- Friends, President Biden speaks often of his Catholic faith, attends Mass regularly, and prays the Rosary. I have absolutely no reason to doubt the sincerity of his Catholicism. But I am sorry to say that, in regard to the most pressing moral issue of our time, he stands athwart both right reason and the explicit teaching of his Church.

Well done! As a parish priest (and just a fellow Catholic), it is so encouraging when our bishops finally speak up about the most important issues of our time. Dare we hope that more will do the same?
I sincerely hope so. It's demoralizing when bishops remain silent.
It is a scandal for public so-called Catholics to espouse such anti-truth and it is a scandal when Bishops don’t speak out and finally ex-communicate.
My wife is looking at the Catholic Church and sees the value in standing for truth but then points to the Bishops and says why don’t they do something.

With that said, I'm afraid Bishop Barron has gotten himself entangled with a losing cause. Republican candidates are removing their anti-abortion stance off of their websites. And after losing almost half of their membership, evangelicals are also changing their tune.
Yes violence in any form, including political violence, doesn’t matter the side of the isle. I think that this topic, abortion, is probably more pressing given that it’s resulted in more than 80 million lives lost vs the 0 lives lost as a result of the issue you’re raising.
@@joepisacreta3822 well, Pope Francis has stated that climate change is more pressing. To protect the life of the unborn child we must protect the life of the pregnant mother. And to protect the life of the mother, we have to provide her with a healthy environment.

I have gained more respect for you for speaking up on this, but please don't be so quick to defend pope Francis, or quote his inadequate utterances. Francis's laxity, encourages Biden and Pelosi in their positions. Well done for speaking out, but we need to back this up by actions. @Crusader Do you know the courage it takes to expose the TRUTH as Archbishop Barron has done? God has given our great Archbishop the guts to expose something that not even a handful of Bishops has exposed, let us pray that the rest of our Bishops will openly support vocally the stance which Robert Archbishop Barron has taken. Unfortunately, I'm sorry to say, most bishops are career politician trying to get promoted to Cardinals. That is really sad, we have to pray for our Bishops. Archbishop Barron is not in that mode.
Let's us pray to our Holy Trinity that in the future He'll be named Cardinal. To those cynics that think that would be impossible today, that is the kind of Cardinal we need. A true son of the Church, not working for promotions, but truly preaching the Word of God and the Magisterium of our Holy Church.

Bishop Strickland was the first who spoke up at USCCB meetings, but most bishops ignored his wise words.

and where in the Bible does it say God ... well, God favours killing babies ... there is nothing about medical termination of pregnancy (not abortion - that is a natural process).

ullock, in describing Hitler as a “rationalist and materialist,” quotes him in a wartime conversation with aides as saying:
The dogma of Christianity gets worn away before the advances of science ... Gradually the myths crumble. All that is left to prove that nature there is no frontier between the organic and inorganic. When understanding of the universe has become widespread, when the majority of men know that the stars are not sources of light, but worlds, perhaps inhabited worlds like ours, then the Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity.
By 1942, Hitler vowed, according to Bullock, to “root out and destroy the influence of the Christian Churches,” describing them as “the evil that is gnawing our vitals.”
Though Hitler felt a particular urgency - and hatred - when dealing with Jews and Communists, he viewed the Catholic Church as a pernicious opponent, a deeply-entrenched threat that must be controlled and eventually uprooted from German life in order to establish his promised Thousand-Year-Reich. To help eliminate Catholic influence, he turned to Alfred Rosenberg, arch-ideologue, anti-Semite, and despiser of Christianity.
In February 1933 Hermann Goering banned all Catholic newspapers in Cologne, citing that 'political' Catholicism - ie commenting on government policy - would not be tolerated.
A further straw in the wind was apparent when Storm troopers (SA) broke up meetings of Christian trade unions and the Catholic Centre Party. The Manchester Guardian reported one such incident on February 23, 1933 - a prominent politician, Adam Stegerwald, was attacked while speaking at a meeting in Krefeld, and a number of priests were hurt in the fracas.
Thousands of Catholic Center Party (Zentrum) activists were in concentration camps by the end of June 1933. Although well aware of the ominous situation, government negotiator and Vice-Chancellor Franz von Papen (himself a Catholic), told journalists that relations between the Reich and the Vatican were "so friendly" that it had taken only eight days to sketch the main outline of the proposed Concordat.
In 1937, parents were asked to choose their child's school in front of two witnesses, usually SA men in full uniform. Hints would be given of possible future trouble and loss of employment if Catholic schools were chosen.
These are just many examples of hitler waging war on the Catholic Church. It’s also a well known fact the Catholic Church was fighting a war with the Nazis, and condemned them, and worked to stop them. It’s a fact that the Catholic Church helped more Jewish refugees than all Jewish refugee organizations combined.
Furthermore,
The world’s population rose from around 500 million in A.D. 1450 to 2.5 billion in 1950, a fivefold increase. Taken together, the Crusades, the Inquisition, and the witch burnings killed approximately 200,000 people. Adjusting for the increase in population, that’s the equivalent of one million deaths today. Even so, these deaths caused by Christian rulers over a five-hundred-year period amount to only 1 percent of the deaths caused by Stalin, Hitler, and Mao in the space of a few decades (p. 215).
Christianity built the West, and I see it’s moral order as superb compared to atheistic morality, which is basically nonexistent. Athiesm has lead to harm, and death. I could argue that way. That it seems societies flourish and are more moral under Christianity.

