- Gaudete is a sacred Christmas carol, thought to have been composed in the 16th century. It was published in Piae Cantiones, a collection of Finnish/Swedish sacred songs from 1581.
Bremerton WestSound Symphony and Chorale
This performance was inspired by Dr. Mark Herring of Eugene, Oregon.
Latin English
Gaudete, gaudete! Rejoice, rejoice!
Christus est natus Christ is born
Ex Maria virgine, Of the Virgin Mary -
gaudete! Rejoice!
Tempus adest gratiæ
Hoc quod optabamus,
Carmina lætitiæ
Devote reddamus.
The time of grace has come-
What we have wished for;
Songs of joy
Let us give back faithfully.
Deus homo factus est
Natura mirante,
Mundus renovatus est
A Christo regnante.
God has become man,
With nature marveling,
The world has been renewed
By the reigning Christ.
Ezechielis porta
Clausa pertransitur,
Unde lux est orta
Salus invenitur.
The closed gate of Ezekiel
Is passed through,
Whence the light is risen;
Salvation has been found.
Ergo nostra contio
Psallat iam in lustro;
Benedicat Domino:
Salus Regi nostro.
Therefore, let our assembly
Now sing in brightness
Let it bless the Lord:
Salvation to our Kin
I like that Gandalf joined in the chorus 😊💕
Just discovered I am accepted to begin the postulancy at a religious. Please pray unceasingly for me. Amen
My wife plays just about every woodwind known to mankind. Thanks to this beautiful video, I am now in the market for a dulzian. Thank you and blessed Guadete Sunday!
The costumes and instruments are all marvellous. And the singing! Thank you so much for this. God bless you all.
Nothing can sound - or look - more lovely than this; so that's saved time in looking for anything else on the interweb to listen to instead. What a gorgeous presentation, 400 years in the gestation. More by the same musicians, period costume & instruments, and pieces from the 16th century can only be great.
Sublime! Appropriate for this Advent/Christmas season. Soothing for my soul.
100% agree

Thanks
The perfect chorus, instruments and the best perfomance!! Thanks
Just amazing, reminded me of old and so good memories !
Phedre Schifano the second soloist, she has the most wonderful voice.
I am 100% IN LOVE with this song! What a unique arrange ment Fabulous job!❤❤❤
i had goosebumps on every solo, i am humbled by such amazing talent. thanks for posting
It succeeded in making me crying. My lil man died in December and I am so shocked since then that it is difficult for me to let go 😔
Gaudete!! Rejoice!! Thank you for this Great Presentation & Performance; Advent Season, 3rd Sunday, our Gaudete Celebration in the Confessional Lutheran Faith. ...F. Steve Malloy; Piano Technician/Tuner...Bremerton Symphony Orchestra.
Gaudete! Guadete!
Chistus est natus
ex Maria virgine!
Gaudete!
(Rejoice! Rejoice!
Christ is born
of Mary the virgin!
Rejoice!)
Thank you for this!
Hopefully we will all spare a thought this Christmas for those in fuel poverty - pensioners, young children, disabled people in freezing homes. Starmer puts Ebenezer Scrooge to shame, and at least Scrooge reformed and became generous. This is a beautiful carol. Merry Christmas to one and all.
En général, les Américains détruisent notre culture européenne. Ici, ils le chérissent. La musique sacrée médiévale est charmante. Les yeux clairs sont charmants. Les seins sont ravissants. Tous sont ici. Bravo Bremerton🎶!
Actually a greatversion
Very atmospheric and as far as we can judge traditional and authentic... We'll done
Origins may be obscure, but this is super and never yields to age
Someone wrote here it's from 1581.
@@Kitiwake It was indeed published in Piae Cantiones around that time (other sources say 1582), but the melody, and those of the rest of the collection, are doubtless much older.
SUPERB. MAGNIFICENT. Period garb and instruments to boot. Brought this Pagan to tears.
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us! ❤️🎶
Spotted by Maddy Prior, of Steeleye Span. I've had the pleasure of backing her in this, working in with The Carnival Band.
Just fabulous!
Christus Vincit!
Christus Regnat!
Christus Imperat!
How nice, there is also a very ancient musical instrument, a Renaissance curtal (dulciana) that can be seen at the beginning, that is, the ancestor of the bassoon. Gorgeous video!
What lovely eyes she has. Yes, I was looking.
Beautiful in every way! Inspired my day!
Socks well and truly blown off
This is just GORGEOUS!
Very good
It's always wonderful to hear from you...
Greetings from Brazil.
Meravigliosa versione, molto commovente
Fantastic work by everyone!

Excellent. Thank you !
Fantastico!
I love it!!! Really beautiful! I love the humor too....
Great job, everyone!
Really nicely performed and produced: captivating!
Fun!! Love the Racket and oboe pairing!!! (Or is that just an early bassoon?)
Dulcians, predecessor to the modern bassoon
That was textbook. 10 on 10. I once played this in my car to a co-eater on a date. It blew her socks off.
Love it so much ❤️
Happy Christmas.
LOVELY! I love that song!

Спасибо! Я верю в Человечество!
So Beautiful!
Excellent rendering. I had the privilege of singing this with our choir at First Presbyterian in downtown Tulsa.
An arrangement and performance made in Heaven
This is gorgeous! Is this Bremmerton WA? Our daughter lived there for a couple of years. Never heard about these folks.
The co-ordination on the AVs is great. Plus costumes and instrument range. Great.
Beautiful! My favorite Christmas song!
Ein schönes warmes Weihnachtslied,
My favourite Christmas Carol and you smashed it ...Beautiful performance
This always been a favorite piece to perform.
💖
Excellent presentation
Love this
A Good father of Launde Abbey translated this song for me back in the 80's...signed with the adage 'made this poor effort'...when I enquired why, he said that he wasn't too good in medieval Latin usage and took a calculated guess on a couple of words...❤
Your You tube video just popped up! And I really enjoyed seeing and listening to you all, singing and playing,I thought it was very good, I hadn't heard this song for some time, many thanks😊❤
Bravo, great music, great voices. ThankYou.
Wow! Gaudete!
An absolute delight! Bravo.
A wonderful pure simple version!
Really nice version ..... although the combination of medieval clothes and electric light fittings is slightly amusing .
I'm going to listen to it again !
Steeleye Span aside, I think the Latin pronunciation is, 'Wirg(soft g)inae'. I loved it. Do some more.
Well done!
Wow, the best zoom meeting ever!
I heard this songs part of the soundtrack for the next version of Mortal Kombat. It's a Finnish Hymn!
Es sanidad. Cristo sana. Y es sana doctrina de cristo.
WOW
I am used to the Steeley Span version, this is a nice change.
This was done during Covid, n'est pas? It's a wonderful performance@
Thanks I really appreciate that loved Steeleye spans version as well
I’m inspired by Mark Herring too.
Wow!
The violin in the form seen in this video was not really used in the era of this song.
They usually only had 3 strings and were played somewhat like a cello - in the upright position.
Oh my gosh! How in the world did you manage to book Gandolf for this!
Just awesome!!!❤
Beautiful
Marvellous!
goosebumps! thanks!
👏👏👏👏👏
BRAVISSIMI🎉
I always suspected that Alan could be in two places at once.
amazing
My favorite part is when the instruments come in.
Gandalf is everywhere😊
Cristo amor
Love this. And who's the babe at 1:51??
Mi alma cristo resurrecciones almas vivificantes
