First of all, thank you so much for the shout-out. That was really sweet of you both. I'm glad that you enjoyed it. It's an extraordinary dear restaurant to us because it's one of the first restaurants we went to when we got to Playa de Carmen. While we were watching your video Daria mentioned Mary's with the salbutes and the next restaurant you mentioned was Mary's with the salbutes. So I'm glad we both have the same taste buds and likes. You almost lost us at the Marquesitas but Mary's Restaurant got us back. 🤣🤣🤣 We prefer the Marquesitas at las Palapas in Cancun. I feel they put more love into making them in Cancun with more rich flavors. Marquesistas are good anywhere as long as the person knows how to make them ☺☺☺ Like always love the videos and we are so happy to have you in our lives. Saludos amigos. Looooved this tour thank you! We are coming next yr with 3 kids in tow so we need to know all of the non-fancy, more affordable spots! Will def try lots of these! 🤤
Hola amiga 🤗 Awwww thank you so much 🙏 yes, most of these places are very affordable and very close if you are staying close to the 5th or centro area. Not so fancy at all and you will be trying some of the locals preferred places to eat 🤭. Give it a try to the empanadas but get there early you will not regret, they are so tasty 🤭🤩. Thank you for the awesome video's, I have watched several and all are great. One question, is the water used to cook and making drinks clean? How do I avoid getting dysentery with my sensitive American stomach? Any suggestions or watch outs?
Hola Kirk, 🙌🏼 First and foremost, thank you for watching and commenting in our video❤️. We are so happy you have watched some of our content. It is totally clean 99% of the time is purified water that is used for cooking and or making ice cube so should not be a problem. 💯 Always carrying some desinfecting wipes, or hand sanitizer, as some places like the street food stands sometimes do not carry water to wash your hands. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 We have created a guide where we share more indepth about The Riviera Maya Travel, you might be interested in, you can check it out here: fortheroadtravels.com/product/the-locals-guide-to-travelling-the-riviera-maya/ Once again thank you so much for watching and commeting we truly appreciate it 🫶🫶