Bishop Barron, this is the most valuable way you could be spending your time - calling out hypocrisy in the church. This is what I wish all Bishops did on a daily basis. Teach, challenge, rebuke.

What about him being charitable, going out and helping mother's in distress, especially those without money, home, health insurance, being a Shepherd that smells like sheep? How comfortable it is for you all, and for him, to talk like that without being with the unborn and the mother.
I agree with this rationale about incoherence, but find it disappointing that this particular moral issue is highlighted over and above other political issues involving the right to life. It would be coherent and courageous of Bishops to speak out publicly against previous supposedly Christian Presidents' dubious moral standpoints. The right to be born is one amongst many rights to life.

He and most priests of his ilk haven't really went down this road yet, but it is an important topic in current events, so why not? He most certainly has talked about many other "political" issues, and addresses those much more than this one. Additionally, this isn't about politics that many others on here are making this about. This is a moral issue that is addressed directly by the Catholic Church. The problem with much of the thinking is like this, is that this is a republican or democrat thing when in reality it is not--it is an an objective moral dilemma that the Catholic Church has always forbidden and always will, and this needs to be talked about--not swept under the rug, so kudos to the good Bishop for standing up for the Church's teaching on this.

Father John Corapi had the courage to say this and all manner of criticism of a corrupt church. Now he's disappeared into thin air, swallowed up by the papal black hole. I hope this doesn't happen to Bishop Barron. I'm sure this kind of strict doctrinal expression is despised within the Vatican. At this rate, the church will be extinct by the turn of the next century or basically unrecognizable.
Maybe you need to look up Archbishop Cordileone or Cardinal Burke. Both rebuked Biden and Pelosi a LONG time ago. THEY are courageous in their faith and commitment to the Church, even when others higher up aren't.

This is the first time in a long time that I've seen Bishop Barron directly speak out against someone in office, rather than politely and gently try to speak around them or the issue, or to address the issue using vagueries at best. Well done!
I totally agree. This took a lot of courage. I understand in the past he has expressed dismay that when speaking on these topics, some people go right to politics and party lines. Here Bishop Barron calls out President Biden -- one might add, "See, he's a good republican and democrats are all wrong!" ... No ... Bishop's dismay is that we think in terms of political lines rather than the finer resolution of these individual topics. There is some good in both sides of the political spectrum, there are ideas to reject as Catholics from both sides. Let us pray we do not lose sight of what matters: that is productive discussion of specific topics and ultimately responding to our invitation to live according to His teaching, that we may be more fully free, more fully alive, to the glory of God in heaven.
It maybe that you are repeating something you would often hear about Bishop Barron. I don't ever think that Bishop has been unclear in his thoughts or unsure about his stand.
It might benefit to look up yourself for everything that Bishop Barron has spoken and/or published over good number of years.

Regarding the "True" trinity, as Catholics we believe in the Trinity and the Church as described in the Nicene Creed. I checked out the channel you mentioned. The gentleman appears to be confused regarding the truth of the magisterium. Judging by your other comments, I am guess that you are a protestant who is interested in Catholicism. I hope everyone notices that Bishop Barron spoke from reason (a gift of God, of course), and NOT based on a doctrine from Christ. He just showed us how President Biden is inconsistent in his proclaimed beliefs. About time? Bishop Barron has preached on the same message and “called it like it is” since I can remember. This is the first time I’ve heard him call out politicians by name, but his message has always been faithful to faith and reason.

Even Cordikeone with Pelosi is almost too polite in how it was handled; we are talking about public Catholic figures openly advocating for murder here, after all.
