Sonic 2 has always legit been my favorite Sonic game. Also my favorite stage is Casino Night, its music is a freakin' bop.
Billeh Bawb here's a challenge: Go through the entirety of sonic mania while running/walking normally (avoid running at mach speed)
The only exceptions are high speed sections such as the studiopolis boss and speed boosters
Avoid spin dashing or drop dashing, only roll
p.s: what i mean by "mach speed" is when your legs go spinning like circles.

I think sonic 2 is very good at its core,as it’s mostly well-designed, but some stupid quirks that the physics have (and metropolis zone) cause me to get irritated when i try to keep my momentum and get myself stopped in place by an object or am uncurled thanks to a bridge which causes me to die, or my momentum is reset when i run off a slope!
If the game was remade and officially rereleased with sonic 3’s physics, i guarantee i could enjoy it a lot more.
Also, tails can’t fly and he can’t use the chaos emeralds for anything, that’s stupid.

i am terrible in oil ocean, every other zones EVEN METROPOLIS were fine, the only thing that makes metropolis annoying is the slow bridge of act 3 that leads to the boss

My sonic 2 review
The story of the game is really simple. Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik has discovered the West Island. But he wasn't here just for the beautiful environment. He was here for the 7 Chaos Emeralds. He found six of them on South Island. But since Sonic the Hedgehog defeated him last time, the six scattered off to this island. Another emerald was also discovered in between Sonic 1 and Sonic 2. And with the emeralds, he will build the ultimate battle station, the Death Egg. Sonic heard of Robotnik's plan, and with his new friend Miles "Tails" Prower, go off to West Island to stop the good doctor's plans. An amazing plot, simple and quick.
Dem aesthetics (Sound and Looks)
This game looks amazing for a mid release Genesis title! So many colors. SO many colors. And the music is even better.
Gameplay
About the same as sonic 1, adding in Spindash and removing speed cap.
Special Stage
Not a good way to get in, really hard once you do get in.
Overall Rating: 7/10.
Mine is probably Casino Night Zone, cause it's so unique and creative, the Music is amazing. Plus I can joke how Tails isn't supposed to be there.

Sonic 2 is a great game, and better then it's pregaul, sonic 1. i's good except for metropolis, AND WHY AVE IT HAVE 3 ACTS, it's the worse ONE!

@@cobaltis I was playing Sonic 2 the other night, Metropolis Zone, there are those tunnels going up and down with bumpers on the walls, I decide to turn around and ramp off an incline to see where it goes if I can get back on a higher path. I got stuck. Bouncing between the two bumpers at the top, unable to fall back down or reach a way out. I was soft locked, I could either wait 8 minutes for the timer to kill me, reset, or just go play a better game like Sonic 3.

I know a way to lose tails, you use the tails flying trick except dont let tails grab u while he flys, and keep jumping until he dissappears, that gives enough time for you to get away since his flight is more slower than his legs
My favourite zone in Sonic 2 is Aquatic Ruin because of how you never have to touch the water, they made a water level GOOD which is rare

I am fully aware that nobody else thinks this, but I actually really like Hill Top Zone. It gives me Marble Garden Zone vibes, without, y'know, being Marble Garden. Also, the music sounds like what being drunk feels like.

5:18 Sonic 2 is a great game, I only don’t like metropolis and the mobile update is my favorite version to play since the genesis special stages are horrible when you’ve played the mobile one for so long. Sonic 2 is... interesting. As far as movement goes, it's leagues better than Sonic 1. The spindash aids the momentum based gameplay way more than you'd think an instant boost of speed would. Where Sonic 2 falls a bit short for me is, like it's predecessor, level design. Just like Sonic 1, Emerald Hill is one of the most kinetic, fun levels in Sonic history. It's so much fun. However, just like Sonic 1, eventually this "momentum" slows down, and the levels become slow slogs, with infuriating design elements. It isn't as jarring as the jump from Green Hill to Marble Zone, but Zones like Metropolis, with its cheap enemy placement (wtf does it have 3 acts), Mystic Cave with its inescapable pit, and Wing Foretress with its insanely tight platforming over bottomless pits kinda ruin the game for me. Also Death Egg Zone. Despise it. It wouldn't be so bad if the game had a save system, like Sonic 3, seeing as learning the Boss patterns is pretty much trial and error. But 18 hits on Robo Sonic and The Death Egg combined, with no rings, screams of some classic '90s bullshit difficulty. Also, the special stages are a mess. The controls are way too slippery, and having tails makes it so easy to lose rings. The halfpipe pretty much only works in the games on the DS. Overall, a good foundation, soured by a decline in level design later on. 7/10, would play again, but if you're looking for a great classic Sonic game, play 3&K or Mania instead.
Chemical plant isn't my favourite because I'm stuck on act 2 but I love the music
Oil Ocean isn't really bad because it's difficult. It's just not fun to play and I can't tell why.