Hola *amigos* , thanks for watching and for your comment. We do not know any channel that makes healthy food videos here in PDC, but as far as we know there is a large variety of vegetarian and vegan restaurants in town.
*Hola Patrick* 👋👋 Awesome, we're so happy to hear that! 🤩 Which 3 places you did visit if you do mind us asking? 🤭. Thank you for watching, and leaving your comment. 🙏
Thanks guys, we have been to Playa many times but had never tried El Che y el Guey or El Oasis before, we did last week and loved them both, in fact we went back for empañadas three times! Great tips!
Awww thank you so much Barnes 🙏🥰. We loved those empanadas they're delicious, we are actually working on Part 2 of this PDC food tour 🤭. Thank you for watching and leaving your comment, we love reading that people visit the spots we recommend 🙏🤩
Hola amigos 👋🏼 Yes they are a MUST, however there are so many other delicious places in PDC, but the video could have been 1hr or more if we were to include them 🤭🤭. Thank you for watching guys 😊😊
Thank you guys so much for this. I will be in Playa del Carmen next minth and this is exactly what i want to eat: good local street food and traditional dishes.
You will *love* those options, there are even more options that we'd have to make 3 hours video to show them, but soon we will launch something very exciting for everyone who's travelling to this area, that we believe is going to be very helpful 🫶🙏
Hola Jessica, Yes, is good, isn't it? There is a branch close to our place and we buy from there once a week at least 🤭🤭. Yeah, we have heard about La Cochi-Loka but never tried. We know a place that we as Playa Locals we consider is the best cochinita in town but if you do not have a car is quite difficult to get there by public transportation and taxis can be pricey. Thank you again for watching and commenting this really helps us a lot 🙏🤗
We've never seen anyone open up an empanada. Brilliant! Geo, how could you skip class? We miss El Oasis!!! You got us looking for the closest place to get fish tacos! Simone that habanero face!!! 🥵 Guess we are gonna have to eat dinner early now. Great video Geo and Marquesita Queen! WE'RE THE FAN OF THE WEEK!!!! 🎉 🎉
Hello friendssss 🤗🤗🤗Oh ya, it really helps you to pack it FULL of with all the extras, plus its easier to eat without messing all over your clothes 😅🙏🙌 We are so glad we got to experience El Oasis with you guys - I can't remember if you guys got the fish tacos, but there so tasty 🥹 Hahaha, this South African palate is still warming up to the idea of habanero 🔥🤭 Thank you so much for all you support always, amigos - our favorite fans of the week 🥰🥰 Sending you both a big squeeze 🤗🤗
Hola John 🙌🏼 Awww thank you so much, people have previously asked if we do this tour - we think it’s time to start planning something like that🤭 keep us updated on your arrival and if we’re in town and have some free time available, we’d love to 🤗🇲🇽🌮
@@ForTheRoadTravels That would be awesome. Maybe a 1/2 day or something. Just found you on Facebook. Feel free to check out some of my pics from my previous trips! Last was May 26. Thanks!
Hola Patrick, Thank you very much for watching and leaving a comment. Great question, well depending on the restaurants, some of the restaurants use a mix of flour and corn, also you might find some whiteish tortillas made out of white corn, typically those one are mixed with some flour, but we cannot guarantee that. Something we can recommend it's checking out the Facebook group called: Expats in Playa del Carmen, they might have proper answer for your question. Once again thank you for watching our content, we truly appreciate it. 🙏🤩
@@ForTheRoadTravels I'm on the hunt for a great place to eat Caribbean Lobster tails if you think of place for me. "Harry's" is recommended on Trip Advisor but that place does not look to have a very local vibe in the photos. Cheers from CND
Sorry for the late reply Stephen, actually Oasis sell lobsters tails but we believe it’s on a particular day, because the hostess told us, you might want to check for that 🤩
Another great video, can I please ask what would you recommend as for money to bring.Dollar or Pesos.it’s just to know as I see prices on TH-cam in both but would like to know maybe what is best to bring as coming from UK.Thanks again keep up the great work.
Hola Robbo 🤗 Aww thank you so much 🙏🙏. Yes great question, we would suggest bringing USD and exchange them in Playa del Carmen, (not at the airport, they will exchange for a lower rate) there are money exchange places, and there is a maximum amount you can exchange per day, you might only need your passport and that's it. Thank you again for watching and we hope this info is helpful for you. 🙏🤗😊
Hola amigas 🤗🤗 Yeah, you definitely must try some of those foods, specially the empanadas 🤩🤩. Of course it would be a honor meeting up with you all 🙏🤩.❤️
Hi there! I stumbled across your video of Xelha and became a fan!! Really great content! Where would you suggest would be a good place to exchange dollars to pesos?
*Hola Nancy* 👋👋 Awww, thank you for watching another of our videos, and for joining our channel 🙏🫶. In PDC for us, there is a department store called: Elektra, and we found out it has the best exchange rate, however, they only allowed $300 USD a day, and there are few branches in the city. You might want to try San Jorge Casa de Cambio, there are plenty of branches in the city and the process, and you can change up to 4,000 USD a month. In both cases, a passport is needed for the exchange. 🙌 we hope this info, is helpful for you 🙏🤩.
Also If you are planning to visit Xel-ha, and you haven’t bought your tickets, you can find our affiliate link to the official website of the park here, shrsl.com/3tzdm we get a little kick back that helps us to create more videos like this. Muchas gracias 🙏🤩
Omg you are both so cute 🥰 I’m preparing a solo travel in December and I’m watching so many videos but they are mostly boring couples staying at expensive resorts 😂 you two are the kind of people is fun to hang out with. Thanks again!
Awww thank you so much Andrea 🙏 Awesome, will you be in Playa del Carmen only or the entire region. We are glad to hear you liked our videos and they are not boring 🤭🤭, thank you for your kind words and for watching and commenting, we truly appreciate it 🙏🙏.

