Leaving these tips for newer players who might see this video. Do with it as you will: Every unit matters, they level up and get much stronger but not only that, you can also sell vehicles (don't dissamseble) and sell or disbands soldiers to get either the curency, supplies or manpower. Manpower also drains supplies, 100 per reserve soldier per day so its much better to sell units Even more, every unit uses supplies when traveling so some very high cost units will eat up a lot of supply while simple drivers and technicians are basically free Tank crews. You can eventually recruit them but you can also level up technicians to drive tanks or helicopters. Drivers will not be able to drive tanks or helicopters but they get the speed and rate of fire upgrades. Tank crews also get speed and rate of fire. Many units can act as drivers so use them to loot as many cars as possible. The soldier squads able to drive things are your vehicles. Some like The Abrams tank, later, will become a baneblade Bradley IFV, it's got the best of all options, good against everything and you can even mount it's special ATGM so it will end with with an autocannon and atgm very fast. Humvee with a chaingun and/or TOW Light platform with artillery upgrade. For soldiers: atmg squads because of their range, rangers because they’re shred infantry, snipers for their versatility. Infantry squads being good at everything. The technicians can also drive tanks or pilot helicopters but also lay down mines with their skill upgrades. They only cost 300 supplies per day so it's a strategy to sell drivers and only get technicians. Keep in mind, you don't get other Founder units until the endgame so don't disband or sell them. Towing capacity: Most of the light armored vehicles can tow. There are 3 classes of tow vehicles and stuff that can be towed. Specialised military vehicles can't tow Light platforms like the light platform can be towed by vehicles like the van or humvee Trailers like the fuel/ammo/armored trailer can only be towed by the main tractor also known as the american truck from tv shows So it's very important to have units capable of driving and vehicles capable of towing to get a lot of loot wich you can sell for goodwill points then buy supplies. Supplies are used to repair vehicles, give them spare parts, fuel or ammunition. They are crucial like real logistics to keep your force active. So before leaving a mission try leaving with maxed out fuel and ammunition from depots or trailers. depots or trailers. If you are going to sell captured vehicles or soldiers you don't need to resupply them. You do sell them for more if you do it but most time its the same amout of supplies. However, bases have limited supplies to sell. Buying upgrades and switching upgrades. Since upgraded guns are limited, try to swap out the gear betwen your army like geting the recoiless gun from the vans before selling them. Same for soldiers with the mention that a single upgrade like a rifle is better give to bigger squads since it can equip either 2 soldiers or 5 soldiers so obviously the 5 soldiers is better. It's highlighted what vehicle or soldier can use a piece gear so select them and if the slot is greyed out. A greyed out slot means the unit has the basic weapon. The little lines show you the tier and damage capacity, smgs are 1 white bar, while the chaingun is mid tier and 3 lines meaning it is mid-tier best, for anti-infantry purpose For example, plasma recoilless vs normal recoilless and the various guide atgm. Ultimatly check the ammo types to see against what is the gun good against. Usually plasma is better vs legion and normal guns are better vs humans. There is also specialised equipment like the bradley, TOW or the 105mm artilery for the light platform. Soldiers gain experience, level up and gain increased health, accuracy and fire rate. Chosing the skills for the slots is only possible in human bases where you see the icon. The management portion of the game can be improved by geting the survivalist trait for all units but you lose a lot of combat strenght. Drivers: survivalist atgm: AA so you dont forget, survivalist. A vehicle atgm cant attack air heavy The snipers: surv, camo, marathon Vehicle capacity. Most vehicles have troop capacity so you can use them as transports or to replenish ammo. Keep in mind that a squad can't use a transport that doesn't have enough room for all its members. Example: ATGM squad in humvee with minigun is amazing or a Main tractor can have the ranger squad Smoke is your also friend. If there is a fight you can't win or your units are taking too much damage use the smoke. Its usable on vehicles like the striker, Bradley or ranger squad by default. You can also use it to avoid a flanking enemy and reposition. Complete ALL aditional objectives, there is no secondary objective since most quests in the game give a big payout and missing too many of them might result in you struggling with supplies. Also, don't leave the map until you capture all abandoned vehicles since you can sell them for good goodwill points See the difference here, i started with 3 squads and a humvee. Oh and an Extra tip: To capture enemy vehicles you can just shoot at them until you kill the entire crew but sometimes if the vehicle is on fire the crew must exit the vehicle. It can't enter back until the fire dies out and takes a few minutes. You can kill them with your snipers and then capture the vehicle. You can also disable certain gun or ammo types to increase your chances but this gets tedious over time so it's just better to replay some missions for all objectives completion.
Some time has past but I have question, maybe you'll be able to answer it? I can't actually sell vehicles in places I trade. If it comes to selling things I'm able to see an option to only draw my unused weaponry. How to do it or where?
It's made on a heavily 2008 engine by some oldschool Russian devs, that's why. Why the performance is really bad as well, only one CPU core is being used due to the old engine.
I'm so glad you're doing a playthrough of this. I'm currently on the fence about it. It seems like something 16 year old me would love, but my gameplay preference has changed over the years.
@tjep2670 I can relate to that feeling. This still looks really fun, but nowadays my attention would wander much sooner than the hours and hours I put into games like this in high school and college. Increasingly, I've drifted up in abstracted levels of operational complexity. Wargame/WARNO is about the smallest scale I'd go for. I like games that incorporate unit morale and at least abstracted logistics planning, up through mid level strategy (less than grand strategy? XD). It's hard to find a game that successfully humanizes medium to large scale combat and logistics.
Well when I see a good RTS old style like = bye bye life 😂 It's just sad that it only happen from years to years apart as I don't like the majority of modern RTS.
Super glad to see you starting this series! I'm really excited to see the publisher Slitherine expanding from their core strength (highly detailed wargames, initially turn-based) into real-time games. The voice acting in this seems really solid. Uniform audio levels, consistent voice direction, pretty good expressive range within the "stoic soldier" segment. And the design choices for realistic mode are cool. This is the direction I wished Company of Heroes would have gone, 15 years ago. But they really went the competitive arcade direction. Terminator: Dark Fate dips a few toes in the direction of Eugen games (Wargame: Red Dragon, WARNO, Steel Division). Those games have fully tracked ammunition, etc. I feel like most players find Eugen games a bit intimidating to get into (plus the Wargame lobbies were always hideously toxic), but Terminator makes many of the same game concepts much more accessible. Like you said, Starcraft clones are all well and good, but it's great to see something different! WARNO is currently in early access development, btw. It's really starting to shape up, I feel. Not sure if 1980s Cold War gone hot is your thing.
It is really hard but Realistic mode is very interesting to me something that always takes me right out of RTS games is the hp thing this game it feels like any shot can end anything I love it! I have played the Eugen games will probably get warno at some point

This game feels like XCOM 2; there's a strong emphasis on individual units, and leveling them up. That, and the rag-tag guerilla war feel makes it light a strategic version of XCOM 2, but instead of aliens its robots.
Have only just heard of this game from Splattercatgaming, and it is quite tempting to buy this, looks really fun. Unless I'm mistaken, RTS games have a habit of being about blobbing units up with overwhelming firepower, this one seems more demanding on tactics. That would be cool I have no idea myself! I will say when I played the demo that bomb drone actually is supposed to directly blow his squad up but he happened to kill it in this timeline XD
