I watched this again today, with the video that the person made with the simulator, and it finally hit me. The upper arm DOES NOT MOVE. Anything that I thought I should do with the upper arm is wrong if it involved the upper arm moving. It is, basically, held still. Then the lower arm can move with inertia and act like a whip. Mind blowing. All of a sudden a lot of throwing advice makes sense. And I realize that 90% of what people are focusing on is pretty much wrong. Ezra oh Ezra... I've been playing for six years and been studying lots of clinics and trying to mimic some of the pros with similar body size as me (no point in watching the Crush Boys when looking more like Avery or Nate Doss). "The straight pull" is something that has been following me for all these years but now, several years later, you put out a short video showing that there is no pull, only angles and rotation from down to up. I focused on this on a small field today with stand still throwing putters and man with nearly no effort at all (from what it felt) I threw 200 feet so straight and almost perfect release point every time. Didn't get much snap but only used about 60% power so I guess that will come when powering up more. Huge thank you Ezra for showing the obvious, that there is no pull in the technique at all, only a fast rotation and timing the angles. Now I know why players with long arms have such an advantage.

I wish I could like this a thousand times. You described this perfectly! The top down graphics are great, but the simple statement that your arm just extends, comes back, and then extends again...is spot on, and what I tell everyone I teach. That's all it does. Your body does 95% of the work, your arm does 5% as far as power. To me, when people hear "pull" the tend to put too much force in the arm and end up rounding. You really just basically dance around the disc, and spin out of it. In reality, it's not even really a "throw". A side arm is a throw. A power drive backhand is more like a figure skater doing one of those quad flip things. Sorry figure skaters, don't know your lingo. You're just holding on to a disc and letting it go at the perfect time while doing so. Imagine if James Conrad or KJ had to stick their landings haha. Holy shit this video is so good. Explains how so much of the power comes from the legs through the core, and the arm is mostly there to guide the whip of the forearm and wrist. Arm mostly just needs to hold on, brace the power through to the forearm, and let it release out the wrist and fingers. Just an awesome video.

@@HiddenView1977 What disc did you throw 350ft? I'm struggling with distance, can do about 310 max with steps lol. Do you keep your weight on your right foot when throwing from standstill? When reaching back do you keep the weight on your right foot?
@@michaelg2502 Avenger SS Discraft. 10 / 5 / -3 / 1 and is super beat in. It flips over to a roller if I don’t release it on an almost 45 degree angle. From a standstill, I start with almost all my weight on my left leg and my right heel up. I initiate my throw by driving my left arm down and towards my groin. I simultaneously bend left leg which forces my heel down and the weight to transition. I try and keep my right arm as loose as a noodle as I can while lagging the disc as much as I can. Torque is generated by my left leg bending in which allows me to push a little as well which also helps with weight transfer. You can’t turn your hip as fast as you need by turning your hips. You have to bend your left leg which is what really rotates your hips. Left arm going down is what stretches your rubber band in your back. Do not do this without a towel or disc in your hand or at least, don’t go past the power pocket. I am not consistent with 350. I am more consistent at 300 with a standstill. Timing is my biggest problem. Videoing myself has helped tremendously as well. Super easy to see what your doing wrong with slo-mo from an iPhone.

I really hope that whoever signs Ezra still allows OTB to be involved. (Similar to how Paige and Nate Perkins are.) I know the money is with a big sponsor, and Ezra deserves that, but the little companies deserve love too and Ezra seems to really appreciate what OTB has provided thus far.
And the big companies should take not how loyal he is and proud to represent OTB. That, as a sponsor should mean a lot!
I will still be with OTB for next season and most likely beyond 🤙
@@EzraAderholdDG Awesome, great to hear!
Brand new to the sport and this is fantastic info. Just absolute amazing insight. This explains why all the wrong body parts are sore after I finish a round! Maybe I can throw further than 20m now
Amazing video I can’t wait to try this out in the field!!
Makin it look EASY! Thank you for this. Can’t wait to get back to the course.
Had to watch this 5-10 times to really get it...great advice tho!
AAAAHHHHH!! Another mention of Ezra’s left pec! Adidas sponsor this man’s left pec already!!!!
Haha
thanks for the explanation...I feel like I have been throwing wrong by the way you said don't pull through that way and still get it out there pretty good, so I can't wait to tweak my throwing motion.
Dude, this video helped me out so much! I am excited for some snow to melt so I can work on this technique.
Sometimes, liking just isn’t enough. Thanks so much for the breakdown!!
As a new player, I’ve watched quite a few tutorials. This one finally got all the pieces in place for me and I threw my first ever 350+ ft drive from a stand still position today after watching this vid last night. This is the vid that got it to click for me!!
Once I get my foundation finished, will move on to one step, then x-step.
Thanks so much!!!!

He was also instrumental in advice as well.
Excellent video Ezra!
Great job Ezra. Really well explained. Something new to try on the training sessions.
I'm loving your channel more and more.
Great video, dude! That was a great angle for the overhead, and showing all the angles when you hit them. Very helpful!
I’m excited to give this way of throwing a try I have never heard it explained like this. I really want to break into the 500 ft category
This is great. I've been having some issues with going further than 300ft. I'm hoping that this will help. The top-down visuals are super helpful
Finally, someone that tells you that pulling through your chest is wrong. Something that a million reddit posts and youtube videos tell you should be doing is in fact wrong. You're not starting a lawnmower.
Yet another awesome video. 🙏🏻 ❤️ FX2, very nice!!!!
another great video Ezra. Killing it with the tips vids. Thanks!
Great video!!!! The explanation is spot on Ezra, thank you!
This was very eye opening, thanks Ezra.
No one explains everything better than you can’t wait to see who you sign with and what is to come of this upcoming year good work Ezra! Hoping it’s discmania so we can get some bean powered p2’s!
🙌
Throwing prodigy. Interesting. My favorite discs - The Fx-2
Love seeing that prodigy FX2 in your hand. Always a staple in my bag. Hope prodigy can pick you up. That’s all I throw.
