Just a heads up to any contra fans. This can also be played on a windows pc. Somebody ported it from the android version and it works great. The controls were also fixed, I believe on the android version the movement and shooting were intertwined. I also bought an snes controller for my pc and it works with this as well, you just need to use a keyboard to start the game and select your character. I’d leave a link to a dl but not sure if that’s ok here, but can be easily found if you just google it
What I wouldn't of given to have played this back 2 years ago only to have discovered this in 2018, it's SO irritating to find out now sigh...Still it looks wonderful though and those NES memories of 1987/88 keep coming via a nostalgic hit of a rush that won't die thanks to this remake?! I'm not sure if Konami had anything to do with this or it's a 3rd party remake (which I think it is because Konami never get their act together in this decade!!). I hear the controls are W,S,A,D?! That'll take abit of getting used too but I'll think of this of going back to child years again via a re-visit?! I can die a happy man that a decent remake of Contra 1 has been made! It's not totally perfect but what it is in this decade?! It's free and it's good enough!!! Subscribed!

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, "oh cool, a Contra remake. Show the young scrubs how we did it back in the day." Character select with voices, newer visuals and soundtrack...alright, so far so good. On the other hand, we can hold all the weapons at once? I mean...I guess that's less frustrating that accidentally losing your favorite weapon to another pickup...also the game seems to react so slowly. Enemies don't run; they just kind of jog at you. Projectiles crawl across the screen, bosses takes only a handful of hits to bring down and don't do much in the meantime. Also, I see that "free play" option at the bottom. Come on now; there's easy mode and then there's "whatever" mode. I mean, I get that we want people to see the game, but there was also a kind of ownership of a game's ending when you had to struggle and achieve mastery to get there. New players won't earn that feeling and they'll never be able to relate if we just let them coast through on a guided tour instead of actually fighting for it.
Real Gamers like us had calluses on our thumbs and bled. We just bandaged them up and came back for more. No memory cards, SD cards, save anywhere features, just finish the game in one setting.
I played this game all the time until they just randomly terminated it... Im still pissed off about it to this day. One of the funnest mobile games i have played.
There is an executable for each type of resolution, in most cases the places where the download is available, there is a folder with the executables for each screen resolution.

Thanks friend, the game gives you many possibilities of gameplay, it is not a game so difficult even at high level, since it is very similar to the NES version.
Back then,we had to learn to hang onto our weapons. And if you were playing 2 player mode and you had the spread, *you* had to provide cover fire for your buddy.
Other than looking pretty this one looks like they Contra and gave it an Easy mode... A VERY Easy mode. And I'm not one that thinks the original was as hard as lot of the other old folks do.
The graphics look good, but the gameplay seems to be very easy. I mean, guns in both hands up the damage, rocket launcher with homing rockets is so very OP. I can also notice the boss in Stage 3 shooting bombs from its mouth so slow that is a cakewalk to dodge them.
I always wondered how can change from rain forest to snow just climbing some waterfalls?..till I remembered you can find those kind of changes in Ecuador.

Same opinion here. Its easier than the original. Especially the Base 1 and 2 levels.
As someone who sank many hours into NES Contra, I would have played the hell out of this.

NES was best. I would prefer the original Contra over this. It was the best experience of gaming in my life.

Thats all gone man. Today if its at all difficult they just quit and pick the next game, over and over again. A damn shame for the real gamers.

This is the arcade version in normal difficulty, but in the arcade version you can increase or decrease the difficulty on your own.