@@ForTheRoadTravels I will be around one month so trying to decide where to stay. I land in Cancun but thought of going directly to Playa for one week. It was awesome to finally sit down and watch a video of you guys again. We have been super busy these days. Good to see your channel is growing. Unfortunately, not unfortunately I "Michael" I am the video editor for our videos on our TH-cam channel. Out of left field I was offered a contract for the next year to film and take photos for a haunted attraction. We miss making videos for our channel but, it is awesome to still see you guys growing. Thank you amigos once again for all your support, we hope you're doing amaziiiiiiiing and we wish you happy holidays and all the best for this 2023 🥰🥰.
It’s great to hear about all the places to go from locals. I missed getting a marquesita in PDC when we were there. We did make a stop at Chedraui and picked up some bunuelos. Could eat them till I get sick. So so good!! Great vid as always guys !!
Hola Nadine 🙌 Thank you for watching is always nice reading your comments 🥰. Yes, and we believe the tourist who visit PDC also get the experience, Yes, Marquesitas are all over the place in Playa and they are delicious at least Queso de Bola & Nutella are exquisite 🤭🤭. Did you get them inside Chedraui or the vendors outside the store? Simone has not tried them, so maybe one of these days I will buy them for her to try 🤩😊. Hope you're doing amazing Nadine and once again thank you for supporting our content 🙏🙏❤️
Yes we bought the bunuelos inside Chedraui in Cancun hotel zone on Avenida Kukulcan at Cancun point. My mother in law used to make them at Christmas and send us a box. She’s in her 80’s now and doesn’t make them anymore. I did get a rosette iron and make them myself now. 😋😋

The Argentina empanada place was always busy when we went so we would get items to go. Every item we tried was good. What is your favorite tostada location? We enjoyed Los Aguachiles; large portions on the tostadas and lots of salsa options.
Hola J 🤗 Yes, the two times we have been there has been always busy, just this time we were lucky to have a table and eat there, and yes, the empanadas we've tried were very good as well. In regards of Tostadas we have eaten at Chiltepin and Los Aguachiles and both are delicious, we recently visited Oasis and those fish and shrimp tacos were so tasty. Sending you guys a big hug and looking forward to meeting up you again. 🥰🤗
Hola Neil, you kind of have to see which places look the more hygienic, and sometimes is is unpredictable 😜. When comes to tacos we prefer to go to El Ñero o Fogón 🫶
Hello, We love your videos. We arrive in playa on 12 November. We have 4 days. Then we go to Cozumel to meet our daughter. We have another 4 days until Dec 3 when we fly home. Can we hire you for a food tour. Preferably around November 12? Cheers, Miller, Barbara and our little schnauzer Harlequin Rose 🌹
Yum yum yum! I must admit I find it difficult to think that Nutella and cheese is good. But then I remember we used to eat scones, jam and cheese in South Africa🤣.
Hola Nicolene, I must admit and I think I never said to Simone about the scones, I had the same thought as you with the Nutella and Cheese, but once I tried the scones with cheese and jam, I LOVED them 🤭🤭. ❤️
Oh we have walked by a couple of these places and have not tried them...we will try them when we return this winter....you really MUST go to Fat Rabbit....its is an absolutely fabulous little local spot...Viv
Hola Viv and Darrell 👋 You gust MUST, especially the empanada place. We will give it a try I just checked via Google maps and looks very cool and tasty. Just a bit far to get by public transport, but we might rent a car one day and stop by for some breakfast there 🤗. Thank you again for supporting us amigos, we really appreciate it 🙏😍
Hi Simone and Geovanny! New subscriber here 😊 you both are so relatable and I love the insider tips, the chapter-marked videos and your customized maps! 🫶🏽🥰 I’m coming in May with my brother and would love to try some local eats! Are there vegetarian (not necessarily vegan- we love 🧀) options you recommend? Are veggie or cheese or beans and cheese empanadas/salbutes/panuchos/tacos available? We can’t wait to have the pan au chocolat and marquesitas soon! 🤩
*Hola amigo* 🤗 Awww, thank you so much for your kind words, and for watching this video. In terms of vegetarian options, street foods are really hard to find. Something we can recommend is the quesadillas with cheese only, or you can get them with mushrooms, flor de calabaza [zucchini flower] Simone eats them and loves them. In our PDC guide (th-cam.com/video/DcHx-0VpVDg/w-d-xo.html) we show a place where to get tamales, and that street stand sells Tamales de Rajas (Poblano Pepper Strips and Cheese). You guys will love the Pan Au Chocolat, and Marquesitas. We are planning the 2nd part of this food tour, we hope we can release it before you visit PDC 🤩🙏

