Switch Japan and Cuba too. That way Cuba can be near North Korea, Russia, and China. It's old cold war pals plus Venezuela being near helps. Plus Japan will be farther away from China and both Koreas, which it has stained relationships with.
I'm sure the communist countries being together would not be a good idea. They should all be on opposite sides of the globe and preferably in the middle of the pacific or at both of the poles.

As a Pole I don't understand why would Germany want to be closer to Russia. It's got the best position. It connects the North with the South and the East with the West. It's got an access to the North Sea as well as to the Baltic Sea and is within close proximity to other econmic powerhouses. Central position on the continent allows Germany to spread it's sphere of influence across most Europe. It's also worth noting that Eastern European countries has always been functioning as a buffer zone between Germany and Russia and it's what allows these two countries to have mostly good relationship. Germany and Russia mutually benefit from their geopolitcal positions.

We hate Kremlin's foreign policy. 2008 - Georgia. 2014 - Ukraine (the main events). This policy is imperialistic. And I can only speak about myself - but I think it's common sense that Lithuanian people do not want to live in an occupied country.

Georgia attacked Abkhazia and South Ossetia and Russia defended them, just like tęrrorist NATO "defended" Kosovo or Israel. Abkhazia was declared at the time of the breakup of the Soviet Union, approximately the same time than Georgia itself. While Kosovo was literally just created in 2008.
As for "having nothing against Russians", you do more and more rules restricting the rights of your ethnic minority, removing government services in Russian etc, despite them being a significant part of the population. I don’t think the Kiwis would like being positioned off the coast of China in place of Japan.
They would probably prefer to be in the middle of the Mediterranean or near the Canary Island’s, so they can enjoy the weather they’re accustomed to, and they could afford to explore Europe on a regular basis.
I live there now, and quite a few have said things along those lines.
