I tell you, as a Camp Fire survivor, the fastest way to move is lose everything all at once. Then you can pick your new locale and buy new.

If you are a fire refugee, you will fit in. Maybe more humble.
I moved to the South from CA 20 years ago. Its a liberal town in a conservative county. Its known for its beauty.
It took me a long time to adjust to living outside the town in a semi rural area.
The views are gorgeous. But people from CA need to change if they want to build their dream home in the country, as many transplants do. Just don’t do politics or drive a foreign car unless it’s a truck. Trucks are always ok.
Government Pension will let you live in very affluent area so you will be around other CA .

Hey Heidi, I started watching this before I realized it was YOU!!!! Ha ha ha! It is a BIG adjustment, but the South is AWESOME! I am SOOOOO GLAD you are enjoying it here. I DO NOT miss CA ONE BIT!!! I escaped in 1992 and NEVER LOOKED BACK! Glad Y'all are now Southerners!

Good morning!! I was in the same boat... It was probably stress over leaving your dad that made you crash (ill) for 2 days. You are definitely headed for better times!! Can't wait to see what happens!!

How did you handle the humidity last year? Thirty-three years in the Seattle area, retired and looking to relocate. I'm originally from Santa Monica/Venice, California. Planning an exploratory trip to middle and Eastern Tennesse.

The weather is definitely different than the west coast. We moved from Corona, Ca where the summers get in the triple digits. It’s not as hot here but there are definitely days where the humidity is high. You do the same thing here as you would there. Stay inside during the middle of the day and do most outside stuff in the morning and evenings. We live near a lake so we do boating when it’s hot and humid and spend a lot of time in the water. I was here a lot in the summer and did these activities but hadn’t moved here yet. The biggest change for me so far has been the colder winter. It will definitely be different than Seattle as coastal western areas don’t have a lot of temperature fluctuation. Here you will experience all of the seasons. What I like about middle Tennessee is that it is pretty close to travel to many areas. If you are cold in the winter, you can travel pretty easily to South Florida or even the Bahamas and Caribbean. Maybe Kim can answer this also since she has lived here for over a year and a half now. - Brian -

We have been here now 18 months, and the humidity was tough at first, but we just did whatever we wanted and knew it might be tough outside. Lake days are awesome and we plan to do more of that this summer. I totally understand how weather can be a major factor in moving somewhere, I lived in Orange County my whole life and this is different, but we were ready for different. I am still getting used to the seasons, allergies and checking the weather a lot, never worried about that before. Bottom line for us was an incredible opportunity with life long friends and a super awesome part of this country! Life is an adventure and we are taking full advantage of this one. - Kim -

@@tennesseetime3973Thanks guys for such a thorough and informative answer to my question. I do believe I need to stick with finding a more moderate climate as approaching seventy yo, I have less tolerance for those climate extremes than I did twenty or thirty years ago. Thanks again and I'm so glad you're enjoying your new life in middle Tennessee.

@@kimcrowe8300Thanks, Kim. I appreciate your taking the time to answer my question and the three of you have given me valuable insight on what would be in store for me were I to make a move to middle or eastern Tennessee. Thanks again.

Go in the Summer. July or August to go for a month.
Winters in Nashville are pretty mild kinda like foothills of Sierra Nevada

Thanks for watching! I’m sure each of us have a different reason. I am getting close to retirement and wanted to be able to retire without debt. The cost of living in California was just one of the reasons. We were really pushed towards our decision during COVID when we took a trip to Nashville and experienced the difference it gave us the push. I’ve also had this dream of buying land and designing and building my dream home. That wasn’t going to happen in California. Add to that the high taxes, out of control utility cost, crime and homelessness, and it all made sense to get out at this time. Thanks again. - Brian -

@tennesseetime3973 I ask because we have a lot of people coming out of blue states. Most people leave the blue states and come to red states because of what you mentioned, If you love ❤️ Tennessee so much don't vote Democrat, eventually all the Democrats will leave these blue states and they will come here and Tn will be the same way.God Bless GO Vols.

If you didn't mind the politics in Kalifornia you don't belong here, If church don't matter to you then you don't belong here, if you believe in lgbtq & trans favoritism you definitely don't belong here. I notice you didn't bring none of that up for fear of offending or it ain't your agenda but only you & your life is. Yer probably in good hands in the immoral living of Nashville where all the liberals gather.
