It will be months before my yard is passible again. I had two major trees knocked over in the yard and at least eighteen large oaks down in my forest. I'm heartsick about the trees, but I have to be thankful that the house & hangar are okay. So many have it far worse, the hurricane was horrible.

Sorry to hear about your trees. Luckily I did not lose any trees, just some small branches and my fencing around my garbage pails blew down. Glad you came out safe, that is the important thing.

That’s so sweet of you to give your love to the Hurricane Affected victims. I ditto that sentiment. Much love to you all, and those of you who lost loved one. Be comforted knowing God has this. Even in the worst times God has it. We as humans can’t fathom death and destruction, but to God there’s only life. Spirituality speaking; We could be alive, but dead, or dead, but alive.
Althings are created by God and his Mercy is unchanging.
Jesus was sent not to judge the world, but to save it.

Brian, you mentioned the flood victims in the Southeast. It is very bad, and I ask everyone to please pray for them all. NC was hit extremely hard. Asheville is completely cut off and it's very hard to get any supplies in. Entire towns have been totally destroyed. They are gone. People are still without food and water. And the government has sent NO help. And many are dead or missing. Please pray for them.

    • @robine916
      @robine916 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

The government has sent lots of help. The $$ was approved even before the hurricane hit. They are in constant contact with all agencies assisting, offering anything they need. There are many areas only accessible by helicopter due to roads being washed out. Chef Jose Andres and his World Central Kitchen is in as many areas there as possible providing food and water, he even sent tanker trucks with water to the areas where the water pipes are broken. This is a rare catastrophic event, and all of the Governors have spoken out about how helpful the US Gov has been, and have thanked them. Let's pray for all involved, both the victims and the people helping out. 🙏🙏

I will tell you, the more I learn, the less I know. Understand that you sharing what went on connected with so many of us, because many times we cannot put into words what happened in our lives, and how we missed focusing on what was so grand in that moment of our lives. It's amazing that you found words for what we lived through as failures but kept going. I don't look back often at the moment because it is overwhelming. But I will, one day, put pencil to paper, and then pen to paper so my girls have the history of how I became to unstoppable woman at 66, that I am. Yes, please remember to share those moments you have figured out, because it's not the garden, or the homestead, it is figuring out how to live and appreciate life. I love life. Thank you so much, sorry this is so long.

Hi from Appalachia. Our town fortunately came out fairly unscathed, but devastation surrounds us. We have become one of the staging areas for supply runs because of our proximity. Please keep everyone here in your prayers- it’s so much worse than the mainstream media is saying. Think Katrina, but worse and across hundreds of miles. Whole towns are simply gone. And the death toll is easily 10x what they are reporting. But our communities are banding together and rescuing people and bringing supplies where certain agencies are showing their incompetence. We even have mule trains, hikers and those on horseback accessing the most rural areas that are completely cut off.

Thank you for your prayers for victims of the hurricane. Lots of folks have had worse problems than we have, but it is such a blessing to have water again. You don't expect to have hurricanes affect you in East Tennessee, but sometimes it does. We are in a hilly area and don't flood at our house, but in town some areas do. I hear helicopters go by and I know they are life flight runs to get someone to the hospital. I pray for those people. A friend told me her five year old son asked her if he should pray for people in an ambulance going by. Isn't that precious. I loved it. Anyway, I'm sorry about your chicken. She must have already been sick. I think you should tell the guy who raised her so he can be on the lookout for the rest of his flock to be okay. Raising animals always has ups and downs. It can be heartbreaking at times. But you'll get through this. Los Angeles, California was never that hot when I lived there from 1948 to 1964. The weather here is four seasons and we love it here. Take care!

Sharing with others dealing with the same issue is healing - finding that you are not alone.Your video may have been the "new" social media group therapy. I would still encourage non-social media group therapy, for those that connected with you. it is great that your video touched so many like myself. Being venerable on this platform for "clicks" as what viewers perceive as real is rare. Thank you! However, I hope that viewers also seek help elsewhere, in addition to social media.