Great video! I love the food in Playa! Salbutes y Panuchos really take me back to that part of the world. If you ever want authentic Japanese ramen hit up Sakura Ramen next to the Palacio Municipal. My cousin from Japan runs that place and they have the best ramen, takoyaki, gyozas and chicken karage in all Quintana Roo, if not all of Mexico. Tell them Mako-chan sent you :)
Hola Mako 👋🏼👋🏼 Awww thank you so much ☺️ Yeah, Panuchos and Salbutes are staple of this area. When are you visiting back the Yucatán peninsula? Really we’ve been looking for ramen 🍜 for a long time and TBH we haven’t found anything yet so we will give a try to your cousin’s restaurant and definitely we will tell him you recommended his place 🤩🙏🏼. Thank you again Mako and we hope you be back to Mexico soon 🇲🇽
@@ForTheRoadTravels We did 6 months in the Yucatan this year. Absolutely loved it! We'll be taking some shorter trips to Baja and CDMX next year. Would love to do 6 months again because there is an endless amount of beauty and adventure in Mexico. I'll be tuning into your channel for more inspiration! Thanks!
We did to el Pirata twice as we loved the seafood. We also went to the Chicken place but made the mistake of getting the whole chicken - should have gotten half.
Hola Paul, unfortunately, the area has seen an increase in prices in the past few months. Avoiding the fifth avenue and venturing more into the local areas it's where you will find more authentic and local food, therefore affordable prices. But if you are looking for "good" restaurants would be at 5th Ave, but expect to pay sometimes US prices 🙏
How do you guys get around from place to place ? (Bus, taxi, uber) and for taxis do you guys have like a contact number for their transportation services? Thank you!
Hola Elizabeth 🤗 We typically use a mix of Combis (Public Transportation) & Taxis. Yes, actually there is an App (linked with WhatsApp messaging system) where you check the rates and you will be able request a taxi. radiotaxipdc.com/en/index.html We hope this info is helpful for you. ❤️🤩
Is like going to Paris and eat Texan BBQ or tacos al pastor ! Is just plain wrong . Places like rivers maya and other Caribbean destinations call for fresh fish and seafood

Always carrying some desinfecting wipes, or hand sanitizer, as some places like the street food stands sometimes do not carry water to wash your hands. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

The pinpointed map was good thanks! Any idea which channel I can check out for health playa eating options? 🇨🇦 🇿🇦
Hola *amigos* , thanks for watching and for your comment. We do not know any channel that makes healthy food videos here in PDC, but as far as we know there is a large variety of vegetarian and vegan restaurants in town.
I really enjoy your channel !! Can’t wait to try some of these spots!
Hola amigo, thank you so much for your kind comment really makes our day 🙏🏼🙏🏼. You will love it and please let us know which one was your favorite 🫶🫶
Thanks again for this video. We've tried 3 of your recommendations and they were fantastic!
*Hola Patrick* 👋👋
Awesome, we're so happy to hear that! 🤩
Which 3 places you did visit if you do mind us asking? 🤭.
Thank you for watching, and leaving your comment. 🙏
@@ForTheRoadTravels we tried Asadero El Pollo, Marquesitas, and Dona Mary's. We liked Dona Mary's so much we went back again tonight.
Awesome we are very happy you tried those ones, we have some other places for the second food tour 🫶🤭
The foods look delicious guys, things you must try
Hola amigos 👋🏼
Yes they are a MUST, however there are so many other delicious places in PDC, but the video could have been 1hr or more if we were to include them 🤭🤭.
@@ForTheRoadTravels oh that does sound exciting 🤗 Thanks again for sharing your time and knowledge! Hope you're enjoying a relaxing weekend.
Awesome video. Also sooo hungry right now.
Thank you amiga, and sorry for made you hungry 🫢🥰
Oh yesss, I loved that chicken place. Another one that I have in mind is La Cochi-Loka. For delicious cochinita, of course! 😍
Hola Jessica,
Yes, is good, isn't it? There is a branch close to our place and we buy from there once a week at least 🤭🤭. Yeah, we have heard about La Cochi-Loka but never tried. We know a place that we as Playa Locals we consider is the best cochinita in town but if you do not have a car is quite difficult to get there by public transportation and taxis can be pricey. Thank you again for watching and commenting this really helps us a lot 🙏🤗
Everything looked so delicious 😋
Hola Iriz 🤗
Thank you for watching 🙏
Yes, we love all those places the food is so tasty in every place, we highly recommend both empanada places 🤩🤩

