Because the fuel pump is in direct connection with the cam. As the cam inside the engine turns, it pushes on the pump lever that goes back and forth pumping gas to the engine. Because it’s directly in touch with the cam surface, it is on the inside of the engine, therefor you can pour your oil into the engine from that port.
You can eliminate buy that whole set up , by getting rid of the junk inside valve cover and replace that kholer pump with a vacuum briggs pump...make your own gasket and find vacuum on motor.. waaaa laaa.. fu*k buying that whole valve cover set up.... 20 bucks my way...
It did not. Can’t figure this one out. It’s got a new filter, new lines, new pump, and even a new carb. Only runs on full choke. Tested the old carb, same issue. This is an older Ch25 so the ASIM module went out, replace the fly wheel and coils. Threw in new spark plugs. Changed the oil. PSI in each cylinder is 175. I can NOT get this thing to run.
Repaired it like it was nothing! A master at work!

What caused you to think the fuel pump was bad? Was it not cranking enough fuel or none at all?
There was no fuel being pumped at all to the carb.

David, believe mine is the same mower. SCAG SST-25CH. 1999 model. Mine is leaking oil around the gasket. Did the valve cover work OK?

Hech yeah hope that solved the fuel delivery issue......aaaahhhhhh those dog gone impacts...
