Amazing that such an expensive scooter has such a horrible folding mechanism. The sooner that this design is left in the past, the better.

Thank you for the video! I just got home and during my ride the folding mechanism gave in mid ride and I almost fell! I just figured I maybe forgot to lock the side lever (had it folded yesterday) but after watching this now I realize the bolts in the folding mechanism are probably loose. Gonna fasten them and see if it cures the wobblyness, if not gonna change the whole thing. Very informative video and even I, somebody with no prior mechanical skills feel like I can do this myself! :)

I just realized that Im missing a second stem bolt (a bolt that goes to then second part where you up the grease) and a stem the long part that you need to that part. No wonder my lock ring snapped off. I need to get those 2 part ASAP!!!
Just snapped my locking mechanism top bolt in 2 from overnighting, thought I was going to have to buy a whole new stem lol ! Hopefully this works

Anyone know where to get a replacement center locking screw with that spacer? Can’t find it anywhere
This mechanism finally arrived..It's pretty expensive. 303 stainless steel. Hopefully it actually does its job.. All it takes is pulling back on the handlebars a few times and the barrel nut starts to bend and eventually break. The stock OEM barrel nut is utter trash as are the knockoffs on aliexpress, ebay, etc expect the same if not worse.
Yeah it’s expensive. But it seems to work perfectly for me :).
Shame that China doesn’t want to put out quality parts, I wouldn’t actually mind paying more for it if they were
I didn't see these kind of stem latch bolts on kick motion. Plus I have cash and not pounds. I bought a spare part on Amazon and it was the same as the stock one. I want that more solid looking one. Everything else ony ninebot has been great. But I'm scared to go fast when it's creaking and feeling really loose.

I’ve actually broken the entire stem and I’m having trouble taking off the metal hook, I was wondering if you knew how to replace the entire part?
Did you fix it? if so how did you? I have the same issue.

i own a hiboy s2r. is the locking mechanism of my scooter (hiboy s2r) compatible with your locking mechanism.

Do you have a name or maybe a parts number for this? The bigger cylinder keeps breaking on mine, and i figured i might as well buy some spares while im at it.
It seems odd that it is designed in a way where this small bolt absorbs so much vibrations.
I believe it’s just called a barrel. I would buy the whole this though that I have. This seems to be much stronger

Why did you need to replace the folding mechanism?
Johnny Chan many people have had issues with theirs. And Kickmotion was kind enough to send one out for me to demonstrate how to change for you all

Hmm. I just checked. They may have stopped selling that part as it came from a local supplier. I will speak to them to see what is going on. I think you can check the site to see if they have the parts that you need :)

When u screwed it back you forgot to put the second screw behind it to lock it in, I would imagine that’s why it’s there
I did screw the second nut up to the first nut
My scooters speed dropped from 30km/h to 27km/h I don’t know whats wrong