@@ForTheRoadTravels jaja, I understand! You guys seem very busy!! 🤣
A little bit 🤭🤭
Thanks for the recommendations. My wife has celiac... Are the tortillas generally corn in PDC?
Hola Patrick,
Thank you very much for watching and leaving a comment.
Awesome stuff! How many of these places speak English or are they all Spanish? (I noticed the menu was in English at dona Mary)
Hola amig@
Most of them have basic English enough to take your orders and help you during the dinning 🤩🙏.
Thank you for watching
El Oasis looked amazing. Going to eat there 100% on my trip!
Yeah, please eat those shrimp or fish tacos are D E V I N E ! ! 🤭🤩🙏
Hola Robbo 🤗
Aww thank you so much 🙏🙏.
Yum yum 😋 Can't wait to try these delicious foods! Would definately love to meet up for coffee when we arrive x
Hola amigas 🤗🤗
Yeah, you definitely must try some of those foods, specially the empanadas 🤩🤩. Of course it would be a honor meeting up with you all 🙏🤩.❤️
Café Choux Choux !!! Love this place! :D
I'm glad you liked it!
Was so delicious great recommendation amigo 🙏🤩
We loved it, Simone actually is asking to go there as soon as we get back to PDC 🥰. Thank you again amigo and see you soon in Playa 🏝🇲🇽
Hi there! I stumbled across your video of Xelha and became a fan!! Really great content! Where would you suggest would be a good place to exchange dollars to pesos?
*Hola Nancy* 👋👋
Awww, thank you for watching another of our videos, and for joining our channel 🙏🫶.
we hope this info, is helpful for you 🙏🤩.
Also If you are planning to visit Xel-ha, and you haven’t bought your tickets, you can find our affiliate link to the official website of the park here, shrsl.com/3tzdm we get a little kick back that helps us to create more videos like this. Muchas gracias 🙏🤩

It’s great to hear about all the places to go from locals. I missed getting a marquesita in PDC when we were there. We did make a stop at Chedraui and picked up some bunuelos. Could eat them till I get sick. So so good!! Great vid as always guys !!
Hola Nadine 🙌
Thank you for watching is always nice reading your comments 🥰.

Hola J 🤗
Yes, the two times we have been there has been always busy, just this time we were lucky to have a table and eat there, and yes, the empanadas we've tried were very good as well. In regards of Tostadas we have eaten at Chiltepin and Los Aguachiles and both are delicious, we recently visited Oasis and those fish and shrimp tacos were so tasty. Sending you guys a big hug and looking forward to meeting up you again. 🥰🤗
The street food stands by The MEGA supermarket, used to be my favorite place to eat,but got food poisoning last year, not very hygienic.
The bola cheese is salty and ‘dry’. It’s really good with Nutella.
Hola Nicolene,
I must admit and I think I never said to Simone about the scones, I had the same thought as you with the Nutella and Cheese, but once I tried the scones with cheese and jam, I LOVED them 🤭🤭.
❤️
One rare but delicious combination, isn't it J? 🤭🥰
Oh we have walked by a couple of these places and have not tried them...we will try them when we return this winter....you really MUST go to Fat Rabbit....its is an absolutely fabulous little local spot...Viv
Hola Viv and Darrell 👋
You gust MUST, especially the empanada place. We will give it a try I just checked via Google maps and looks very cool and tasty. 🤩
*Hola amigo* 🤗
Awww, thank you so much for your kind words, and for watching this video.

Hola Mako 👋🏼👋🏼
Awww thank you so much ☺️
Yeah, Panuchos and Salbutes are staple of this area.
Thanks!
We are here now and are finding it more expensive than what we thought. Difficult to find good restaurants.
Thank you!
Hola Elizabeth 🤗
We typically use a mix of Combis (Public Transportation) & Taxis.
Yes, actually there is an App (linked with WhatsApp messaging system) where you check the rates and you will be able request a taxi.
