Obviously they are applying it to Race in USA schools atm with CRT. The reason you see CRT advocates lie is because CT tells them it is morally right to lie for the greater good (convincing people CRT is different to what it actually is). I think there is something in that, but notice that the suburban lower middle classes (and the better paid working class who flank it) are a political bulwark against this crazed academic social engineering posing as universalist ethics, what has been described as the Daily Mail 'gammon'. The opening up of university education to these lower middle is what has carved the breach between the parents and the next generations. As soon as they get into Uni, their minds are ripe for the intense peer pressure that comes as standard with the leftist curriculum. I've seen it happen lots of times. Academia is at the root of all this, it provides the fireworks and their graduates go out into the world and light the fuses, whilst the tutors stay safe inside the faculty, directing the propaganda war from behind the lines. It is all a big con, and, as you pointed out, consolidates the aggrandisement of the higher bourgeois. What has essentially happened is that these elites realised that if the theory of political correctness was *really* put into practise it would mean their power dissolution, so they turned it around and aimed it at the old enemy as a missile with a warhead made from race guilt. They are after all, the intellectual classes, and very crafty at this sort of game. They do have a class consciousness of their own, which they telegraph to each other in their professionalised dinner-party worlds. They know that we know, but they prtend that nobody knows. It's why they are getting terrified of it all collapsing.

Julie went on about the working class being the target but it is really everyone not in the middle class. The upper class and aristocracy are just as targeted and, together with the working class, they make up traditional England. So the real target of Woke is traditional England and the values we used to be known to uphold.
The middle class have found a new set of rules / manners which they have realised gives them power when they are implemented in a puritanical fashion. Manners, their previous set of rules, never allowed them legislative power! Wokeness is being written into statute!
The wowke middle class have had a generation or 2 of cheap international travel so they perceive themselves as having an "internationalist view" (they love foreign food and music) but they are unable to distinguish this from a "globalist view" (export the jobs to the cheapest parts of the planet, destroy local manufacturing jobs, import cheapest people into the country to undercut working class people and, finally, fob off the middle class with a new phone or ipad every year or 2 to keep them sweet). So the woke are the perfect warriors of the corporate globalist billionaires...and the politicians merely follow the money dripping from the corporate donors...
Woke and voting remain had an almost 100% overlap in the venn diagram of modern life politics.

Excellent interview with Julie Burchill, who has always written from the heart and stands up for what she believes in. I grew up in a middle class home, but both parents came from aspirational working class backgrounds and, unlike their parents, managed to go to university and get a good education leading to well paid jobs in pharmacy, my mother in hospitals and later retail, my father in the pharmaceutical industry and later retail (they ran a pharmacy together after my father was made redundant in the mid 1980s). My late mother had had to sit down with her working class socialist father and persuade him to let her go to university, where she later met my father. The aspirational working class are often the people who most drive a society forward positively, many set up their own small businesses, many work more than one job whilst still finding time for evening classes etc. New Labour in particular have been only too happy to create a non-aspirational working class who are happy to live off benefits whilst consuming a diet of unhealthy processed food and dumbed down news and entertainment. The woke liberal metropolitan elites are only too happy to have an ill-educated, poor underclass who lack the ability for critical thinking thanks to the dumbing down of education from the late 1980s onwards, and of course now the collective insanity of gender identity and race identity politics which is being actively promoted in all types of schools, except some faith schools and free schools which have adopted a classical liberal education. We are lurching towards totalitarianism and tyranny, as predicted by Nietzsche and Dostoyevsky in the mid 19th century. They saw that Christianity was in decline even then, and that if God died so to speak, then nothing but totalitarian tyranny would fill the resulting void: exactly what happened under Communism, Marxism, Nazism, and Fascism in the 20th century, resulting in the deaths of well over 120 million people. In terms of pure numbers starved to death or killed, Mao was the worst dictator, followed by Stalin, then Hitler and not forgetting the horrors of the Khmer Rouge too in Cambodia. I am genuinely scared at what today's woke teenagers to 45 year olds might be capable of as they rise into more powerful and influential positions within society. Some will rebel against the woke nonsense, but others will want to lash out and take revenge on all those adults who have let them down so badly. This cultural Marxism, which attempts to divide and rule, also attempts to break up the nuclear family, turning children and parents against each other, leaving young adults with such a nihilistic worldview that they no longer wish to have children. Bjorn Lomborg and others take a more optimistic view about the population of the world, showing us that we are not over populated as a planet and indeed human beings are NOT a plague on the planet, even if the likes of the late Prince Philip and David Attenborough say that we are. Thankfully there are some influential people fighting back now, from Julie Burchill herself, to Douglas Murray, to Calvin Robinson, to Dr Jordan Peterson, to Rod Liddle, to Brendan O'Neil, to Andrew Neil, to Jacob Rees-Mogg, to Nigel Farage, to J K Rowling and so on. There is hope, there is light at the end of this terrible dark tunnel we are in, but we must all do our bit to fight back. In my home town, everyone I talk to about these issues agrees with my anti-woke views and almost all feel betrayed by the main political parties and, like me, do not know who to vote for in the election next year, when we may well have another convenient pandemic to deal with in order to disrupt the voting. It looks like Labour may sweep to power, but I fear they would be even worse than the "red" Conservatives have been. It'll come down to voting for the lesser of several evils I fear, which is hardly a reason to feel cheerful. By the way, I love Julie's Bristol accent. I'm in the north east and up here there is still pride in the region and many people are moving here from the south east, midlands, north west and parts of Yorkshire, no doubt escaping overcrowding and other problems. Some of these new arrivals are newly retired people and many get straight into volunteering and of course they bring money into the town, all good for the local economy. The Chinese say that the fish rots from the head down, well it may well be the case that we have a multi-headed fish (London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol, Brighton) with the liberal elites of those big cities dictating the policies for the whole country.

Incredibly honest person whose columns I have enjoyed from time to time. I like that she highlighted the notion that the woke mob are by and large silly (I would add priviliged) people who are steered by the sinister. However I have yet to be enlightened as to who are the sinister and what are they trying to achieve by this control of the population?
The methods are there to be seen e.g. control of the language, fragmentation of the population by constantly referring to the subject of race relations, sexual orientation, climate change, Brexit etc etc.
There is no doubt that we are becoming a nation of two different types of people the woke and the non woke and there could be some conflict in the future.

In the US, a sizable number, perhaps approaching a majority, of the “non-woke” are well-armed, so any real physical conflict between the “woke” and “unwoke” would be over very quickly.
On the other hand, those well-armed “non-woke” persons also tend to have libertarian “live and let live” and “rugged individualism” values, so they do not unite as willingly with one another nor press their rhetoric upon the whole of culture as stridently as the Wokies do.
If it weren’t for the inherent threat of armed revolt the Second Amendment was designed to perpetually maintain as a check against naked tyranny, America would already be lost.