Well I am very excited for your new Lamborghini! ❤❤😂😂
I have raised chickens a long time and I used breed Buckeyes. My only advise would be, and maybe you did this and just didn’t say, but any new addition to your flock should be quarantined for about 2 weeks. Now maybe you don’t have a place to do that, but you don’t want to bring anything from the outside in. When you do quarantine them giving electrolyte’s and vitamins can be helpful, but one thing I learned about chickens is they are fragile especially at a young age. I probably don’t need to tell you that. Honestly if the breeder was decent, they may give another one.but they do need to know because they need to look at their own flock. See if theres an issue, also if your weather has been up and down, it might have been pneumonia. Anyway, I love your honesty and sharing you are very brave!❤ Opening yourself up to the public, sharing things so personal, not all people are kind, they sit behind their computer screens and judge and say nasty things because they would never be confronted in person. I absolutely love both your channels! You and your wife are the best! And 8 days later, where is the government??? Locals are hauling in supplies, some by mule, because the roads are gone. The county I live in in central NC is collecting supplies, 4 tractor trailers went out this am, and they are still collecting. It is a drop in the bucket of what they will need. They are trying to restore power and phones. As well as those that have lost everything, the workers need to be fed. IF your readers are able to help, Samaritan's purse appears to be a good place. Congratulations on your addition to your chicken flock. I took a poultry class through UC extension many years ago . I learned a lot about poultry in general and Biosecurity in particular. You live pretty close to Mexico and there as well as the rest of California is having a lot of bird flu show up in our poultry flocks this year. May I make a suggestion concerning your chicken coop? A solid roof over your chicken run would protect your chickens from wild bird droppings falling into your coop and possibly infecting your chickens and eventually you and your family. It is just a thought, maybe one day when you have nothing else to do (ha, ha) you might put a roof over the run. 😃 Love your channel, you have been a great help to me, thanks

I am sure you got plenty of suggestions for getting the hay up the hill but here's mine get a wench (one that uses a car battery) and pull a wagon up the hill. Even a smaller model would pull a "hay wagon" up that hill. 😊

I've tried growing Habanada peppers three times without success. I think it is my growing area, north central Alabama. I'm tempted to give them one last try. We'll see. My fall garden is doing great thus far.

I have an interesting story for you with Habanada.
I grow chillies every year. Cayenne , Reaper for friends, literally anything hot but nothing for me because I don't like hot.
This year for the first time I also sowed chillies just for me. Habanada. Heard great things about it, wonderful taste for those not used to spicy. Grew four seedlings, in addition to all the others, about 10 plants in total. The weather made the start more stunted than not, but with careful tending all the plants have become beautiful bushes.
Lots of flowers, which the hot summer has pushed in a lots of fruits. It promised to be a bountiful harvest. And it was. It still is, I am still picking.
But.... Somewhere in between I completely forgot, probably because I've never come across this before, about cross pollination.
Now you probably know where this story goes. So, harvest time, the fruits are colouring, ripening. Exept, two Habanada plants have strange fruits. Not too weird, a bit more red, the bumps are less pronounced and I see a suspicious devil's tail on a few of the fruits (like Reaper has). Don't ask me how I didn't figure out what had happened there.
I had already eaten a few of the usual ones, but that day it was time to try one of the 'strange' ones. And I tried it in a set, up to the stalk.
Oh boy was I in for a treat!
Trust me, at that moment I knew immediately what had happened. Lucky for me, cross pollinating means partial exchange, nevertheless the experience was doused with a lot of milk. The locals joke that I bred Reapanada 🤣 And, to top it all off, my daughter has fallen in love with these fruits and says they are absolutely fantastic!
I was somehow doing an experiment without knowing it. I really love gardening....because I always learn so much.

In case you don't know it yet that cow is pregnant! I will have to try that pepper now! I thought they were hot and I don't do hot!!! That chicken is beautiful and the iridescent colors are so nice! Sorry you lost one! At least it didn't die alone. A number of us consider you a friend even though you don't personally know us. But you are so honest in telling us how you feel and thats what makes us feel like we are friends! We do care about you and your family!

I got an error so I don't know if my comment came through. But she looks a little fuller around her belly and side. It could just be how she looks in the video. Look at her from the front or back. Does that area look a little rounder! Maybe like she had just a little too much to eat. Look and see if you notice it! Best of luck with her!

I appreciate your honesty. I am in NC but, thankfully, Helene went west of us. But I do have family and friends in the area and it has been hard (but they are all safe). I'm so glad you got to enjoy your habanada pepper. I've made a really yummy hot sauce using all habanadas with a few tabasco peppers for a touch of heat. Because the plant takes so long to produce, I want to try to overwinter it to get a jump start next year - would love to see you do a video with your habanada. I would watch Monday Milking Chats.

Maybe just buy a little quad with a small trailer to haul the hay up ..then if Noah isn’t around you can manage by yourself ? Those little trailers are pretty useful for other things too😂

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I live in Anderson SC and we’re hit pretty bad but things are getting better, but the area around Asheville NC and Chimney Rock got 24 to 33 inches of rain in under 14 hours. The media images do not give a fraction of the destruction that happened as personal reports and images of towns hit are horrific

Brian I do not mean this in a rude way but I think y’all have a rooster there. The saddle feathers and hackles are dominate. His larger tail feather is already curling over too. I am an Ayam Cemani breeder in Texas and have nearly 40 of just this breed. He seems really sweet though so at least he’s not aggressive like some lines of this breed can be.
As for your video about your birthday I think many of us can relate. It made me pause and think. I love both your channels and love your book. I think you’re doing life the best you can and it has paid off over the years of struggle you’ve had. I look up to you in the gardening world so keep it up!
