    I just noticed the kids in the ad playing Street Fighter cheered and celebrated when they *LOST.*

    Gaming would be really good today if Sega and NEC were still around producing hardware.

      I still dream of a Dreamcast 2

      Meh. It'd just be another pc in disguise like every other system.

    DYK: In Japan, CD-ROM2 was pronounced as “CD-ROM-ROM”, not “CD-ROM square/squared”, nor is it “CD-ROM-two”.
    I found that out a few years ago.

    With all the add-ons the PC engine was actually the strongest 16 bit system

      Yeah! Too bad about the marketing tho

      It was 8-bit wasnt it? I think they counted the 16-bit graphics processor as qualifying it as a 16 bit console even though the CPU and the rest of the machine technically wasn't. Nearly as sneaky as SNK saying the Neo-Geo was 24-bit by adding up the bits in various chips lol.

    I had the original with cd addon. I bought the card making it a duo system. I loved it.

    Cool video. I remember reading some bits (heh) on these consoles in the 80s magazines but they were (AFAIK) never released here.

      Are you in Australia too? From what I can tell, it wasn't released anywhere except for Japan and America with a very limited Europe release (seems to be France and maybe the UK).

      Greece. Though I wasn't paying much attention to consoles at the time, I remember reading about them but never actually saw one on sale.

      Some time ago an English gamer mentioned how back then there were Japanese systems (not just PC Engine) which were imported by stores (not official imports), added necessary changed and then sold to gamers there. Perhaps you had one of them.

      @meetoo594 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Trusteft: Yeah, I remember a lot of mail order grey importers that did that. I got my Jap megadrive and Neo-Geo from one such place. Whats putting doubt in my mind is the fact I got it in the Virgin Megastore, a very high profile shop that wasn't associated with modded imported consoles (they never sold modded mega drives etc). Dunno, im gonna have to go up in the loft and find the box to put this to bed lol.

    Really interesting video, would be good to see more on the Pioneer LaserActive or the Sharp X68000

    • @retrogameon
      @retrogameon  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The LaserActive is definitely on the to-do list. Not so sure about the Sharp, though. While an impressive machine, it doesn't really have much (that I can see, anyway) to make it stand out?

    The TurboDuo should have shipped with a six button controller. And they should have release all the AAA titles to sale the system.

    This video would be a lot better without the jump scare static screens.

    Sad, the Turbo Duo was quite a bit better than the Sega CD. The software simply wasn't there for NEC
