I love that look the Slayer gives the Seraphim. He knows the difference between aid and manipulation. It is a nice way of implementing the idea of it being your own fight

It's obvious he had his own agenda and definitely was going to fuck everyone up a la Khan Makyr. The Father's orb needed to be destroyed because now he can't take a physical form and can't be killed, meaning that no one else will be fucking around trying to take advantage of his power. Meanwhile giving the Dark Lord a physical form means he can die.

Doom Eternal establishes that Doom Slayer was fighting alongside the Setinals so while he wouldn’t of had his Armour we see him within the game. It’s highly likely he had the Marauder looking armour and the Sword that is the only capable thing too fully kill a titan with.
In the codexes, the all knowing "father" ends up making a bunch of mistakes in the name of good. When the realm that became hell turned corrupt, father locked the dark lord away instead of exterminating him because he still loved his creation. He and Samur later on bailed on Urdak because reasons. Doom Guy has a long history with Samur & Father and probably destroyed his sphere because, A: Father is too good natured and wouldn't let Doom Guy destroy the dark lord; or B: Father has already proved himself to be capable of making mistakes despite his divine knowledge, and might create another dark lord after the first one is gone.
I think I may have a true explanation on why Doomguy did what he did. It wasn’t for revenge. It was to borrow himself some time. Doomguy seems to be aware that The Father or The Seraphim would not want to kill The Devil so he devises a plan to break the Father’s life sphere and have it be absorbed into the Seraphim’s body which will borrow him some time to kill The Dark Lord. After killing the Dark Lord, every demon outside of Hell will be immediately erased. And only then will Doomguy transfer back the Father’s life sphere back into Vega so that the void of Urdak can be sealed once again.
I don't think the Father was of any use at this point, he broke the sphere for two reasons : the father would have been one of the only remaining beings with enough power to oppose him, and above all, because Samur's plan was to put humanity at his service "Serve the gods once again" Which definitly didn't sound right to the Slayer

In a ways, The Father is basically how God actually is. A merciful being who tends to every one of his creations and when he does have to kill he regrettably does it. (Take that of what you will cause God in other media is shown to be a evil tyrant of an entity who only wants power and blood) However Doom explores how showing too much mercy can sometimes be an Achilles heel as later on Hell would become a relentless force against humanity and would destroy most of Earth. As Vega, he now understands the consequences of his actions and hence why he allows Doomguy to resurrect the Dark Lord. Part 2 will most likely end with a monologue by a now physical Father personally acknowledging that Doomguy was right all along.

So if he did that, then the Dark Lord would still exist as an ethereal presence. By resurrecting him, DG was able to kill Davoth permanently. In a twist, this means by destroying the Father’s life sphere, the father is still alive, just unable to force change anymore.
I'm wondering why the Slayer betrayed him though? Was he concerned Samur would use the Father for his own devices? I feel like Hayden/Samur has helped humanity in many ways... but yet he was the one who released Argent onto Earth.
I'm guessing Doom Guy is the good part of Davoth and the Dark Lord was the bad part ripped from him and placed into the life orb by the Father. So when they actually fight, it'll be their polar-opposite self. Think about this, Davoth tried to enhance the beings of Jakkad with eternal life because he didn't like their mortality. What if they were actually humans that he was trying to give eternal life to, but in the search for it they ended up becoming monsters
I like the idea of Slayer having to literally face his demons, Davoth being his other half and the other side of the same coin. Looking at Slayer's reaction to the interns question about killing the dark lord, he appears somewhat solemn about it. I get the feeling there's going to be a high cost on killing Davoth, either the balance of the world will shift radically or in the worst case Doomguy will die with him. That is if they are connected in more ways than just the looks and the power they possess. If Doomguy were to die it would be by his own volition for sure.

So why didn't he just destroy the Dark Lord's life sphere then and there?
So if he did that, then the Dark Lord would still exist as an ethereal presence. By resurrecting him, DG was able to kill Davoth permanently. In a twist, this means by destroying the Father’s life sphere, the father is still alive, just unable to force change anymore.

I'm guessing Doom Guy is the good part of Davoth and the Dark Lord was the bad part ripped from him and placed into the life orb by the Father. So when they actually fight, it'll be their polar-opposite self. Think about this, Davoth tried to enhance the beings of Jakkad with eternal life because he didn't like their mortality. What if they were actually humans that he was trying to give eternal life to, but in the search for it they ended up becoming monsters
I like the idea of Slayer having to literally face his demons, Davoth being his other half and the other side of the same coin. Looking at Slayer's reaction to the interns question about killing the dark lord, he appears somewhat solemn about it. I get the feeling there's going to be a high cost on killing Davoth, either the balance of the world will shift radically or in the worst case Doomguy will die with him. That is if they are connected in more ways than just the looks and the power they possess. If Doomguy were to die it would be by his own volition for sure.
