After that, play as Knuckles and find only two treasures. Let your opponent win, and then play as Chaos. Now, get three treasures, wait 10 minutes, then win. Next, play as Tails and then you need to have only 2 rings, after that, lose. Now, you need to play as every single character and win 500 times for each of them. There will be a new battle and you will fight Mario. After you defeat Mario, Luigi will come up, and he is super fast and tough. After you beat Luigi, both Mario AND Luigi will be playable

My quick guide to easily beat Amy: 1. Use Metal Sonic, 2. Collect as many rings as possible to keep Amy from using specials, 3. Use the shield move Metal Sonic has, 4. Use the spam button to speed up freeze timer technique, 5. Slug Amy if she gets on screen, 6. Don't trigger checkpoints to keep cheesing at bay thus being risky, 7. Acknowledge that this list is not a 100% win always guide. Now the bonus trick only to be used if desperate, the previous tricks failed, or you just wanna win really, really bad is to beat your opponent to Amy on the character select screen.
Yeah, as somebody who *has* played a lot of multiplayer SA2B in my younger years (and coming from "the Amy player's perspective"), the game is generally about getting out into first place, suffocating your opponent of coins, and never hitting a checkpoint to let the other person catch up. I have no idea how it figures out in an 'optimal' skill matchup even though I typically won my own matches is because as powerful as Amy is, she's also extremely unforgiving. The slightest mistake can cost you the entire match, and you're a low slower than usual. So when my opponents managed to swipe Amy, they'd miss 'a' jump, or just be sluggish in general, and I'd surpass them. Amy is incredibly Feast-Famine that way, and being on the famine side sucks bad. On a TAS level, Metal is probably top tier, as he's (mostly) immune to Spear and can input 50 times a second to largely ignore Time Stop, but nobody plays that perfectly.
This brings back so many memories.... Playing this game with my friends and family.... The frustration & joy... Thank you so much for bringing them back!
not really, she is exceedingly slow compared to the others, and her only real advantage is that she gets skills (and by extension Chao Control) every few rings. Shadow's alternate outfit gets short chaos controls at the same rate, but he can't get Chaos Spear; therefor, Shadow (ALT) would likely end up stopping time for longer than Amy would when receiving the same amount of rings.

Espio: Espio is invisible to the other player, but is slower than sonic, his special letting him fly forward a small amount. Charmy: Slow, no specials, no abilties, big joke character. Avatar: Similar to tails but with no homing attack, and gets a random wispon to use. His special gives him a single supply of boost. Eggman: IS FAST AS HELL AND REPLACES THE GOAL SIGN WITH A ENTRANCE TO MCDONALDS. Infinite: His special requires 75 rings, being reversing the opponents controls and flipping their screen on its head for a while, but he is very fast. Zavok: He destroys enemies if he runs into them at a high speed, however he is kinda slow in acceleration, his special turning him giant. Metal Sonic: Fastest character, but with no specials or abilities. Chaos: Same as Sonic, but no homing attack, his special turning into gloop and flinging himself in a direction. to answer the question YES! Metal Sonic is very OP. In City Escape using his barrier while going down the inclined roads basically gives you the same speed as Quicksilver in the only good parts of the X-Men movies.
If only this were a real metagame. I loved seeing all the same tricks and strategy that Me and My cousin figured out back in the day being used here. We played it just as seriously as you guys if not more. This NEEDS to be a metagame.

Did you know that the secret costumes affect the specials? Amy is normally uncontestable, especially on city escape (Its her best map, because she can come off the board with an amy flash/storming heart uncontested because u cant hit her when ur on the board, but you're still able to get rings while boarding. So, she picks up 20, 30 rings and then blasts u when u get off the boards together. She has the lead, and gets all the rings she needs to win from that point forward), but Sonic with his secret costume gets Sonic wind every 20 rings instead of the 2nd of 3 20 ring pickups. The costume also makes this sonic wind disable the other players control stick for a few seconds. This is the only character that beats amy. Secret shadow's pretty balanced, always chaos control, but its only 5 sec.

Did you know that the secret costumes affect the specials?
Amy is normally uncontestable, especially on city escape (Its her best map, because she can come off the board with an amy flash/storming heart uncontested because u cant hit her when ur on the board, but you're still able to get rings while boarding. So, she picks up 20, 30 rings and then blasts u when u get off the boards together. She has the lead, and gets all the rings she needs to win from that point forward), but Sonic with his secret costume gets Sonic wind every 20 rings instead of the 2nd of 3 20 ring pickups. The costume also makes this sonic wind disable the other players control stick for a few seconds. This is the only character that beats amy. Secret shadow's pretty balanced, always chaos control, but its only 5 sec.
