- To celebrate the Christmas season we've recorded a few of our favourite Christmas carols, for you to sing along with us from your homes. For Christmas Day (in what is certainly an unusual year for Christmas celebrations in the UK) we've decided to release this medieval carol, 'Gaudete' in an arrangement by our former bass Brian Kay. We've also included the score, for those of you who fancy joining our ranks for a couple of minutes!

As a former barbershop singer, I can safely say, without fear of contradiction, that anyone can sing tenor, lead, or bass, depending on their range and timbre, but it takes a musician to sing baritone.

Being 77 I was a great fan of the original singers and bought their records! I have lapsed over the years but coming across this fantastic song, I’m a fan once more. I shall be listening to this time and time again. Thank you for putting this on TH-cam.

Such a beautiful rendition, the mix of the baritones and counter tenors does something magical to the harmonics that just makes everything so much more powerful. I have replayed this more than 50 times just today, I even keep telling myself this is the last one but then can't help replaying it again.

Oh my gosh, this is literally one of my favorite piece that I've heard in the King Singer's rep. with the previous line up, so I can't wait to hear it!! It'll be like opening a Christmas gift.

A gift for any time of the year!
A worthy contribution to the collection of Christmas carols/chants/anthems we have all come to welcome, especially in times of a pandemic when the spirit of hope is dashed in the lives of so many. As a retired priest and Latin teacher, their enunciation of the Latin was clear and matches that of all of us who were trained in both Latin and Gregorian Chant - the same being used to this day in Gregorian chant. The counter tenor work was much appreciated as well.
I sang this a few years ago. It's one of my favourites to do in a good choir. This choir is magnificent.

I've enjoyed an older version of this piece performed by The King's Singers from A Little Christmas Music for many years, but Countertenor 1 makes this one absolutely sublime! My new favourite. Bravo!

A favourite since the mid 70s! This is a superb version. But now I want to listen to Steeleye Span version that switched me on to it way back then.
Saw them live, three times and they sang this little ditty! Maddy Prior is a wonder!
Did you know they play the steeleye span version to the guests at Guantanamo Bay? Apparently it breaks down barriers and encourages conversations :)

Fantastic! I've known an older King's Singers' recording of this gem for a long time, and it inspired me to perform it with a few fellow singers at our Church ten or so years ago. It's fun to listen to, but also a lot of fun to perform, and it isn't too hard.
