- CHAPTER 9: WHO IS REX HEUERMANN?
"Rex Heuermann is everything we've been led to believe would be the guy," said Einiger. "He's kind of a loner. He's kind of antisocial. His house is different from every other house on that block. It's sort of a mess. He works in the city. He has a job, where he's very technical, where he's an architect and engineer."
Heuermann lived at 105 First Ave. in Massapequa Park and is an architect and a married father of two adult children.
Heuermann used one of his burner phones "to conduct thousands of searches related to sex workers, sadistic, torture-related pornography and child pornography," court records said.
DNA from a pizza crust thrown out by Heuermann was linked to a male hair found on one of the victims. The analysis found that "mitochondrial DNA profile(s) are the same" between both samples.
On January 16, 2024, Rex Heuermann was additionally charged with the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.
Heuermann has pleaded not guilty.
The six other Gilgo Beach cases remain unsolved.

They weren't worried about sex workers or homeless people disappearing or getting murdered. He changed his MO, killing grounds, or dumping grounds, killers like that don't just stop killing.
They don't worry about anyone over 18, til a body appears. Didn't used to. Seems they are at least looking at bank transactions now... Acct activity when a person goes missing.
Stupid... I always thought it was stupid that no one looked for 72 hours or more for missing persons...if at all
They need to find the people that attended his parties. Swapping and kink can attract killers.

I definitely agree. Gentlemen are those who we look for to uphold standards and men who are addressed by this after they commit these heinous acts are giving the real “gentlemen” a bad name.

I would like to know why he wasnt found as well. Even moreso, how a woman can call 911, tell the dispatcher someone is after her and then say she died of natural causes. Pffff. I'd like to see the cell records of the crossing dressing chief of police that also was a john. You have location data, ISPs. For a phone to even work you need a service provider. The Gilgo Beach area command should be investigated. Sad. So sad.
How does someone make it to the top even if their secretive? I know how things work. A lot of people knew something was weird people that were trying to file something or investigate something or probably told not to and new suspicious. But yet this guy continued to do illegal things that his co-workers aka police officers who supposed to protect us did nothing about.
@@conditdr I agree. Somehow they need to figure that one out. How the hell do 11 (probably more) get tossed -and no one was awake at the wheel except an officer and his dog, thank God. And then to say Gilbert died oh natural causes and not release the 911 call is ridiculous to the 999999 power.

This case is simply fascinating.
I think he may have killed his victims in his storage units. That leads me to believe that is why the Medical Examiners Units were at the storage units.
He murdered all four of the Gilgo Beach victims while his family was out of town, so there's a good chance that the murders were committed in his house.
especially with hairs of the wife and daughter being found on the victims
I'm sure their were other victims he probably killed in both places.

The psychopathy needs to have early intervention. How much of his behaviour was overlooked before murders started?
And his brother killed a man in 1988. And his father's cousin is accused of violent sx crimes against a minor.
They did a really great job with this. I had no idea the mother was killed by her other daughter-so damn sad.

I first watched a doc on the murders like 5 years ago & I've thought about this case & the victims so many times since, just hoping I'd see a breaking story, saying they caught the guy. I'll never forget that sister talking about the phone calls she received from this scumbag. I hope he rots & I hope his wife has a miserable rest of her life for being such a dirtbag & standing by her trash-heap of a husband.
May all the victims get justice.
That house at 105 First Ave., Massapequa Park, is more than a bit of a mess. It has one of those garages that's sort of thrust forward, which is ugly in the first place, but it has junk in front of it and/or is boarded-up. That's really the only off-putting thing, though, in the Zillow photo, which features some lawn furniture with table umbrella in front. They should tear it down for a memorial; isn't that probably the place where they were all killed? They say there's no evidence.

I always marvel at how brazen some of these killers act. It's those actions that always seem to get them caught. You leave something, you take something, and eventually you get caught

I think this whole case is as fascinating as it is creepy and disgusting, but it is hard to believe he contacted her little sister! I know at her age it is something that could carry extra attention for her even if it bad all
So sad knowing the police department dropped the ball. I hope they get investigated as well.

It's just a play on words, because the reporters are recounting their experiences with the case and ABC brands their local news programs as Eyewitness News

Las Vegas has victims I’m sure he has bodies in the lake or desert. He was always on the strip what were his favorite spots in Vegas? Cosmos, Bellagio, Wynn, Encore?
No they don’t want credit they are not narcissistic either, all criminals return to the scene of the crime, the internet provided him with that, instead of actually being there and possibly detected.
You notice how Las Vegas is not saying who this monster worked for or where he stayed at during his Vegas trips? If he had a time share why was he always hanging out at Wynn or Bellagio I bet he has victims in Las Vegas. Not sure why none of the casino hotels provide any information he frequently visited Las Vegas.
