mount to attach to the tripod or will the L mount attach to the tripod without it? I noticed that the long lens head is a bit on the pricier side. Trying to prioritize what all I can buy and was wondering if the lens head can be a later purchase

    • @summitbid
      @summitbid  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much for watching and the support! So you can use the L Bracket on any arca Swiss compatible tripod head. I have found that the heads Leofoto makes are all very high quality and are not as expensive. They are also readily available on Amazon

    I really like the SDCARD idea with the CFEXPRESS card as backup for Landscape photography. I ordered two 64GB cards for that purpose. We are heading to Scotland this week t ok the Outer Herberdies for 10 days. Shall try this approach.

    2:12:58 😅 you guy's should go back and shoot the mountain you're completely ignoring. The video of the sunrise reveals the tops to the bottom. So if you can't see the elephants, right where your right hand is at the bottom of the trunk. The seam just to the right up is the separation line. Looks like maybe 3 on the right, and maybe 1 extra on the left. I think that bit of snow is helping too.
    If I was there, that would be my composition 😅 I get that you were waiting, but I would've shot it grey.
    **Also next time try shooting that same mountain but with saturation turned up to the max. It'll turn the mountain orange-red, especially if you wait till just be for sunset to get a darker blue sky. 🤔 Not sure if Earth would rotate tho.

    Loved the video. I won't lie it was a marathon watch! being used to the standard 10-25 minutes photography vlogs. I learned a lot, having received my Z8 just a couple of weeks ago, this walk through was fab. I had to watch the menu section over as you are far quicker on the buttons than myself. So yeah great stuff, I like the whole concept from set up through post. it's fascinating to see and listen how other practitioners process and work.

    For a C1 workflow, do you process in C1 and then export a PSD which gets added to Lightroom to continue processing? Do you consider the Lightroom catalog as your master processed catalog and C1 as the master catalog for the NEF files? Thanks for this video and you have a new subscriber.

    • @summitbid
      @summitbid  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Short answer is yes my NEF files live in C1. I actually use a session workflow in C1. So I edit and process my files in C1 and photoshop and then export TIFF files that live in my Lightroom master catalog. It’s a kinda clunky system for now, but it’s working.

    My "vibration reduction mode" is off. It won't allow me to change it due to current settings. I'm following your recommendations.

      Are you using an older lens with no EXIF reporting? The camera needs to know a bit about your lens before it can do IBIS (specifically focal length). If that's the case, go to Menu->Setup->Non-CPU lens data, and put in the relevant information.

    Hi, I’m shooting with Fujifilm gfx100s but it’s not good for all types of photography, heavy and bulky with gf lenses to carry around, and slow for sports and wildlife if sometimes I like to experience it! But it seems Z8 is all in one camera. The only matter important to me is if I switch to Z8, with 14bit and 45mp could I have high images quality same as 16bit and 102mp on gfx100s? Please advise.

    What little tripod are you using in the section on the menu? Is it sturdy enough voor the Z8 with 24-120?

    • @summitbid
      @summitbid  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it’s called the mini by leofoto. It’s actually plenty strong for the z8. It even can support a 70-200 size lens!

    Great video , great tutorial but I have one question, might be wrong here....Isnt the section regarding WhiteBalance and Picture control irrelevant for you (and me) because you shoot RAW? As far as I know RAW ignores White Balance setting and isnt picture control just for Jpegs?

    Some how I don't understand after you do all these settings at what point do you save these to landscape A. I change all these settings and I don't see them in A. What did I do wrong and at point do you save A Lanscape. I saved the rename and that's all that took.

    • @summitbid
      @summitbid  ปีที่แล้ว

      So the way that Banks work you don't save the settings to the bank instead you set the camera to the bank you want to be in and then all settings are automatically saved as you work and shoot. So in your case, try changing the camera to all the different banks and seeing if one of them has the settings you changed. Also remember that (for some dumb reason) there are two banks, one in the shooting menu and one in the custom settings menu so you will want to try both.

    • @otr1otr2

      Thank you for responding. I think I understand what you mean now, I WAS TRYING WAY TO HARD.

    I’m wondering why you didn’t set the base iso to 64 in the menu bank but left it at 100. Some people think that 100 is betta for landscape work. Was that the reason?

    • @summitbid
      @summitbid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! Because exposure settings like shutter speed, iso exe. are not retained by the menu bank (meaning if you change your iso it will not revert back to a previous setting even if you change between banks or turn off the camera) I decided not to really “set” those settings to avoid being confusing. However to answer your question I have not noticed a significant difference between iso 64 and 100 at all. I probably shoot at 64 more often because it’s the base, but upping to 100 will be one of the first things I do if I’m having an issue exposing otherwise.

    • @magicalwishlist6616
      @magicalwishlist6616 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the SNR of 500 ISO is nearly identical to 64 on this sensor.

    • @summitbid
      @summitbid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not found this to be true. 64 and 100 are definitely better than 500. I think once you get to 150-200, 500 looks similar.@@magicalwishlist6616

    I’ve enjoyed this video and learned some valuable information on my z8 and landscape work. But, don’t understand why you would hike all that way carrying, what, $15k worth of equipment … and not bracket! The z8 can do it so fast you won’t even notice it’s happening.
