Awesome vid thank you! I'd wrongly assumed it was a design flaw as the main stem was loose out-of-the-box. After a particularly wobbly ride I thought enough is enough and to avoid a road face smearing, a cursory search (sans expletives) brought me here. Bravo for the succinct process! Although I did over turn the main rod a little and had to back track. A quarter turn was ample.
This is an essential video for Ninebot G30 Max owners. Have had the Max for a couple months, and just recently started to get an annoying creak / squeak from the stem. Tightening it up just a bit as shown in your video did seem to help. Still a bit of creaking as you move the stem back and forth. Next I'll try a dampener or using some thin pieces of vinyl against parts that could be rubbing. Thanks for the tips.
malfunkt I’m glad you found this helpful. I was tempted to buy some sticky rubber patches and cut them to the inside shapes so when I fold down it doesn’t fall out :)
@@ScootLetsGo agreed, this tutorial is a lifesaver! I get the feeling that if the scooter is left like this for too long, the chance of it breaking would be much greater.
Thanks for this information. My wobble was down further near caps over the spring shocks. So I solved it by winding wire (half as thick as coat hangers). Took about 15 windings around and up and in the gap. Worked good. 😀
2 months in and 500kms and my stem started creaking and slight wobble. This video is the fix. It does make the clasp much stiffer but I rarely collapse my scooter so no dramas. I also found that the centre Allan nut going vertically down the shaft needed some tightening too. Thanks mate 👍
Hello, thanks for this video my ninebot g30 max is only 5 months old but has close to 1000 miles on it and this recently started happening i throught a bolt snapped somewhere but nope this fixed my issue so once again thank you.
I find I must give it a 1/8th twist counter-clockwise every 300 miles or so to maintain tightness. However just like you use an M365-spacer I use strips of gel-tape in the gap which do a wonderful job of anti-vibration but also allow a tight-latch without hard metal-to-metal contact. I also think its just enough absorption to prevent the bolt from cracking by a large bump.
Thanks for another helpful video, just like your other ones. I've only done 35 miles on my Ninebot so early days although something at the front has started creaking. No idea what yet but perhaps the drum brake line. Can't think of what else would creak like that. Have you noticed anything like that?
jerome black thank you for your kind words :). I haven’t heard the break line creak. But if you are adding lots of pressure to it then you will hear a grinding noice from the drum. This is normal. Maybe you could post a video?
@@ScootLetsGo not sure the creak will be audible on a recording 🤔 and it doesn't happen under braking, just while riding. I hardly use the brakes actually. Medium regen setting. I didn't notice the noise on Sunday. I'll check again tomorrow.
Have you had your rear fender break yet? My rear fender has snapped i'm guessing due to vibration when going over potholes and speed bumps. Ad well as hitting sharp inclines at high speeds. I've ordered a new one but want to make sure it doesn't happen again. It's only gone through 1000 miles so it's quite worrying.

thanks for your helpful video!! it was very easy for me to see it and tighten my max stem!!! but as some other gyus mentioned here, the last one month it heard a creak from the stem but for sure it isn t from the folding part cause there i put wd40..this creak is being heard only if i am on the scooter in very beggining start and for low speed...i have the ninebot max for 3 months and for the 2 months it was heard nothing it was perfect..i have the belief but i am not sure that the creak is coming from the front fender probably from the bolt that perhaps is loosen from the vibration...any suggestions???

At 0:53 the washer under the stick that holds the main piece above the wheel “ fork”. What is that called and where do I find it? I’m replacing my stem and it’s missing .. thanks
Hi! I've tighten that clamp thing but it didn't help the wobble. The clamp just became too tight to close after a bit of tuning. Even now that the clamp shuts fine it still wobbles a lot. It seems that the plastic ring that sits just above the folding mechanism is broken. The small screw that sits there can't be tightened or removed and the stem wobbles a lot. Any ideas?
When I try to unlock and lock the latch, it's requires more force. Is there a way how to make this easy by a snap? I've seen videos where it looked easy to snap it on and off.
Did you try tightening the top screws? And it shouldn’t be crazy hard to snap on but remember how much force it has to handle when riding. Before I did this my stem would just unlock itself if I rode it too hard😅
We noticed a deficit of replacement parts for that linkage, and a lot of people were struggling with their scooter being broken, so we made a linkage kit out of 316 Stainless Steel that we're selling on our Etsy page. We made 70 kits on our first run, and we almost sold out very quickly. We weren't expecting that. We're working on making more, and we're also working on making some other machined components that will make this scooter stronger. Take care! Tommyrox Mullenix got these ones off amazon. But if you have a 3 printer you can make your own. I would say get the rubber ones and glue them to the folding part to stop you loosing them when having to fold.
I actually had a friend of mine print me two different sizes and seems to really firm up that section. Have not test driven it yet but it really firmed it up. GREAT video!
After 2500km I needed this done thank you. Apart from replacing a worn-out front tire this is the only maintenance my Max has needed so far
anything else? recommend it now?

As all the other nuts and bolts are metric it is unlikely that the allen bolt is 3/32” Imperial.
Alan Jackson as I say in the video. I don’t know tools. I just find one that fits :).

No spacer needed, just turn the inch long hex nut 1-2 revolutions is all.
