In my opinion Mexico is known for good natural cheese. Also corn tortillas are the best , Mexicans have even fought against companies like Monsanto or Bayer to keep them off their maiz ..
My husband and I live in Zacatecas, Zacatecas and we love it there. We are in the US right now for the holidays, but you should visit there it is beautiful. Some of Mexico’s best food comes from Zacatecas.
When I lived in Playa I went every day to the market to eat. Full set meal was like $2 USD, including unlimited home made soft drink. Sometimes there was Chilpachole, a sea food stew that was absolutely delicious, and the owner always asked if you wanted more, and he served you more with no extra charge. Ese es mi México. Always walking the extra mile, always grateful, always kind.
"DJ taco to jump in the mic" I died, hahaha. Guys, you're in seaside, try the seafood!! ceviche, aguachile, pulpo (octopus), camarones a la diabla (shrimp on a spicy sauce) you're missing out that too!. Check the restaurant "Mariscos y Clamatos El Doctorcito". Born and raise Mexican here ;)
Unlike port cities, Playa is on the water but doesn't seem to have that seafood vibe. I'm here now and been here 2 and a half weeks andcthe food here is horrible in general. It's been a disappointment. Ill have to check these spots out.
Lol too true. Forgot to mention you were in Mexico when 'flying the nest' called to share their birth announcement with you. We thought that was cool seeing you two in one of their videos .
Aww I just love the way common sense prevails rather than driving the narrative to show all the touristy traps. Well done you for walking away from those Margaritas. If you are ever in Blackpool UK we can play about at our hotel and see if we can do them for you ;) Great vlog btw!
Glad you agree! We've got no problem in paying the cost for an amazing scene, but not wasting dollars or something not worth it! Beers and a rooftop pool at home any day haha
I was there for a couple weeks getting my scuba certification and walked through all those places. Fell in love with Playa! I am going back soon. Cheers.
love how you guys say "play ya" Del Carmen and us Americans say "Pl eye uh" Del Carmen. I know you've left already but Pacifico is my favorite mexican beer. Although they all pretty much taste the same. I've spent A LOT of time in this part of the world. Cheers. Dan
A classic Daneger and Stacey video! Doing your own thing off the beaten track - fantastic. I'm loving the look of Mexico and the food too. Classic moment at 12:47 Stacey - "Gimme my beer!"
In Mexico sandwich and tortas are two diferent stuffs...Tortas are bigger and have a lot of ingredients like Chorizo, Milanesa, a lot of cheese and vegtables and sanwitch are just ham, mayonese and two slices of milk bread
The Arab style of taco is explained by the fact that Lebanese migrated and brought their food them but blended it with the local Style. Don't forget the barbacoa, I'm sure I'm sure I'm going to see that....... soon 😆😆😆😆
I always go for a Modelo, or Model Negro, over Corona. Don't feel bad for liking Corona if it remains your favorite though :P I also prefer asada over pastor in tacos. I hope you guys were able to get Elotes!
You must try the shrimp tacos and the fresh ceviche at the roadside stand next to the St Francis supermarket at the turnoff to Tulum. (If you are driving from Playa del Carmen, the stand and supermarket are on the right hand side). The best tacos I have ever had. A very local spot, open air, easy to miss. Go in the morning just before noon - the fish are delivered freshly caught, the camarones (shrimp) fried to order. Try with a Modelo Negro beer. Enjoy!!!
Yes there are better beers in Mexico than Corona! My favorite is Victoria. Montejo is a good one too. Dos Equis is mainstream like Corona, but also good. Corona isn’t bad though. I’ll drink one myself every now and then in Mexico. Beers are such low abv’s where you can play the field without getting trashed.
Sol is always a good choice. 🍺 if you’re still in Mexico, you should go over to Isla Mujures. Or add it to your list of future travel. My favorite Mexican location.....

I like how you put up the prices in USD for the food and drinks. Just got back from Playa last month. We like the Dos Equis beer. Enjoying watching your video’s.
I've been to Cuba and to Dom. Republic too.... Mexico is much better by far: more developed, with better roads, better infrastructure, lots of amazing restaurants and much richer!
In Mexico a sandwich is slice bread a torta is made with like a panini type of bread to them that it is not the same a sandwich is a sandwich and a torta is a torta

Playa del Carmen "Mayan Rivera" is a digital nomad now???. That new to me cause I was there 3 years ago and it was more expensive then Cancun. Unless the it's a different place with a similar name
Yup it is a nomad spot and expensive at the same time, kind of surprising both exist, but possible to have an exceptional life there if you're willing to spend the dollars
Well, Mexican Cuisine is on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, if somebody doesn’t agree is because what they know as Mexican Food probably is something else, like TexMex
@@DanegerAndStacey Oh yes! I recall watching it. If you do stop and venture inland, there are many must do, beautiful hidden gems that only locals know. Also the bioluminescent bays (Mosquito and Parguera) are amazing to Kayak.

Hot countries for some reason don't make good beer. Guess it's the climate and Mexico is no different. No colour, no taste, no head, no texture. Mexico is great at some many things - why it has decided to start producing beer is one of the biggest misteries of the contemporary world.
Well, Mexico is a big beer producer in the world right now is number 6 and number 1 exporting, so... is all in your taste. www.worldstopexports.com/beer-exports-by-country/
Mexican beer overall is the best beer that the WORLD loves. There are a few beers that outsell corona in China and in the US, but that's due to domestic market not an indication of overall quality. What you want to measure is how much of it is exported, that gives you the amount of how popular something really is, when the whole world is asking for it. Do you know who is the world's most biggest exporter of beer? It's mexico, others don't even come close. Budweiser might outsell corona in the US, but Corona outsells Budweiser, guiness, skol across the world.
@@hern9897 Yes - I'm painfully aware of that but I'm sure you know that someone clever once said "Eat shit. Millions of flies can't be wrong." So I'd advise to be a bit careful with statistics. According to Google Search the most popular whisky in the world (no need to capitalise - it's just bad manners) is Jack Daniels which is not whisky at all..
Mexico has a great German tradition of making beer. Mexico has quite a bit of German history. King Maximilian, German immigrants in Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Sonora. Mexico has great beers in which the German immigrants decided to break the beer tradition and experiment with beer and Mexican beer was born.

HUGE change, culture shock and all so definitely worth it. Excited for you to get a real taco in a few days!
